    Sharmaine, thank you for being you. I absolutely love your transparency and your ability to be your self. I've been a fan since the beginning and I look forward to your 4C journey, your hair and channel growing.
    That is all.

    Honestly ur ends looked really good. The dryness could have been coming from needing to moisturize. My ends were feeling like that & I started to really pay attention to my ends when applying moisturizer & then sealing and that made alllll the difference. 🙂

      Just a question on this...I was always told trimming in Twists/braids isn’t always good as you could have split ends that are waaay higher than just the tips of twists/braids. What’s your thoughts on this?

  • @chalseywilder937
    @chalseywilder937 5 років тому +8

    Split ends can dry out your hair more too. So it's good you're doing your trim when you know u need it.

    Make sure the scissors you are using are ONLY used for your hair. If they are scissors you've used for anything, they could have microscopic nicks and can cause more split ends.

    You did a good job. This month is officially my one year mark. I am trimming this upcoming weekend for the first time. Crossing my fingers I don’t overdo it. What a year hair growth make, even against odds of hypothyroidism issues that has me losing more hair than I would like, but all the same happy with my one year journey.

    You did a great job! Every time I trim I'm so excited to get all the dead ends off but if I'm honest I get so bummed after. However, your hair is going to grow like crazy. I know people say it's a myth that cutting your hair grows it but from my experience every time I trim it goes through a steroid growth spurt.

    Girl!!! You are so brave... last time I trimmed my hair myself... I decided that from now on, I should just punish a hair stylist with that task instead. Only thing I can do myself is shave it all off, and I've done that so many times I can't even recall the exact number... Everytime I got my hair trimmed by a professional it was on dry hair and I've also read it's best in the "Science of Black Hair" book. I think it's best for me because my hair is super fragile when wet.

    I’ve only ever had my hair professionally trimmed on blow dried hair. I would be scared that I would have an uneven cut if I trimmed on wet/damp hair with all my shrinkage 😩 I guess this wouldn’t be much of an issue for you as you don’t blow out your hair so it wouldn’t really show. I try to get a trim every 5-6 months ❤️

    • @mchobbit2951
      @mchobbit2951 5 років тому

      You cannot see slight unevenness when you always wear it curly, especially on 4c hair. Some professionals swear by having curly hair trimmed in its natural state rather than straight too. Personally, I'd never get my hair trimmed blow dried or worse flat ironed. I hate heat on my hair/head.

    I usually do a heartless blowout on my hair (African threading) and then I trim. I do not trim on wet or damp hair because of shrinkage. I may cut off more than I need to if my hair is wet and shrinking. When it’s dry I can control & measure how much I actually cut off

  • @shantiablackmon7845

    The only time I get my hair trim is when I go to my natural beautician. She shampoos and conditions my hair. Afterwards she blow dries/straightens my hair. Then she trims any split ends I have. She tries not to trim much off so that she can have a better grip of my hair when braiding. So, I just used the Moringa Oil Spray on my hair! Phew! Talk about moisturize hair. However, since I used Blue Magic Indian Hemp and Blue Magic Coconut Oil on my hair, I am going to use it when I shampoo and/or condition my hair! Since it is Black History Month, are you going to start wearing African braided hairstyles (Bantu knots, cornrows)? Also, I try to get my hair trim twice per year. Lots of love Sharmaine💞

    Cutting your hair dry is better for the integrity of your hair. It’s like cutting wet paper vs dry paper , you get a cleaner and more precise new end if you cut it dry.
    Wet cutting will result in a more frequent need to trim. Not saying wet cutting is bad at all just that dry cutting gives your haircuts longevity. Hope this helps!🤓
