First time listening Hesitation Marks it comes across as average. Second time listening I noticed the subtle genius within the album. Third time and every other time after that I realize more and more that this album is simply incredible, so everyone can save their negative comments until they've listened to the album a few times over. And as aldude999 said, forget EVERYTHING you think you know about NIN, because each album is something completely new.
Trent has become the greatest, many of us want the angst he brought on early albums, some want the anger he he brought on his middle works, this new album brings shame to the table and I love the progression.
Long -time NIN fan, but at first did not get or like this album. Sounded cliché. But Something got my attention and had to keep going back. Now it just blows me away, especially this song. "Yesterday I found out the world is ending." Yup. Hey Trent, Thank you. You still blow my mind and bring me sobbing to my knees.
The trick with listening to new NIN albums, is forget, EVERYTHING, you knew about his previous albums, and listen to it with no expectations. His music constantly evolves, and no two albums are the same.
The more I listen to this whole album the more I hear glimpses of Radiohead, and its awesome. For years I've always wanted Yorke and Reznor to team up, maybe one day.
Thru tears I watch young lovers As they go strollin' by Oh, all the things that might have been God forgive me if I cry. -Hank Williams (Weary Blues From Waiting)
The whole singing that starts from 2:35 till the part where he says "when I'm still here" is so romantic..... "Stay with me....hold me near...".... Sounds so beautiful... so fucking sexy.
I Love the breyer P-orridge Remix!!! Psychick T.V meets Nine Inch Nails! I could never have dreamed genesis mixing trent!!!! Industrial Musick has come to a Full circle..Now we can go even further!!!! No Limits!!!
A little more Every day Falls apart and Slips away I don't mind I'm okay Nothing ever Stays the same, well While we can Remember when Always running Even then Stay with me Hold me near While I'm still here
I like how the instruments present themselves one at a time like the Beatles used to do in a lot of there songs back in the day. In A technological sort of way, I don't know? What do you say. Off A Cliff out of the sky, but far away is a place where he hides, Where he stays.LOL!
Great album very smooth...relaxing. still never understood why he isn't recognized as much as other " artists " he actually has talent and plays numerous instruments. when all other " artists " just have a pretty face...sad really sad
I gotta say, when I first listened to this album, I wasn't impressed. But I'll be honest, with the artwork, I really was expecting "The Downward Spiral" once again. After listening to it again, and again, and again. You know, doing what very few people do and GIVING IT A CHANCE, I realized how amazing this album truly is. By no means is it "The Fragile", but it's awesome in it's own right. Trent Reznor is not past his prime, but instead has matured wonderfully. We're lucky to still hear him.
Leave it to Trent here to make electronic music sound... intimate! While I'm not a huge fan of his soundscape-type stuff, it has nonetheless added a subtlety to his approach that wasn't there in his Angry Days.
This song (and whole album) reminds me of Radiohead's album, "Hail to the Thief" and of "The National Anthem" off Kid A (especially the sax). Not a bad thing in my opinion.
it is.....the only album i don't really care for (although i will still listen to it) is "with teeth. thats a good album, i just don't like it as much as i do the others. really like broken.

