  • Snow camping Colorado on a solo backpacking trip with my wood stove and teepee tent. Overnight temps were in the mid teens, but my tent stayed around 60f with the stove running. Thank you for watching :)

60 degrees is a whole lot better than in the teens. Cool trip, Scott. Lucky you did not have to shovel out a spot. Love the touch of snow on the trees. Beautiful. Have a great day.

Got to have snow if you winter camp... A hot tent don't hurt either..... I was just in the mountains last week and we still have big deep patches of snow where I like to camp... Just a few days till June!

Hey, just found your channel and love the content. I live in Highlands Ranch and solo camp in many of the same places it looks like. I also have the Minipeak XL as well as the Twinpeak hot tent. Best way to camp here in Colorado! If you are ever looking for someone to go with you let me know. We could share Intel on secret hidden gem spots.

Once the Sawyer mini filter has been frozen its completed its useful life and belongs in the garbage, not in your pack, so you don't mistakenly use it again for filtering. Besides, you don't need the filter when you are boiling water since the boiling kills what harms you. Also, to boil your water faster, put your leather gloves on, fill your 500 ml metal cup up with water and put a metal lid on it, open the stove door and nestle the cup inside the stove on a bed of hot coals. Your 500 ml metal cup will have water boiling in about 2 minutes. This also completely sterilizes the cup. And the stove door can be closed or left partly open while your cup is in there. Open is ok because the stovepipe draft creates a vacuum, a lower pressure zone in the pipe than in the inside of your tent, thus the smoke and exhaust gas will continue to be sucked out the stovepipe whether the stove door is open or closed. Just watch for flying embers if the door is open. By the way when the stove cools down you can use your same 500 ml metal cup to remove the ash in the stove before stoking up again. The 500 ml metal cup with metal lid adds a lot of value when backpack hot tenting.
