Metroid Prime 3 - 16% Hypermode Phaaze

- This is the ending of the 16% run I finished last night to confirm the new low% with Grapple Swing skip. I complete Phaaze with the lowest completion percentage possible, by using a variety of glitches and sequence breaks to avoid picking up any item that isn't absolutely required to finish the game. For this video, the relevant parts are that I only have one energy tank and five missiles, and I don't have Hyper Ball.
I was surprised by how little trouble I had on the final bosses, considering I haven't fought them in years and I forgot a lot of things. Only had one death on Dark Samus (which is cut from the video). I used to have a lot of trouble getting through the final bosses on low% hyper so I expected it to take longer than it did.
16% collects the following upgrades:
* Energy Tank
* Missile Launcher
* Grapple Lasso
* PED Suit
* Boost Ball
* Energy Cell (Xenoresearch Labs)
* Seeker Missiles
* Ship Grapple
* Plasma Beam
* Screw Attack
* Ship Missile Expansion
* Hyper Missiles
* X-Ray Visor
* Grapple Voltage
* Nova Beam
* Hyper Grapple
The following "required" items are skipped:
* Grapple Swing
* Ice Missiles
* Hyper Ball
* Spider Ball
* Hazard Shield
* Energy Cell x4 (including normally-required Command Courtyard cell)
Phaaze is done the same way as in the old low% since the new skipped item is Grapple Swing and it's not used on Phaaze anyway. Enjoy!

Impressive. I do not know how other to say it. I usually am at about 3/4 health when I kill DS on Hyper with all items....plus, I thought the final phase with such little health would be borderline impossible since you cannot heal...
He is exploiting the game as much as possible, its not as impressive as it is cheesy. The game wants you to think missiles are good and theyre not as good as mashing the beam button. His controller or controls are probably changed to exploit this. Most of Dark Samus's attacks dont even get used because he cheeses her so hard for the sake of speed running. Also it doesnt matter how many energy tanks you have once you get to Phaaze, as he's taking the same damage I do with 100% items.
The damage is the same, but the maximum you can tank is very limited.
And I know spamming HYperbeam does more damage that Hyper MIssiles, and DS deflects them anyway, though stunning her with them makes it a lot easier
Yeah I beat the hypermode boss today using this method and it was easier, but avoiding damage is still hard.
That's why you can heal. The fake dark samus clones drop energy pickups.

@Paraxade0 So now that A Hat In Time is Finished, are you going to make new videos now, it doesn't have to be speedrunning it could be whatever you want.
What all did you skip to earn 16%? I know you need at least two of the hyper mode upgrades to finish the game but can you skip both the spider ball and screw attack? I've only managed to get by with the screw attack. Using your early Elysia trick means you can skip the hyperball but there's still many upgrades required to advance in the game.
It actually took you 11 hours??? Damn, that has to be the longest run I've ever seen. You should post a video of the run, it would be amazing.
MU_YosH11 It took 11 hours because most of it was failing tricks for hours and trying to very very slowly navigate Elysia from OoB. It really wouldn't be very interesting without heavy editing.

I have a question, something that always bothered me. You killed that Leviathan thingy (don't remember it's name) at the 5 minute mark with only 4 Charged Shots. I was never able to destroy it with even CLOSE to that few shots, not even on Normal. I always need like 8 to 9 fully charged shots, even although i am very certain that i really am hitting it, since it's flashing if the shots do damage. Is it possible that this is a version difference? I am playing on PAL version, did they give that Leviathan thing more health there?

karl Graef 2nd Channel 23% isn't even possible without "cheating" so.. lol. I think you're missing the point of low%.
And take it from someone who's been doing hypermode low% runs of Corruption practically since it came out... 23% is absolutely not "just as hard" as 16%. Not even close.

I think Paraxade0 is DEAD! I regret telling u guyz this but I think its true cuz , if he were to quit his channel then he would have either deleted his video or atleast inform us that he is not gonna post anymore so therefore I predict that he is dead....If you (Paraxade0) are still alive then atleast inform us!
