I dislike most UA-cam intros and skip over them but yours is so nice and beautiful that I actually love it. Well done, and thank you for the wonderful content. 💙💜👏
Ooooh, that's good info! Thanks :-) It took me a few shops to realize that they call them "Original" instead of exclusive, but that was as far as I got.
@@thewetpen Interesting, I hadn't heard that! I learned that vocabulary from an employee at a Hands after hamfistedly asking for "ekusukuruushibu" ink so I wouldn't be surprised if "Original" is what stationery stores use.
The Tsutaya Daikanyama shop has to be one of the coolest shops around. Yes it is a big hard to find, but the architecture in the area is so cool. That whine red makes me hungry for a cheese. Cheers.
The Shosaikan ink indigo blue color is beautiful and I will add it to my bucket list as well as a trip to that pen shop next time I go to Tokyo. I have those same beautiful fish notebooks! I enjoy your channel and the way you present the ink swatches. Thank you for all you share!
Hey Lisa! Thanks! Both of these places will be on my list when I go back to Tokyo... though I've just discovered that I can order that glass dip pen online, and the exchange rate is great right now!
@@thewetpenhey man im new here to stationary and shimmers and special inks, would you say its bad to use special inks like shading and shimmer types with a lamy 2000 EF? I also have an al star in M but do you think i should have a broad or a dip pen in the collection for inks like that?
@@XxXHardcoreshredderxXXxxxxxxxx I don't use much in the way of shimmering inks (glitter), so I can't speak to that, but generally speaking, the broader the nib, the more ink you'll get on the page, which makes it easier to see the color and special features of that ink. However, for sheening inks and shading inks, you'll still get plenty of effect whether you're using an EF or an F nib, it will just be proportionate to the thickness of your line. I stay, stick with the type of nib that is useful for you and that you enjoy using, and choose inks that fit your taste.
@@thewetpen thanks so much. It makes sense. By the way I just binged and watched all of the Japan ink series you made, there's so many wonderful colors you've picked up. I think I really want that stag beetle one you got in the first video. Absolutely stunning. I'm a huge fan of sailor inks for sure. I'm looking into Ferris wheel press's tears of sapphire shimmer ink, but the lady selling it to me in a shop here in Italy was saying she wouldn't recommend it for my Lamy 2k since it's harder to clean I guess hahah but the sailor manyo dual shaders like koke and hinoki are on the to buy list. For sure. I just bought kakitsubata and ukikusa. And I think with light colours I've noticed they don't really feel as dense or slick coming out of the nib after a while of setting the pens down.. and I wasn't sure if I did something wrong... But I think I'm following proper care proceedures for pens, could be I'm expecting too much out a light ink Vs a black or blue black.
@@XxXHardcoreshredderxXXxxxxxxxx I also don't tend to use glitter inks because they're hard to clean out of pens and they are more likely to clog nibs/feeds than other inks... and I just don't like glitter that much :-) I love sheen, though!
Great fun. We still readily get the Pilot Blue in same bottle but different labelling here in India. Price is ₹350 for 30ml. This is a dry ink I feel, also very light in colour. I loved the Sailor Indigo Blue the most out of the lot. 😁
I agree about the Indigo Blue :-) I have a few bottles of Pilot Namiki Blue, with the more spherical bottles, but I rarely use it... it's also a little too pale for my taste, though I don't remember the flow being dry. We also have it in the same shaped bottle here with a different label as well... but they cost about $10.
I really like the Indigo Blue ink (and bottle) from Sailor. Is it available in the US, especially the bottle? Both are really nice. What pen did you show / use?
Hey Paul! The Indigo Blue is only available at Shosaikan in Tokyo, and their website doesn't offer shipping outside of Japan. However, you might be able to get a shipping agent to forward it to you, for a price (something like Japan Rabbit).
@@paulmchugh1430 Hmm. There's a different pen or two with each ink, I believe. With the "On Your Birthday" is was a Moonman M600 then Opus88 Omar, then a red Lamy Safari (and FWI Mars at the end) with the Autumn Sunshine. With the Indigo Blue there's just a cheap glass pen... might be J.Herbin... and the big pen with the Yunagi is a Ranga Giant 9B. With the Ferris Wheel Press ink, there's a Kilk Baroque on screen.

Love these Japanese ink discoveries. I unfortunately tire easily of blue, and would appreciate you displaying oranges, browns, grays instead. The FWP looks kinda limp, and their bottles are annoyingly lovely; too tippy and far too narrow opening. Keep these coming, it’s fascinating.
@@thewetpen no! I ordered it from his shop in Japan! Didn’t take too long to arrive if I remember right- beautiful pen and very nice guy- very great customer service… learned about him from Inky Rocks…

Not gonna lie, I dig that dark green one you showed. Think I’ll hit that place up when I visit later this year. Thank you!
The keyword for finding exclusive inks in Japan is "gentei", or so I discovered!
