BTW, the spacers he's using are the 5x4.5 ones: 5 lugs by 4.5 inch bolt pattern. I've got the same tractor and just measured mine. 5 lug 12 inch rims built in the last 10 years are 99% standardized to a 4.5 inch bolt spacing. Because of this video I'm doing mine too - awesome idea, thanks!

Can’t seam to find the wheel spacers used. Center bore is 80mm 5x4.5, what year Jeep Cherokee if using for this application

Don’t fit as the center hub does not match up with the axle

Leaving this for the next person.
There are a lot of CNC aftermarket spacers now. So fyi. I bought mine for Husqvarna GTH52XLS.
5x4.5 50mm 2" jeep Cherokee spacer with a center bore of 82.5. Which is bigger than needed for the Husqvarna which is not bad.
(center bore is the big hole in the middle of the spacer).
This is why I think he said in the video that there "is about 1/4 gap" while he puts on the spacer.
This doesn't matter because you can buy hubcentric spacers and ones that are NOT hubcentric. Hubcentric means it's lined up with the center bore hole, in which the exact Center bore size would matter. It doesn't matter here because I'm buying non hubcentric 2" spacers and they will be held into place more firmly because the the pitch of the lug nut hole (20) will hold it in. (Google lug nut pitch and why it matters). The pitch and lug nuts of the spacers are the same as the original ones.
Also, I had to find out why there were spacers with a lip or a part of the bore hole that sticks out. Avoid these too. This, I believe is hubcentric.
**I'm by far no expert or mechanic. I'm just sharing the questions I had to find answers for in order to be confident the spacers would fit.
Feel free to update if I'm not saying something correctly. I just wished this post would have been here 6 days ago. Would have saved me hours upon hours. 😂

I hadn't seen it done either. I've seen dual wheels installed on older Craftsman units, so I figured I'd give it a try. So far it's working great!

Just bought a 354 a few weeks ago and added the spacers. I didn't like the way the lug studs fit in the spacer so I bought double ended studs, 7/16x14on one end and 7/16x20 on the other, and used regular lug nuts. A lot better fit.

Great video Erik. I have a Troy built Horse model Tiller with AG tires, I modified some auto tire chains instead of buying them, which work great, at first I inserted some #6 self tapping screws into the tread Chevron's but needed some better traction which led me to the snow chains.
At any rate, nice work, you really need to employ your lapel mic especially when indoors, the echo is a bit sidetracking, still another great production 👍✌️

I don't know if it's just the tires or the spacers playing tricks on me but the tires look more narrow than my ts348xd ( actually bought it over the John deere from watching your videos so thanks for that I love it. )

Deestone tires run smaller than what's stated on tire. A set of 23x10.50x12 actually run about 22x9 when mounted so yes they will look skinnier since they are.

The only weak point I see would be the spacers and axle hub face, but myself wouldn't worry unless I was doing some work heavier that what the tractor was designed to do...only my opinion though.✌️

I live in a mountain area too. I know stability should improve with the wheel spacers but does the addition of the bigger tires raise your mower deck height?

    • @MustangsTrainsMowers
      @MustangsTrainsMowers 3 роки тому

Yes it would some depending on how much the tires are inflated. Running low tire pressure runs the risk of the tire coming off of the bead on the side of a hill.

I currenty have a 2008 Craftsman Garden Tractor ( 1300 hrs ), the transxle and 54" deck are both wore out. It's gonna set my bank account back $1500 to replace both.
I have been researching this Husqvarna you have, and I can't nake up my mind, whether to repair my Craftsman ( the engine is still strong ), or purchase this TS 354? Your thoughts?
