Walter sadly left the Antwerp academy of fine arts in june 2022, where he was the head of the fashion department and tought in the third year. He continues designing for his own brand because: "in my head I don't feel retired yet" - Walter
as a teen, i had the chance to purchase a Beirendonck backpack, it was black rubber, folded, melted and riveted into shape. it was $600, but i still think about it today. he was the coolest to me.
I collect W< and yeah the prices right now suck.. When I started collecting a few years ago it was a lot easier to get affordable second hand W<. I honestly think that there is some small hype around W< considering the prices now. I used to get the tops for 90usd and now they can sell for 300usd. I still love the pieces I have, I dont get to wear them as often as I used to. Anyway big up on the W< video :)
I'd love to see a video about NIGO and his work. He's such an inspiration to me with his interests and inspirations. He's an ultimate collector nerd but also extremely respected in the fashion and hip hop world.
I passionately agree about most runway shows being really boring and overly traditional. There's literally so many interesting ways you can display clothing on the human body to just have people walk in a uniform manner feels like a waste. Have been wanting to get more into Walter for a while, appreciate this video brodie!
I live in Antwerp and am friends with plenty of the fashion/ ex-fashion students! Super funny hearing you talk about the transition from walter to brandon as i am hearing about it/watching it in real time . :) Like the vids!!! I'm curious to see where you've decided to study instead of Antwerp, CSM?
@@fashionlover4 ! nice! I'm moving back to where I'm from in the Netherlands (Friesland) in October! :) I don't have Instagram or anything but if you ever need a Dutch friend you can find me on Facebook :) Just the same name as my profile.
Still hold on to my women's denim W@LT jacket I bought in the 90s don't fit me nowadays but just love the stitching and the alien face imprint pressed into the back shoulder. Interesting to find out about the label.
You channel has exposed me to awesome fashion! It’s like discovering a food you didn’t know existed. Shit blows your mind. My eyes are wide to new awesome references of great design.
Amazing video, I'm always amazed at the amount of stuff you cover and how you keep it so interesting each time. Walter is truely one of the greats, it's so good to see you talk about him. Really enjoyed the video! Keep it up
W video, I absolutely love Walter and he should definitely be credited way more. I believe my discovery of him was the beginning of my admiration for futuristic fashion. He has also influenced my personal style as well, if only I was rich enough to own some of his pieces tho lol.
the "digital clothes" thing is sus. great vid as always though, as someone not too knowledgeable about high fashion but interested in the wackier stuff i loved learning about this. keep it up brother

yo i live in antwerp and wtf is up with yall prices walter ( and all antwerp designers) do a stock sale twice per year where you can get everything deadstock for amazing prices like i bought a couple 09 wvb shirts each was like only 40 euro. you can find like the outerwear for under700 euro same for all the antwerp 6 and many others in antwerp
😫😫😫😫 my guy!!! I'm still in the intro but needed to say something!!! I'm so for this!!!! P.S. Do you have a community based discord like group? I'm so down for conversation about the industry 😅
Happy99 has an amazing interview in issue 3 of a fanzine called demystification magazine that was huge for me in the way I think about making clothing. Their approach was very inspiring to me if you can find a copy or scans it’a a fantastic read.
Well I was mostly talking about W< until the end and the only criticism I found against him is the BOF article in relation to the student suicide at Antwerp. I don't have personal experience with him and don't feel like there is enough info or evidence for me to justify criticising him. If you know other sources do let me know.
His work definitely influenced Japanese street fashion at the time, I see a lot of FRUiTS magazine photos with his stuff in them

Video of Walter after Virgil? My man maybe into something😂😂 Loves both designers still tho and absolutely beautifil videos for both too.
Lol I see the irony but I swear it's just a coincidence, I wanted a break before the next Virgil video and was already looking into Walter anyway
Lol I’m confused. Explain the irony. Enlighten me

I wonder if Goldlink’s Wild and Lethal Trash visualizer was inspired by this
I love the craziness of his designs. because of Walter I love colourful wild clothes. Wish I could afford anything that's not Vintage W< tho T_T
I just subbed up💪🏽 This is a great video with wonderful info!
Fashion can feel watered down these days. I love the reminder that it still has life💙

This reminds me of the upcoming brand barragan. It’s giving anti fashion to the max which I love and hate

They're line dancing, which was a trend in 90's. I like your channel, but it makes me feel old.
Antwerp 6 = Power Rangers

OK bro, I guess.

most European modernist art is literally just Orientalism...
Bro makes a vid about Walter but completely ignores any criticism about his person and how horrible he is to students 🗿
