I completely agree. I think Ibanez have got it figured out with budget priced guitars, and this one doesn't even feel like a budget guitars. I struggle to fault it!

I bought one of these, about 20yrs ago, GAX-50, all black, two knobs instead of 4. I did upgrade the pickups by choice, but saved the originals. All the electronics would be considered crap, but they are all still working fine. Only problems have been the pots and socket retaining nut loosening several times, and the GND wire was in wrong location, right from new. Thing is heavier than Mom's old cast iron skillets

Still a great guitar for the price point.I added CTS 500K pots, and wired it up like a 50s Les Paul , and added the Orange caps. I just want to say to you that you are super Cool Guy, and I wish I lived near you. I am from New York, and the manners here suck. People suck here, and you all over there in the UK have great attributes. You are are so polite, kind, courteous, and have a great sense of expression. 'you must be new to Ibanez guitars. Back in 1981 I bought my first Ibanez it's an AR50. thats it nothing fancy for the name. However it is now August 2022 and I still have that gem. I still use it and would like another one but they're a bit more than I'm allowed to spend now.
I HAVE THE OLDER BROTHER TO THAT GUITAR , which is the lbanez gio Gax70 i got in 2005 and still have it and still look new on the paint job love the neck of the one i have and i put evo pickups on it, its a very sweet playing guitar and tone for only $119 in guitar center!! the one you have the neck is diff but wow it sound great!!!!! ibanez is kicking ass and taken names on their low end guitars!
I bought an AX120 about a month ago. It needed to be set up and cleaned up plus I've had it back once for another tweak... put new strings on it and I'm very happy with it. It's tough to find a guitar this nice for $200 to $230, depending on where you buy it. If you're a beginner, the pick ups that are in it are fine... if you're a more advanced player, you may want to upgrade the pick ups.
I imagine this is way better than the Epiphone SG E1. Because "Ibanez". Man I ordered the E1 new last summer and it was such a turd. Not even worth $100. Total buyers remorse.
I'll know more Wednesday...Shipping was delayed ALREADY hope this isn't to be a problem from the START My $700 SG FROM EPIPHONE NECK DROPS TUNING BY A HALF FRET JUST BY PICKING IT UP. HAVEN'T FIGURED THAT OUT YET.😠

C'mon. you made it clear you are biased against affordable guitars there is nothing wrong with this guitar , so it doesn't have coil split, so what your critique ends there,, have a nice day
Not quite sure why you think I'm biased "against" affordable guitars, this is actually one of my favorite to play in my whole collection. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for one. Thanks for watching

Both the old GAX and newer AX guitars seem to be mimicking the Les Paul DC (double cut) , not the SG, which has shorter, curved horns.
I love the Ibanez AX/AR guitars. I have 4 variations, the AR420, AX120, GAX70, and GAX30. The AR420 is my favorite guitar by far.

I have an AX 30, I had to do a few adjustments and it became my main guitar. With the help of a luthier you can make it sound far than right
I love it, I tuned it down a half step and use it as my guitar for that purpose

Nice guitar, I picked up one a few months ago. But... too heavy and serious neck diving.
Interesting, I haven't found the same problem. Good to know though, still well worth the price tag in my opinion
