Being 73 I think I can just come out & say this. Put the shades down. Get your girl, a bottle of wine, candlelight & this song playing in the background. There were a "Whole Lotta Babies" made to this music.
What I love about this montage is there is a lot of synced up footage of John Bonham doing his thing on the drums. I can't get enough of watching him play. The guy was a Savage Beast.
The "double guitar" that you're asking about used by Jimmy Page is a standard 6-string Les Paul on the bottom, and a 12-string Gibson on the top. Basically, an 18-string guitar. Page usually played it during live performances of Stairway to Heaven for the different tonal qualities used in the song.
@@TytheSynthesystJimmy Page had the double neck guitar made to play Stairway to Heaven live, otherwise he’d have to stop in the middle & change guitars.
The "sound effects" they achieve are more often than not Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a violin bow - you need to see him do this to understand. Try dazed and confused or how many more times. Its often a good idea with them to listen to the studio version then watch a live version to get the full geniusness . By the time you see stairway to heaven at MSG 1973 there will be no turning back. I love your comparisons.
Every song they did was unbelievable!! Do more! Do live performances!! You will love them! You cannot believe all the different genres they did!! Jimmy Page...the guitarist plays a Theramin in this!
Best Band Ever! The lead guitarist is sliding a cello bow across his guitar! Jimmy Page was very creative as well as Robert Plant as far as writing, As well as John Paul Jones on about 6 various different Instruments and "Bonzo" the amazing drummer. RIP
This song was the opening track of their second album, released in the fall of 1969. There was nothing out there that sounded like this at the time... it kind of kicked the door open for a lot of hard rock that followed. In answer to your question, that was a double-neck guitar. The most common configuration was that one neck had a 12-string guitar and the other a 6 string, though there could be other configurations.. the idea is that it allowed the player to effectively switch guitars in the middle of a song on the fly. That ambient sound thing in the middle of the song was the kind of thing that was hip and cutting edge in the late 1960s. The studio album has that section actually a little longer. The weird sounds (other than the vocals) were made by a combination of Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a bow and an instrument called a Theramin. Anyway, great reaction to this iconic song.
"This sounds so different to Immigrant Song" Ma man.....This is Led Zeppelin. From an era when artists weren't afraid to experiment, and one of the best at it, if not THE best. They have dipped their toes in several genres
Don't be fooled. Fortunately this is not the Live version of this song. When it comes to live performances they can go either 8 or 80 (depending if they were sober enough at the time or completely wasted). On the other side, most of their studio-albums are simply incredible!
If you really want to know how versatile led Zeppelin is give a listen to D'yer Maker. It's the one song that they recorded but then never Played again.
Try a song from one of their 10 or so albums produced. You did "Immigrant Song "off Number 3; and off the 2nd album "Whole Lotta Love" So go back to the first album and try a song called "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and off album 4 try the most requested "Stairway t to Heaven"; and then off their Physical Graffiti "No Quarter"; and their Houses of the Holy album "The Rain Song"; next was Presence and maybe the song "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and from their some of their live albums like How The West Was Won" the song "Dazed and Confused" might be a good listen off this album.
A double neck guitar allows for different kinds of guitar. Often one neck is 6 strings and the other is 12 strings. The 12 strings might look like 6 from afar because they are in close pairs of 2, but putting your finger down on a pair of strings produces twice the notes as putting a finger down on a single string. So the guitarist can change sounds by switching with neck they use during different song parts.
Sometimes you need to play a part with 12 strings, and then rip into a gritty 6 string solo, without switching guitars on stage. Hence the Double necked guitar. Rick Neilson from CHEAP TRICK has a 5 necked guitar.
This is the first time I saw your reaction, I can see you listened to this & The Immigrant Song, but not anything else. If you haven’t, you are really missing out, on truly the greatest band ever. If I don’t see more then 1 or 2 reactions, I consider them fake reactors. I guess I’ll see if you play more Led Zeppelin or not.
He was using a violin bow, and others sound effects..... The double neck guitar is a 12 strings guitar, using for the rythmic parts, on the up, and a 6 strings, using for tge solos, down.... Except, as Jimmy Page, was a monster, coming from another galaxy, he used the 12 strings guitar to make solos, in live versions! 😂😂😂😂Only, the guitarists, who already, played on that guitar (i did), can understand how much it's crazy, and complicate! If you want to discover how much that band is incredible, and the best band ever, listen, and watch them live bro! Peace from France 😂👍✌️🎸🇫🇷
Stairway to Heaven live from msg has a guitar solo that will blow your mind!
All their music will sound different, not one song sounds like the other. They are very versatile
Dude they are their own genre. Sometimes Rock,Blues,Jazz,Country,English Folk,Phsycodelic. The GOATS!
Haha yeah, the difference between the 2 songs I listened to was crazy.
The GOATS! PERIOD! Dude if you wasn’t the Zeppelin experience, check out Madison Square Garden 1973! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Prince called them the greatest band ever.
Greatest band to ever grace the planet!

Fun to see yet another young person get to experience Led Zepplin. Have fun with your journey young man.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Led Zep 2, which this is from, is a must listen!

When you do get to Stairway to Heaven at MSG DO NOT pause during the guitar solo. Some consider it sacred and get real bent when reactors do that.
The guitar solo is generally when I just shutup and vibe with it haha. So no worries
Watch stair way to heaven
Jimmy page will play his double neck guitar they just have a different sound.
If you think this is different from "the Immigrant Song" try the Zeppelin classic "Kashmir" for a vibe and hypnotic ride.
Live at Knebworth1979
@@juliemanarin4127 Or Celebration Day which I find to have a much fuller sound than Knebworth (Bonzo missing not withstanding)
Need to do Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin Note one neck of the guitar is a 12 string and other is 6 string for Lead/solo riffs !
And by Heart!!
Oh no the cut down version raises its head again!
Led Zep = ART

That wasn't motorcycles. That was Jimmy dragging a violin bow across the strings. He uses the bow in this and dazed and confused.

This guy made a guitar sound like motor cycles 😭😭 that's creative af
It is a 12 string guitar on top and a six string guitar on bottom Led Zeppelin has know rhythm guitar
if you think this is different try stairway to heaven and kassmer also bring it on home all good change up songs
Your rating system made me laugh.
It's pretty accurate to be honest 😜
You had cups and string?
We had to get old soup cans from the trash.😂
😂 I bet your soup cans were more effective though. The paper cup system definitely didn't work 😭
Well you noticed the African drums, did you also notice the African dance moves?
Whaaa are you trolling? I actually didn't

I always imagined Plant was talking about anal sex, when he sings, "I wanna be your backdoor man ". Just a rude joke.