A little more everyday, slips a away, nothing ever stays the same

2:34 - 3:20 probably the most beautifully thing I've ever heard in music since "The Great Below" or "Right Where It Belongs"
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” - Leonardo da Vinci
The more I listen to this whole album the more I hear glimpses of Radiohead, and its awesome. For years I've always wanted Yorke and Reznor to team up, maybe one day.
With just his silhouette showing with his head back, looking into the sky, too.
Thru tears I watch young lovers
As they go strollin' by
Oh, all the things that might have been
God forgive me if I cry. -Hank Williams (Weary Blues From Waiting)
after hearing this album live i have a totally different outlook. This song is great! 2:30
Love the sax and how Trent is playing it! I am a fellow saxophone player and I could never compete with Trent.
I'll hear this song over 100 times in the next couple days.
This is simply gorgeous. If you disagree, clearly you make bad decisions and we cannot be friends.
This song is magical
I understand a lot of fans think Trent has lost it, I personally think Hesitation Marks is incredible.
flawless
I have to agree. This might be the best track on Hesitation marks. Relaxed, interesting, and that fucking sax.
beautiful
Truly classic NIN.
So much Bowie is coming out of him....this is amazing...
The whole singing that starts from 2:35 till the part where he says "when I'm still here" is so romantic.....
"Stay with me....hold me near...".... Sounds so beautiful... so fucking sexy.
That saxophone in the end makes me go "WTF?" and "THIS IS FREAKIN' GROOVY SHIT!" at the same time. I love it.
Definitely my favorite song on HM.
Best song on the album in my opinion. I like most of the album, but this one just stands out to me, especially with Black Noise right after
Awwww yeah. Time for creepy music again☝🏽😅
Fuck yeah... this sound can't be matched. 100 percent truly original and it sounds fucking good.
This is one of Reznor's finest tunes in career.
I have the album version of this on repeat in Itunes, and to my surprise, it loops perfectly! Try it. :)
simple and wicked cool.
strongest track on the album i believe so far. The remix is incredible.
2013 + I wonder if it was such a good year for wine, as it was for music/albums.
The last 20 seconds is so funky!
Great
I Love the breyer P-orridge Remix!!! Psychick T.V meets Nine Inch Nails! I could never have dreamed genesis mixing trent!!!! Industrial Musick has come to a Full circle..Now we can go even further!!!! No Limits!!!
this is probably my favorite track on HM
Bass - Pino Palladino
Bass, Electronics, Guitar, Percussion, Saxophone, Vocals - Trent Reznor
Guitar - Lindsey Buckingham
Love it; )
beautiful!! *_*
Anyone notice this shares a melody with 'find my way', much like 'la mer' and 'into the void' did. Same melody, different paths.
This song NEEDS to be heard with black noise right after, for full effect :)
A little more
Every day
Falls apart and
Slips away
I don't mind
I'm okay
Nothing ever
Stays the same, well
While we can
Remember when
Always running
Even then
Stay with me
Hold me near
While I'm still here
THAT SAX!! I can REST in PEACE, now!!
HOLY SHIT I LOVE THE ENDING I wish he had kept it going for another eight measures!!
Hands down my favorite on the album.. get all emotional and shit. I feel ya Trent..
Nevermind... This ALBUM is my fav!
@Gerard B. McDermott Yup. That's him on this track. Buckingham is guitar on three tracks, and backing vocals on one.
2:55-3:15- that guitar sound Trent-genious
I like how the instruments present themselves one at a time like the Beatles used to do in a lot of there songs back in the day. In A technological sort of way, I don't know? What do you say. Off A Cliff out of the sky, but far away is a place where he hides, Where he stays.LOL!
I believe the time has come for Reznor & Thom Yorke to make a record. Russell Mills & Stanley Donwood artwork would be insane also!
Great album very smooth...relaxing. still never understood why he isn't recognized as much as other " artists " he actually has talent and plays numerous instruments. when all other " artists " just have a pretty face...sad really sad
He's been recently scoring Fincher's movies, and still isn't recognised enough.
Agreed! :)
rmx is great
Yep. Also on In Two and Copy of A.
I like the jazzy ending
I think Hesitation Marks is the result of all his previous works.
Not enough sax jammin'. It would not even make my top two NiN sexy sax jams.
1) Purest Feeling
2) Purest Feeling

lmfao! genius!
This fucking groove!
i think his whole series of albums are kind of like i biography....
all his music sounds like all his music.....
the only thing i wish it had more of is that heavy edge like in earlier albums (even jsut 1 or 2 tracks). still fucking great though :D
This record has Kraftwerk all over it...Lovely!
so many people are saying this album is similar to the fragile, i think its a mix of all of them and how to destroy angels.
Trent-genius :-D
I liked the second half of the album the most. If the first half was on the same level I'd put this album next to the fragile.
Leave it to Trent here to make electronic music sound... intimate! While I'm not a huge fan of his soundscape-type stuff, it has nonetheless added a subtlety to his approach that wasn't there in his Angry Days.
om nom nom
This song (and whole album) reminds me of Radiohead's album, "Hail to the Thief" and of "The National Anthem" off Kid A (especially the sax). Not a bad thing in my opinion.
3:40 dat sax
Never disregard Buckingham, Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac is the guitar.
Hey you!?
Whatcha lookin at?
HEAD DOWN!
Mm too late for that
Nice profile pic.
God is a Trent Reznor.
Which sounds like Closer's ending to me.
A double-tracked baritone saxophone ?
i have so much excess "yes" for that comment idk what to do with it...
that'd be funny if he played with it live lol
They only like the "hard stuff" if you know what I mean.
it is.....the only album i don't really care for (although i will still listen to it) is "with teeth. thats a good album, i just don't like it as much as i do the others.
really like broken.
tthe sax is good, but damnit, why didnt he drag it on a little more! make that shit pop
Very simple lyrics! Not impressed!
