The pH values in the rivers (Atabapo) vary greatly. In case of rain, the pH value is higher (5.5-6.5), low in long drought (4.2-5.2). When freshly caught animals continuous observation and constant water change is urgently needed! The pH of the transport vessel may change after some time. But mostly down. Regards, Andreas

Except common silver angels don't get nearly as large as an altum. You really will have to see one in person to appreciate the difference between a genuine altum and other angel strains and species.

I met a guy in belgium preparing his tanks for a new import of Altums...; He had his water on pH 3,8 !!!...But maybe it was because he just prepared his "turf"-filtration, releasing the most humic acids... What exact pH is measured in the wild ? Increadible that, after all, they are ajusted to a neutral pH after a while...
I don't think you understand very much about this guy, Enrique Gotia. He is helping the wild fish because they are exploited and collected from the wild each year with no sustainability. Therefore, he understands and breeds P.altum so aquarists do not rely too much on wild fish!

They look like common silver angels to me.
Except common silver angels don't get nearly as large as an altum. You really will have to see one in person to appreciate the difference between a genuine altum and other angel strains and species.
