I like what he said that everything is doable, and you just need the passion and drive for it.
I did ICU travel nursing for a year+ before CRNA school and saved over 300K cuz I will be dedicating 3 years of my life to school without working.
Anytime I have anesthesia, I always ask if there is a CRNA on the case. 95% of the time, a CRNA is who greets me as I’m rolled into the surgery suite. I always feel much safer in the care of a CRNA.
Being a CRNA is amazing.

is he married? How did he keep up his family life + school? any advice/tips and is it possible? what if you have kids?
I have several classmates in my anesthesia cohort who are parents. Family and school balance is very tricky, but I think the types of personalities who go to CRNA school handle the stress and difficulty well. Everyone struggles in school, but I definitely admire the moms and dads in my program. There are some who find it impossible to study at home, so they'll stay at school for 8 - 10 hours before going home to their families. And even before the program began, they basically all told their spouses that they had to hold the fort down for the next 2.5 years. It's a huge sacrifice but totally worth it in the end.
I've often heard of SRNA's being drilled questions while working on a case. I'm curious as to whether you're usually quizzed on random medical facts or if the questions are more patient/case specific to determine how prepared you are for that specific case. Any CRNAs or SRNAs out there have some feedback?

You WILL be drilled. It's called "Pimping" and all SRNA's go through this. It depends on the facility you rotate through and the culture there. But you will always be drilled on various aspects of medicine and anesthesia. Usually it pertains to your patient but often it can just be random questions on any aspect of medicine and anesthesia.

Saying that CRNA's are Nurse Practitioners is misleading. CRNA's are Nurses. CRNA's are Practitioners. But CRNA's are not Nurse Practitioners. Some CRNA's did go to school to become Nurse Practitioners and later decided to go to CRNA's school but this is not a requirement. CRNA's are independent Anesthesia Providers who work in all aspects of Anesthesia from the preop, through the intraop period and continued through the post op period. CRNA's currently perform 65% of ALL anesthetics in the US. This includes general anesthesia, local anesthesia, sedation, regional anesthesia (epidural, spinal, peripheral nerve blocks) etc and work with all patient populations including adult, children, labor and delivery in all settings including rural hospitals, urban hospitals, trauma centers, ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient centers and more.
Agree--its extremely misleading. A CRNA is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, not an APRN-NP (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner). So their title would look something like, Bobby Bob, RN, MSN, APRN, CRNA-BC

He said at the end some states when you get your CRNA you also get your nurse practitioner, but not all. so Maybe that's the confusing part.
No CRNA certification comes with an NP.
NP certification is 1 of 4 types of APRNs and, based on the consensus model, include the following:
1. Nurse practitioner
2. Certified RN anesthetist
3. Certified nurse specialist
4. Certified nurse midwife
Further, NPs can be divided into different specialities based on settings:
• Family/Primary
• Acute Care
• Psychiatric
• Pediatric
As previously by Edward, an APRN can have several certifications, for example, NP and CRNA. However, this is possible by going back to school and completing the program, thereby earning a certificate, not another master’s degree.

At least $100k. I know several ICU nurses who left to do crna. You can’t work while doing it. so if you have family obligations and mortgages, you need to plan for paying bills while you’re without a job.

Does it depend on the hospital that provides certificates of CRNA? Coz the only Hospital in India provides only 1 year of theory and 6 months of Interns. Is that really to consider that it's a CRNA program?

Justina Benson yes, they provide prep-op, operative and post-op care. There is no residency in CRNA school, you have clinicals throughout the program.

You need at least a bsn first to apply
No life. 60 hrs a week. Huge student loans. Atleast 2 yrs in ICU first. Doctorate degree needed now. No room for job on the side. Why not jus go to med school and b an anesthesiologist? Med school is 4 yrs. plus residency. But 2 yrs ICU as a nurse. Plus 3.5 years for doctorate program to be called a dr. Why not jus b an MD and get 2x as much money and all autonomy? It’s like 1 yr diff in time. More student loans. But paid much more money.
If you are already a nurse; going back to school for those pre-med classes and taking MCAT etc can be a deterrent to why some RN’s prefer to do CRNA instead since most of us already have our CCRN and no need for more preparatory classes/ prerequisites and exam(s).
If you guys don't work does the hospital pay you something atleast for your up keep??
