  • This video was shot January 16th, 2014 launching from Baldy's Warm Springs ski run. This mountain can be flown virtually all year long. Summit access is by gondola and chair lift, a very beautiful and relaxing 20 minute journey.
Bald mountain is regarded by many to be the best flying site in the country - both for performance and shear beauty. At 9150' elevation this mountain boasts a 3100' vertical for flights that can last anywhere from a 15 minute sledder in the early hours of the day to several hours of soaring and thermalling when launching in early afternoon or early evening (mid day flying can be very dangerous at this site and is recommended for p4s and up with lots of mountain flying under his or her belt).
Several North American foot launch distance records have been set from Baldy including the current record of 240 miles set by Gavin McClurg flying non-stop from Baldy to Helena Montana (click link below to read the story complete with beautiful pics). Gavin's flight lasted 7.5 hours flying at altitudes that exceeded 18k.

Pretty cool vid......... I got so relaxed watching it, I almost fell off my chair.. :-) Even better to have some relaxing pi-ano tune playing during the playback... To have the same visions as the birds do has got to be a fantastic experience!

Hey, that's a great idea! Never thought of that 'angle' for one of my vids.

So you pull in the ears of the paraglider to descend faster?

Camera usage - the optical distortion (fish-eye) using a wide angle lens shows the user doesn't know how to correct the situation in an editor. Hose-piping video displays a lack of understanding for the viewer - seasickness effect. Put a fixed camera that will remain static and constant and then edit to and from your headcam. A static camera could as sports referees do, be attached a chest position.

Camera usage - the optical distortion (fish-eye) shows that the troll who wrote this comment doesn't understand the camera used, GoPro Hero, is designed this way and preferred by most for action shots. Hoser-comment displays lack of understanding and intent for the one posting this video - idiot effect.
Summary: Don't write comments if you're speaking out of your #@%

Yes I know the Go Pro is "designed this way" with a wide angle lens. It is a camera used by broadcasters and others. Unfortunately you appear to lack the capability to remove the fish-eye and see from the viewers perspective. oh, I didn't name call you but you appear to be rather narked that someone actually commented adversly on the video displayed. The actual scenes were great and the position the video was taken from excellent. You lack two things and possibly more, manners and capability to edit. Your parents should be ashamed of you.
