Thank you so very much, I can't tell you how aggravating a grease gun can be from my perspective. I have chunked a couple, simply because no matter what I tried, it would not prime, but I wasn't aware you had to burp /purge the air out of it. Thank God for allowing you to make this video. Take care.
Thank you .....i had no idea when i got delivered a specialist greese cartridge how to get it into the gun....didnt realise the tube slides in 😢. My previous experiences were obviously the old style non cartridge guns that you push filled from a tube of greese .
I don't subscribe, but video was helpful in other way (my latch plate stucks and I was not sure in which direction I have to move it - here at 1:40 is visible action). Thank you!
Dont get when youve screwed the tube in place you then push the metal rod thingy all the way in, so instead of gradually pushing the grease through like a silikon gun? You have pushed the rod all way through the grease??
Ya the metal rod when you push it in is just a rod the part with the spring and rubber cone allows the rod to slide through it leaving the rubber cone at the back of the tube pushing the grease forward via the spring,
Thanks a ton. I just bought a grease gun and tube of grease, and neither came with any documentation whatsoever. Wanted to be sure I knew what I was doing.
I watched this and a few other videos about this, and still cannot get my grease gun to pump anything; but since I'm loading grease cartridge correctly, believe my grease gun is defective (worked for first cartridge, not second or third)..
@@LegendLength it's not the plunger that goes is it's just the rod. I solved my grease gun issues by buying a high end german aviation rated grease gun
To my knowledge its the volume the gun can take if looking at a grease gun or the volume that's in the cartridge. 1cc - cubic centimetre is around the same as 1 millilitre. I think 🤔 might have to check on Google.
got it all the way but didn't unscrew a little bit from the top and nothing is coming out. I think I didn't get the air out so that is why mine isn't pumping
I've got 2 different greases I want to use with one grease gun. Can I remove one cartridge even though it's half full or more and insert the 2nd one? Thoughts? I hate to buy a second grease gun being as I don't use them very much. Thanks and a very good video1
Also worth checking if the 2 greases are compatible together as I would imagine you will have a slight contamination and if they react with each other or one is definitely what you dont want in what your going to grease then id get a second cheap gun
@@RG_sssSMOKING no problem if it was say a high quality multipurpose grease and a cheap quality multi grease than id use the same gun but if it was different types I'd use a second gun myself just in case.
guess what? I opened both caps of the cartridge and sucked the grease into the gun :) But looks like it’s supposed to be used with the cartridge inside otherwise there is too much clearance between the piston and the cylinder. Second time I used it wouldn’t work anymore and the moment I opened it all the grease was pushed out on my hand, a big blob 😂. Anyway I managed to grease the car like that, if you force the cylinder back then let it go again it’s possible it will push the grease to the pumping mechanism
ya when it goes wrong it gets messy quick haha, i have had it happen in the past and been covered in grease then iv been there trying to put the grease back in the tube and it was just a big mess haha.
Yes, easy, i'm full of grease, i just take out my tishort amd trashed to have smth to clean a litlle bit to be able to waah use phone . I will be back after a short brake with good feedback i hope 😂
Are you pushing the rod back in all the way if not it can hold the spring back and dosnt allow the constant pressure against the grease to keep pushing it down
Or sometimes the rubber on the spring dosnt slot into the tube well and gets hung up at the top, if that's all OK then undo it a bit carful and see if you can get grease pushing out the threads a bit, then screw up tight and use the bleed nipple to clear to the head, and hopefully then should pump out OK
@@outdooradventures92 well some grease guns alow you to lock the rod and push the boot down by force then unlock it by twisting the rod and push the rod in but I found the cheaper ones don't always have that feature on one of my cheap ones I unscrewed the back part of the gun to check it was inside the tube, however be careful cos of the spring and pressure ext.
normally the spring is constantly pushing the grease down the tube to the pump head so without the spring it wouldn't work i think, i wouldn't cut it of

Glad it helped!

Thank you so much.
Thanks.
been working construction for 15 years no ones ever actually explained it properly. i think they enjoy seeing you struggle lol
Thank you so much for showing me how to do this for the first time using a grease gun.

Thank you so much have a otc grease gun for years finally because of this video i can use it now works perfect now .
Wow thanks 😊
Thanks Mate, I had taken the rod out of the grease gun and was trying to pull it back, the spring was not cooperating! Appreciate you for this!!
thanks for taking the time to comment i appreciate it
Thanks so much for these instructions, the manual does not provide enough photos to get a good grasp on what to do.
No worries!

I have to watch it every time I reload grease gun, since I forgot how it is done every time~
Hi there, in my new gun I have tried to put the handle back but it doesn’t move a mm! Apart from taking it back is there anything I can do?
Thank You. Straight and to the point.

Ya the metal rod when you push it in is just a rod the part with the spring and rubber cone allows the rod to slide through it leaving the rubber cone at the back of the tube pushing the grease forward via the spring,
If that makes sense
In a silicone gun the rod and round base that pushes the silicone is 1 fixed piece of metal.

Have a gun that you have to unscrew the top valve not push. How about one of these?
Very helpfull. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I watched this and a few other videos about this, and still cannot get my grease gun to pump anything; but since I'm loading grease cartridge correctly, believe my grease gun is defective (worked for first cartridge, not second or third)..
So since the rod is fully pushed in how do you know when your tube is out of grease?
Usually when no more grease is coming out that means the tube is empty.
Great, this is the vide i was looking for!!!
Great!
thank you, nice and easy :)
thanks
What if the plunger will not enter the cartridge when you release the rod?
Make sure you press the little release button at the same time?
@@ElPincheRojo93 my problem is the rubber plunger does not enter the cartridge it gets stuck on the cartridge lip

hi...what's the spec of the grease gun...cause mine cartridge can't fit ...how big is the cartridge?
The grease gun is a 500cc one takes 500cc of bulk grease or a 400cc cartridge
And the multi purpose grease is shown as 400ml on screwfix and I think 400g on amazon.
What grease gun do you have ?
Great video 👍👍👍👍

It was a 400ml tube standard size I think

Can you keep the grease on the gun for the storaging it
i keep my tube in the gun till its empty, but i store it inside. not had a issue yet but if the grease is old i change it.
I have a question, what does the number(400/600cc )and so on, mean when buying a grease gun?
To my knowledge its the volume the gun can take if looking at a grease gun or the volume that's in the cartridge.

Also have you pushed the rod back in the whole way or the lock can catch it and not let the spring push the grease up
Also have you tried bleeding it from the top bleed port ?
Thanks, great help for me.

Ya just save the cap you pull of the cartridge and put the other one in however you will have to waste the grease thats in the head and tube.
