  • After doing my research I settled on the Husqvarna TS354XD lawn mower / tractor with 52" mower deck and got the 42 inch snow blower attachment at the same time. Now I get to use it!
    Several inches of snow fell overnight so I got out the Husky TS354XD Lawn Tractor with 42" Snow blower attachment and let her rip! It was a breeze despite our large driveway and I spent time later clearing the neighbors driveways too with this awesome snow thrower! Heck, it was so much fun I just kept going out to help clear driveways for free! Too much fun in fact and all I can say is AWESOME!
    Ever wondered if a snow blower was worth it? I can tell you I am loving mine! Wow! This thing is awesome! Nothing beats a snow blower except a BIGGER snow blower :D

    Very Nice unit, it’s nice to hear neighbors helping neighbors, that’s the way it should be. Helping out each other. And by the way if you run up to Dave’s house to help him out, stop on by I’m off i81 also..
    But I don’t need anything snow plowed, just a friendly stop in to say hi will do. We get to see snow once in a great while but for only one day maybe if that… take care

      Oh I love my Husqvarna GT48XLSI (discontinued) 6 years old, 27hp Brigs, can go a week without having to put fuel in it.
      My neighbor has a JD Garden tractor & he's actually jealous bc my engine is still bigger.
      I've pulled a boat, a huge swing set over. You bought a great machine.

      Thanks! I somehow missed this comment so sorry for the late reply! I bought this one in 2020 and man am I happy! Mows my lawn (the largest part of our half acre yard) in just a few minutes and just keeps on working. The snow blower is awesome too and gets the job done quickly. Soon I'll bring my lawn spreader home (it's at our cabin) and will use it for the lawn here too (I was paying for fertilizing and what not before but plan to just do it all myself once I retire again).

      Cheers! and Yes, it is a very handy unit! A beast really! I could plow/blow my way down the street house to house without a problem. Chains would be better though as I got delayed a few times in deep snow but worked my way out...almost had to pull out the jeep to winch the tractor out of the snow down a hill though! But it managed to get out in the end under it's own power! Yeeha!

    Thanks for sharing the video. I have a Husqvarna r322 awd because of the little hill of my druveway. I like it but only complaint is that the snowblower is not with an electric winch and it is very heavy to lift particularly with wet snow on the unit. When I mean heavy, I mean it's sometimes very difficult and hard on the arm.

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  7 місяців тому

      I hear ya! With my winch it's easy but yes, it's heavy! I have to lift it to get it on in the winter and that can be a chore ;) But I got it on and am ready for the snow which so far hasn't happened much...probably because I'm ready for it! lol

    Could you do more videos of maintenance and such on the mower? I recently purchased one and there’s basically no videos on this tractor!

      Good morning, in truth, I've had to do no maintenance! It's been a few years since I bought the tractor and the only real inconvenience is changing the mower deck to the snow blower ;) However, I could try to do a follow up since it's been a LONG time since I did this video. Cheers!

    I'm happy to hear that you like/enjoy your Husqvarna Snowblower. Several years ago, I purchased a Husqvarna lawnmower and hate it. I've told many friends not to purchase any Husqvarna products. Happy to hear that you've had good luck with your blower and hope that you will have many years of trouble-free experience with the machine.

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry to hear you had a bad experience! I have 3 Husky chainsaws which have been awesome and did a fair bit of research on the mowers before buying this one. Was yours the same model?

    • @sandyweaver9329
      @sandyweaver9329 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheOldJarhead No, it's a push mower. I know years ago Husqvarna had an excellent reputation. I believe that's the reason why I purchased the lawnmower. After my troubles, I've spoke to a number of people and the consensus seems to be that the company was sold out a number of years ago and their product is not like it us to be. However, I'm happy that you are satisfied with your purchase, but for me...Husqvarna, never again.

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  2 роки тому +1

      Yes! Now, I will say that different models within different brands can be light years apart. I specifically stayed away from certain models because of reviews rather than certain brands. For example, there are models of the JD that have much better consumer reports reviews and online reviews than their counterparts by Husky and there are Husky's that do better than JD's -- same manufacturer different models....I suspect it may be plant specific or even company department specific. Some chainsaws are still as good as ever, some suck -- plain and simple! My Husky 576XPW came to me with issues. I did the break in etc. but before long it wasn't running right or barely at all. Finally I gave up and sent it back to Baily's in Cali. They found a bad crank and case and rebuilt the saw for me free of charge. I was an awesome saw from then on until I squashed it with a big pine ;) I have two others, one 15 years old and one 12 and both still run awesome without ever an issue....such is the way though. Not trying to convince you though! Just agreeing that there can be issues as well as acknowledging that sometimes it's not the brand so much as the model.

      NO. Though I once put it on wrong and it started to smell burned. I disassembled and put it back together correctly. Can you Please tell me how painful it is to remove the blower to switch to grass season deck and then back again before I invest in the blower ? Thanks for your time.

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  Рік тому

      The first time, in my shop, was a pain in the rear frankly LOL however, the 2nd and 3rd time it was easy because I understood better how to do it. So I'd say it's relatively easy to do once you've done it at least one time. There are some things I'd suggest though: 1: Once you remove the mower deck and have to remove the fork up front (underneath) be very careful! It's a bit of a pain and the hardest part of removing and putting the mower deck back on. Using an impact driver and deepwell sockets would probably help but I'm old school hand tools still.
      Once you put the mower deck back on, make sure the belt is tracking right! I'd also make notes or take pictures of where the contact points are etc. Heck, maybe I should make a video of doing it LOL...it's worth having that information as the book was worthless. Otherwise though, I'm super happy!

      @@TheOldJarhead Thanks for your reply and yes a video would be great , I’m sure you will get lots of views ! Still undecided if I want the blower as getting old with recent knee replacement makes it tough to tackle these seasonal projects ! Thinking a tractor or motorcycle lift would make the job easier maybe , Thanks again

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  Рік тому

      Some kind of lift would help, plus those cushioned pads (what I use) to kneel down onto. I have bad back, knees, hands etc (getting old is hell!) and totally get it! In fact, that's why I got this blower! I can just ride the mower/blower and get the driveway cleared of snow in just minutes without ANY shoveling! (which kills me!). It's a bit of a pain to change out the mower to the blower but I hope to teach the grandsons how this year and get them involved :D Either way, it's worth it! Heck, if I can't get help and it gets too hard to do myself I'd get a trailer and have the local shop do it...bottom line? Saves my body during the snowy times!
