Yes every 10 years we able to see our sister. Detachment is one of the hardest things to do. We are blessed by having a sister in Missionaries of Charity.
Thanks for reminding me of this.. this is the way we lived .. I'm a religious sister but at times we need somebody to remind us too . God bless you and your loved ones.
THANK YOU KEN AND JANELLE FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO PRESENTATION ON CAN'T SERVE TWO MASTERS SO TRUE BETWEEN THE GOOD AND THE EVIL. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT DETACHMENT THAT IS. I HEARD YOU MENTION IN THIS VIDEO,THAT YOU HAVE SEVEN CHILDREN IN TWELVE YEARS. I ONLY SEE SIX IN THE BEAUTIFUL FAMILY PICTURE. IN CASE YOU ARE PREGNANT AGAIN JANELLE CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH AND YOUR FAMILY. GOD BLESS YOU AND FAMILY!
This message is so timely especially during Christmas time. I see myself getting so busy with Christmas presents for family and friends, organizing get togethers, shopping for new clothes, shoes ... and then after I listen to this message I realize I still have lots to learn. I am now asking myself if I am doing enough to prepare my heart for the Lord's coming or am I getting lost with worldly traditions and family expectations? Thank you for reminding me about the grace of poverty. ❤
Beautiful message today. I am so thankful for this retreat and getting the teachings of St. Alfonsus to start off my day. I thank God for you Ken and Janelle and I pray for God to increase your ministry.
Wow - thought provoking - it would be very difficult for me to leave my possessions and relationships. I have a lot of work to do on this one …….. thank you for today’s reflection!
It’s so interesting!! We have a big family too. 7 kids. There were many times that we had very little for groceries and we had to make it stretch and right now we aren’t in that position but it’s so weird bc I kinda miss it! There’s something very beautiful about the virtue of poverty. I know that sounds crazy but it doesn’t feel right just to be able to get whatever you want when you want it. BTW Janelle is so beautiful!
In 08 we lost our home and had to move in with our daughter for a time. Turned out to be 2yrs. We gave up so much, nearly everything. Then we were given an opportunity to live in a place remodeled by a friend, owned by someone who couldn't live there for a few years. Nearly 8yrs later we again moved in with a different daughter. I am so thankful for what I have which is so much less than what we had. I am now widowed and have almost nothing but again so thankful for the years God gave me with my husband and all we were bbn blessed to have. You two are such a blessing to watch. Thank you for your Advent moments. 🥰🙏🏼
What makes us decide not to be detached from our loved ones? Because it doesn’t come easy. Is it by the grace of God? Is it by oneself determination and conviction? I got to admit that in these past months of my life I came to the realization and the deep feeling in heart that my children are not mine but belong to God and I’m just the instrument here on earth to give all the love that I have and guide them towards our Lord. However I didn’t feel that way a few years ago, the pain of not having them in my life was excruciating. Now I trust in God's will.
I have noticed in my life, after die'ing of myself and giving myself to his Devine Will, I don't worry about possessions anymore. Just yesterday a latter fell on my BMW and chipped the paint. I didn't react by being upset about it. I just picked up the latter and rubbed the chip. I will soon submit a religious exemption to keep my job this month, but job or no job, I give everything to God knowing it is his will that will be done, because now his will is mine.
"Jesus, Mary, I love you save souls!" Reparation prayer saves a soul & repairs 1000 blasphemies. Many souls go to hell because there is no one to pray for them. In your spare moments in your day, you can save thousands & repair millions of blasphemies. GOD bless! Impirmatur Cardinal Fossati, Turin, Italy, Oct 1, 1949
Everytime I watch your videos I learn more about our faith but I also realise that I am further away from heaven, knowing that I do not fulfill the requirements of whatever you share with us ( most of the time). Detachment from close family is so difficult & I think the challenges for lay people are far greater than those in religious life. They can immerse themselves in prayer & sacrifice while we are thrown into the desires of this world. Perhaps the grass seems greener but that is what it appears to be.
Detachment is difficult, something I see God has been helping me with in my married life. We live in a different country far from my family and old friends. It was very very difficult at first. Now raising children in a different country. Of course in 10 years God has shown the beauty of relying on Him. And I have grown to know the culture and have made some friends. God will always provide. I have come to be amazed at how God provides. God bless you both.
Wow! First, that verse from Revelation about vomiting us out: I watched a video (not on YT because of its content and subject) last night that made reference to this verse. Secondly, yes, get to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, especially in these end times, at least every 2 weeks or monthly. May God find us in a state of grace when He returns in glory.
Ture story, My wife and I got married 20 years ago in city hall. Studying and learning the faith the last 2 years, I found out it is a sin. Which I should have known from 12 years in a Catholic School. So I asked my wife to marry me in the Catholic Church. She asked if I loved her and why marry again? I told her yes I love you but I love Jesus more and we need to fix our sin. At first she didn't understand, but months later she did and we got married on the 23 November 2021, which is the date we met 23 years ago. Jesus comes first. If she have said no I would have divorce her and went to confession and lived my life loving Jesus. (I don't want to go to hell thank you.) Now we can have the Eucharist again, because otherwise we couldn't and if we did it is a sin, a grave sin. Please study and learn the faith. God Bless you all. Jesus comes first in everything! I try to live in the world and not for the world.
