      I personally (Leo)haven't tried it. Dan found the neck a bit chunky for his taste (Dan has fingers as long as E.T.) but the only thing that matters is that "you" like it and enjoy playing it. Thanks for watching and for your kind comments. 😉👍!

    I'd been thinking about buying this guitar, but this relatively unenthusiastic review almost changed my mind. I'd also seen another review suggesting the Gretsch G5222 over this one. I played the Gretsch in store and thought the tuners were just awful and didn't see why I should pay so much more for it. Ended up getting this same "baltic blue" Ibanez after all and have no regrets. I love the neck and fretboard, which in my opinion are every bit as good as the much more expensive Gretsch, and the tuners feel better too. The only thing I'm not crazy about is where it sits on my leg. The upper bout is a little too far back, leaving a lot of lower bout hanging off my leg. And when played standing up, the neck wants to fall to 3 o'clock. Overall though, I'm really happy with this guitar. Final note: the fretboard on mine is a good bit darker than the one in the video.

      Thanks very much Jon for watching and for your kind question. We always use our Fender Mustang GT 100, and if it's a clean song or just testing pickup sounds we use the "basic clean " patch, and for dirty songs we use the "Boosted Brit " patch. We don't modify the factory settings for the patches at all. The only thing that changes is the master volume so we can get a good balance between the amp and our "Ion Party Boom" bluetooth speaker we use to play the tracks on. We hope this helps you achieve your goal. 😉👍!

    Another great vid. Excellent job by our favorite executive producer, Mr Leo Ryan, & of course, & as always, some snazzy axe-work by the Man himself - Mr Dan Ryan. I absolutely love this guitar. Been wanting this one for a couple months, & I dig the Baltic Blue - or the Copper Metallic - like 2BikeMike said. I'm down to those 2 choices.... I don't have anything like this model. Hate SGs... but I dig this ish version.

    I know that this is an old video, but I watched it because I found one of these, the same color, today on Facebook for half the price of a new one 😀 So I wanted to see what yall thought about it! I heard Dan say that the neck was "chunky", so when I got the guitar in my hand it was the first thing I checked out! Lol. I think his chunky means a wide fretboard, because it's still pretty thin like most Ibanez guitars. But it has that Gibson style wide fretboard, which I actually like. Lol. Dan STILL made his sing! I bought the guitar, and because of Dan, I've been listening to B. B. King all day! Lol.
    I think that the EART comparison... I don't know... apples to oranges? I mean the stainless steel frets put EART in a whole other league to me, and I haven't really seen but one of their guitars go for a Gibson style, that was LP, the rest are more Fender style... BUT, even without the stainless steel frets, both this guitar and the Oscar Schmidt SG guitar (did I mention that I got one of those last week 😅) play so smoothly to me, and I think it's the wide fretboard, that I forget they aren't stainless!!!
    Anyway, love your videos as usual!!!

    I just got some Amazon cards for Christmas and I think I'm going to buy this guitar. It's really nice sounding for the very cheap price. At least the one you're playing is. I'm not expecting greatness. I currently am borrowing an American strat and I own some midranged- maybe slightly expensive guitars. But I've been looking for something SG-like to play with. Just for fun. maybe I'll play it in my school's Jazz Ensemble when we rehearse, for fun. Thanks for the review. Great playing by the way. Sounds fantastic.

      @Casey3-P-O 2 роки тому

      @@leodanryan966 yea I actually just watched your Eart review after watching this one, and at this point I think I might have decided to get an Eart instead. I don't love the headstock shape, but if they're trying to make a name for themselves by building higher quality instruments for a lower price, I feel like I should jump on the opportunity.

    How’s the neck compared to a squire? Or a Epiphone SG

    • @leodanryan966
      @leodanryan966  2 роки тому

      The neck is chunkier than my Epiphone SG, I have never seen a Squier SG, but it is chunkier than the Harley Benton DC-CUSTOM SG copy. It is pretty, but for the money I'd go with the Harley Benton if I was after a copy. Thanks very much for watching and for your kind question. 😉 👍!

  • @zuperdee
    @zuperdee 2 роки тому +1

    Ibanez guitars typically do have really flat fretboards, close to a 16” radius. I find I tend to do better with “chunky” necks, probably because I have big hands. Therefore, the neck on this guitar probably wouldn’t bother me, but on the other hand, those squealing microphonic pickups WOULD probably bother me to no end!

    Thanks for tje straight-on honesty: a chuncky neck turns me off, hence my small hands.

" Dan plays the guitars, and afterwards gives his honest opinion about the guitar. His honest opinion may differ from your honest opinion. Your guitar definitely wasn't "this exact guitar ". This is nothing personal in any way. There are a lot of other channels that do modifications. We don't. Thanks for watching, and for your kind comments 👍.
