- Skimming blades have gotten very popular over the past couple years but they can be tricky to use correctly. In this video I go over the correct angle and pressure needed to get the best finish possible using them.

I used to do drywall back in the 70s. After school and weekends id go to the job site and they would put me to work. After H.S. this was my first regular paying job. BUT, i must say I have learned a couple of fine points from your videos. You are the mud Queen.. 😊
Thank you so much! I’m skim coating my thick textured walls and I’m so glad I found you. Just ordered this from Amazon!
I've been watching your videos and I have to say this. You are very good at what you do. I've been doing this for over forty years now. I've worked with some people that have the same amount of experience as I, but the quality is not wonderful. I would hire you in a minute. Keep up the great work.
I suck at mud so I love my skimming blade. I have a 32" that allows me to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I could be wrong, but a demonstration with a 12" probably isn't the best sell. The reason I say that is because even as a hack I still run a traditional 12" knife and 16" trowel. The wide blades are where these shine. With my 32", I can tape and load a patch that's a 16" stud bay wide and run the 32" blade with a clean 8" feather on each side. It made a dramatic shift in my confidence on patches. I still call the pros for anything bigger than a stud bay lol
I started using a skimming blade and I love the finish on my butt joints
Thanks for the tips Lydia! Have a great rest of your weekend! Forgot to mention I got a skimming blade! To help with butt joints! Because I don't do well! With spanning out the mud out!🌹♥️
Awesome Shorty

Good Afternoon Shorty✌️😎
What about having a helper roll on mud over the seam and coming behind him with the tool? 9" roller cover and frame with whipped mud
Thanks
What's the benefit of a skimming blade vs using a regular taping knife for skimming?
Seems cumbersome to "finish" with the skimblade with that butt joint. Would you be able to finish with the taping knife u used as well? Or is that THE reason to use skimming blades? I see their purpose more in bigger sections (at least from what i've seen online). As always: your channel rocks, i've learned tons!❤❤
Same here, I don’t understand the point of a skimming blade smaller than 24”. Just use a knife or trowel. Above 24” they are awesome.
I have a 16" that comes in handy around windows, etc. You know, when you're actually skimming a wall or ceiling. For normal finishing, these stay in the van (unless there's a troublesome butt joint).
Nice work
💪😘😘😘😘😘😘
Well shorty...........I had to pay the siding guy for smashing that ring shank clean through the wall . I hope you're happy now . And you just stand there cute as a button .
Nice your video reels friend really your from friends please
I don't see any reason not to keep using my regular 12" knife
Not smart 😢
Wow she is gorgeous
I usually enjoy your videos, but I was disappointed in this one. If you're going to make a video on skimming blades, why don't you actually show how to use one? Instead, you use a 16"? on a flat?!?! Why do I get the feeling that you borrowed those blades to make the video?
Just use the box, learn how to use the box. Then stick with a normal 12” knife….. to much switching around. If you want to knock down texture. Use plastic knife…. Cheaper also
Lots of none cense for a drywall finishing… go to Menards get cheap ones and throw away…… it’s not about the blade. It’s about the taper
Cannot stand how Americans call it mud.
Americans? Its ancient in origin
Considering that drywall was invented in America, they can call it what they like. Also, what term do you prefer?
@@disco_falcon1895Yeah, was wondering the same thing. Lol
It must be nice to have a life so idyllic that a mere word upsets you.
Nice shirt... yes, Ill subscribe. 💦