Happy St. Lucy Day. I use cards from religious groups. I wish I could send you a check or a nice dinner. I can only give you my friendship and my prayers.
At 3 min...oh Ken the hole gets deeper you're digging lol. And boom at 7 min there it is from Janelle. And for mothers to detach is so much harder. I think about how Mary was suffering so much more than anyone else because "Flesh of my Flesh", truly one of Her greatest sacrifices. God Bless you all and you two and your vocation to each other and family.
Just wanted to let you know that none of your posts have been showing up in my newsfeed for quite a while now I don’t know if anybody else is having the same problem with UA-cam. Are usually have to search for your posts by name you might wanna look into that. Have a blessed and merry Christmas!
Total dependence on God December 2000 my family and I received a miracle to move in the home we live in now before we were living with relatives and we were looking at having to go to shelters unbeknownst to me we got the phone call to move into our home now although the Lord had plans for my husband he's with the Lord widow for 15 years but I am incredibly blessed yes so I agree detachment from the world Dependence on God's Providence is the key A whole lot of work though in practice I'm still learning that's why I watch your sights thank you God bless
A young family should be able to go out and have a family outing and go shopping God also blesses us with abundance to share with our children and to teach our children where our abundance comes from amen
It’s so true my friend, sometimes we want to serve two masters by going to holy mass on Sundays and then the rest of the week it’s serving this world (Satan) by watching tv shows that don’t please our lord listening to horrible music with words that offend our lord , watching porn , video games, celebrating Halloween, New Year’s Eve by staying out late and drinking and dancing etc. well this is not serving God, by living in a mortal sin this is not being a true Christian if we do not put into practice our faith, so what do we have to do if we want to serve Jesus? Give ourselves to Jesus to stay away from this world and to live in holiness as much as we can by staying away from all sin from this corrupted world that offers us with this evil social media, video games, tv shows etc. but to pray the rosary everyday, read the holy Bible and to receive the holy sacraments, look up and try to desire the things from the above and not from this world, because Jesus said very clear if you want to go with me follow me and pick up your cross just like the father prepared a place for me ( his kingdom ) so it will be for you as well if you follow me. amen 🙏
Let's not go to extremes. Stay away from pornography, impure and offensive music and live s life of faith. New Year's Eve enjoy a nice dinner and have a great time with a nice dance provided it's not explicit. I am sure there are still some respectable dinner and dances for New Year's. Just watch the booze. My Catechetics Professor from Franciscan University had a good point regarding the secular traditions of Halloween like trick or treating, dressing in scary costumes and the family parties the way we did when I was a kid in the 70s. She said these activities are innocent. Of course, recognize that there are some things we have to stay clear of like occult activity. The former is fine. Not seeing ones family more than once every ten years is a great thing for some. My friend in the Dominican Order can see his family but not on Christmas Day unless they visit. Still they're focused on serving God. There's some wiggle room on some of these things.
You are absolutely so correct in all you day. I absolutely love you all. I feel like you are a part of my family! May i have your address pls? Not sure how to send privately. I will send my email address.
If you took a bird's eye view on the world, you'd see that it is either God/Jesus, or Satan. Everything else than God is related to Satan that's why the verse "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Matthew 6:24) Mammon is the demon in charge of money and wealth, he will transfer money to you if you do his bidding. If you love Jesus, He will provide for you, you don't have to worry about your income at all, trust Him, love Him and He WILL provide you as He did for me. Worrying about how you'll get money whether it is from employment or donations are all mammon-stuff. Trusting in Jesus is letting HIM decide for you how you will be fed. You instead focus on your walk, faith, salvation and love for Him. Notice how the verse says 2 masters not 3. There is no other master than these 2. Pick one for both offer eternal life. One with Jesus and the other in the Lake of Fire. Choose wisely!
Please make this make sense because none of it does. When you have God restoring things to Job. It seems like God wants us to prosper but Jesus does not.
For myself detachment means to not allow my love and concern for my family to be more important than my love for Jesus. Aswell in detaching and surrendering I leave room for God to do his good works in them.
Love Is our King of the world ❤🙏🏻
Yes every 10 years we able to see our sister. Detachment is one of the hardest things to do. We are blessed by having a sister in Missionaries of Charity.

It's Jesus and nothing.
It's Jesus or something.
If you took a bird's eye view on the world, you'd see that it is either God/Jesus, or Satan. I don't want to agree on detachment it makes me sad and Jesus him self was not detached from his mom and family why is it important for us ?
Jesus was indeed detached from His mother and disciples on the Cross and when He ascended into Heaven
For myself detachment means to not allow my love and concern for my family to be more important than my love for Jesus. Aswell in detaching and surrendering I leave room for God to do his good works in them.
She’s a little annoyed with you, Ken.
Thank you
