7:42 getting my trunk aligned made me want to throw the whole roadster in the garbage dump. It took me FOREVER! seeing your approach to the body work is very interesting. It is turning out amazingly well. I gapped my trunk, doors and hood like you. Made my paint and body guy very happy cutting his work down substantially.
Thanks so much for posting videos of your build. I'm sure it takes a lot of extra time to film and edit. I am currently building a FF and just getting started on the body work. I really like what you did to the front of the door where it meets the cowl. I may try to imitate that.
Thanks for the note. I'm glad I spent some time on the way the door meets the dash. Now that everything is painted and assembled, it was time well spent.
I don't comment much but; I and You are of one spirit, lol! I am like you I don't know what I'm doing but I have a vision of what I want and figure out what it will take to get there. Keep doing what you are doing and I know, that the end result will be extremely close to your vision.
Thanks for the nice note! With every milestone I’m realizing that while it might take me longer than some, if I stick to my design I’m happy in the end. Good luck to you and your vision as well!
i just started my doors today. pretty much spent most of the day just trying to hang passenger door. definitely going to have to do filling and blending on top of door and like you i dont know what the hell im doing either but im going to learn weather i want to or not😉
Ha! Yes, I’m learning as I go. Sometimes it’s a pretty clumsy process. My next video which will come out tomorrow covers me filling and blending the doors. Fun stuff !
@@randomwerks3763 of course I missed the part about putting windshield on first because it will tend to pull dash down. I want to make car road legal before I really dig into bodywork but I would like to get doors as close as I can and not worry about latches not lining up again
VERY interesting video. Because of all the adjustment variations fitting the doors to the body, do you have any thoughts of how to replicate the present fitment after the doors are removed and later replaced?
Yet another good catch. I labored over that part of the equation. It didn't come through very well in the video, but I put about a 3/16" gap where the dash nests with the door. Last night I had the doors off while I was shimming the body to better fit the dash hoop. I then put the doors back on and had no problem replicating the fit. I'm thinking I should be good moving forward.
The quick jacks on the factory five roadster and I believe all the other kits out there are just for looks. They don’t bolt to the chassis in anyway that would allow you to use them to lift the car as they were used in the original cobra. In this case they are used as one of the methods of securing the body to the chassis and are cosmetic only. Although they feel pretty stout when you rack your shin on them.
Pete, gotta love your need for speed, keep the faith bro.

That was how I felt about the drivers door!!!!
I am learning ALOT from your series👍 You do awesome work
Thank You for your candid honesty and for sharing your Cobra replicar adventure with us!!!🤙
I really appreciate your kind words. I am truly having a blast both building the car but also figuring out how to build the car.
Thanks for watching!

Really enjoying your build videos. But you've got me wanting to modify some things on mine. LOL. Great work and descriptions!
Ha! Thanks. Yep, it’s a slippery slope. :)

To me, a quick jack lifts your car off of the ground. Can you show us what you are talking about with the quick jack?

@@randomwerks3763 Maybe on the next video you could just show them real quick.
