Another great video, Pete! I especially liked the appearance from Mrs. Pete's Garage! Hopefully she will be making more frequent appearances in future videos.
@@PetesGarageandperformance well I entered the fsg zl1 give away so right now that’s my only hope😭🤣. But I’m guessing this is basically the same process for the ls4 correct?
I have a exhaust that goes up to the second cats. will the off road pipe leave a gap to where I’d have to get another pipe welded on? Or should I just get the off road x pipe ?
Did you end up heat wrapping the brake line that’s close to the header on the passenger side? Or no since it doesn’t touch the header? I just put headers on mine and the brake line looks alittle too close to the header.
Pete, just bought 2016 2ss Automatic, was thinking about doing the same setup, don't have to worry about cat deletes were I live, no emissions. What's H.P and Torque gains? Bought car for wife for 40th anniversary, let her have the fun. Thanks,Pat
This is by far the best instructional video of a header install on a 6th Gen that I’ve seen. 👍 Once you realized your Jack stand placement was bad bc you needed to take the cradle brace down, you put some kind of ramps under your front tires? What we’re they?
@@PetesGarageandperformance i also think it should be fine but i heard someone said that if there is fiberglass inside the muffler than it burn it out. so idk if there is any fibers inside our NPP mufflers. but anyway i love the sound of your headers i also got a 2inch AHR and i love how it made my engine produce more torque.
My instructions by kooks are telling me to remove my starter... I can do it but prefer not to. did you have a problem with starter getting in the way? it didnt look like it on camera.
I have a 2014 Camaro SS with long tube headers and high flow cats and I'm getting codes for rich to lean on the o2 sensors you think I can tune that car and pass emissions?
i really hope you respond to this so i can attempt to by the headers and the off road pipe, can you send a link that will take me straight to both of those please
What size headers are these? 2”? Also I saw the link in the desc for the headers but that takes you to the main page, does any1 have the exact link for these? Thanks in advance.
Great video I watched it to see if I want to attempt it myself. So this is a cat less install of headers. Now if I get some Texas speed headers that’ll bolt up to my factory cats I won’t have to do any cutting? Because I am in california that’s why and don’t want to remove for smog.
@@PetesGarageandperformance do You know wat could cause that after getting them install? No clearance space? Or the headers scrubbing against the steering shaft ?
Tsp headers are notorious for rubbing against the steering shaft. It’s a 50/50. Some people dent them or go with other brands like speed engineering or kooks.
I think it was about 4 or 5 hours. The hardest part was cutting the exhaust because I didn’t fully remove it. It would’ve been easier to completely remove the exhaust to cut it.
The owner is thrilled with the sound. It still has the factory selectable exhaust system. It’s quiet when putting around, but screams at wide open throttle. Thanks for watching though.
@@PetesGarageandperformance The owner should be informed that he exhaust is damaged and you should have a look just in case it caused further damage to the engine.
This is the best tsp headers+x pipe install vid on youtoot. No one else shows where to cut.
I hope it helped out. Thanks for watching.
Great video , thank you for be the first one to explain step by step. You save me a headache trying to figure what to do with the passage side.
Thanks for your video, just finished mine. I used you guide as a step by step.
You’re welcome. Hopefully I got all the steps in!
Amazing video. Great content. I cant wait to install my LTH. I will be using this video as a guide.
Thank you, good luck on the install.
Another great video, Pete! I especially liked the appearance from Mrs. Pete's Garage! Hopefully she will be making more frequent appearances in future videos.
LOL. Thanks Kyle!
I cant believe you got it in without removing the starter
My Man Pete! Glad to see ya with a new video bud!
I watch videos like this as if I’m ever gonna be owning a Camaro 🤣
But when you do, you’ll be ready to install the headers!
@@PetesGarageandperformance well I entered the fsg zl1 give away so right now that’s my only hope😭🤣. But I’m guessing this is basically the same process for the ls4 correct?

I think you would have a gap if you didn’t get the x pipe. You might want to check with Texas Speed though.
When you top off the coolant after the install, do you need to bleed the system? Or just top it off?
Pretty much just top it off. You don’t lose very much coolant so it’ll bleed itself out.
Great video Pete!
Thanks John! Did you watch the whole thing?!
@@PetesGarageandperformance most of it! Lol I'll finish it sometime this weekend
I watched the whole thing! Saw Mrs. Pete's garage helping a couple of times!
Lol.

I did not and there were never any problems.
Late to the party but what size race ramp crib was that you used?
They are Race Ramps 1500lb 12” tall
@@PetesGarageandperformance Sweet action
Would be nice if they made some for the Gen 6 3.6l V6.
Im using this as a guide, great video. How did you install the steering shaft again? Does it need to be torqued?
I’ve seen talk of adding a port for a wideband o2 sensor for tuning. Did you just use the factory o2 sensors?

Sorry we didn’t dyno the car before and after. I would suspect 10-20 hp gain. The factory manifolds are pretty good though.
This is by far the best instructional video of a header install on a 6th Gen that I’ve seen. 👍
Once you realized your Jack stand placement was bad bc you needed to take the cradle brace down, you put some kind of ramps under your front tires? What we’re they?
Those are race ramp wheel cribs 10 inch. Pricey.
great video, question, after you did that check engine light come´s up? and how do you turn off?, thank you
We had to tune the car to keep everything happy.
I can’t get my steering shaft off to save my life! Looks simple but it won’t budge
Did u had to wrap the wire harness close to headers on the passenger side??
Is running catless headers with the npp valve closed gonna effect the life of the muffler ?
I don’t think it’ll have any negative effects.

I got a question bro can you reuse the headers bolts with the tsp headers?
Yes you can.
@@PetesGarageandperformance and what o2 extensión you recommend bro?
I am pretty sure they came with the headers. If not, I don’t remember.
What size plugs did you end up using to plug up where the secondary cats go to
Cool video😎I just did manifolds on a 94' ford V8....OMG broken studs everywhere😔
Awwww hell no! It’s nice when the cars are new. I hate having to extract broken bolts and studs.
@@PetesGarageandperformance lol yup🥵
Did you need two oxygen sensor extensions? Or just one?
Do you have a number need help with my 13 Buick lacrosse don’t know if my timing jumped on me thanks

I know this is texas speed also
I did not have any trouble around the starter. I didn’t remove it. But like you said, it’s two different sets of headers.
@@PetesGarageandperformance thanks for prompt response, great video!
How long do you think it would take with no air tools just trying to get a guestimate
Probably 4-6 hours
@@PetesGarageandperformance cool thank you!! And great tutorial 👍
I have a 2014 Camaro SS with long tube headers and high flow cats and I'm getting codes for rich to lean on the o2 sensors you think I can tune that car and pass emissions?
Yes it needs a tune. The reason it’s setting that code is because the o2 sensor is further downstream and there’s more of a delay.
i really hope you respond to this so i can attempt to by the headers and the off road pipe, can you send a link that will take me straight to both of those please
Here’s the link to what they have for a 2016 Camaro. www.texas-speed.com/c-3288-headers-xy-pipes_chevrolet-camaro-2016.aspx
I bought the same headers would you recommend wrapping them up?
No. I wouldn’t. I’ve never been a fan of wrapping headers unless they’re on a turbo build and you were trying to tame down underhood temps.
@@PetesGarageandperformance understood thank you 💪🏼
No problem.
Hey Pete awesome video…how long did it actually take you to complete the job?
Probably about 6 or 7 hours. I can’t really remember. It was so long ago.

Also I saw the link in the desc for the headers but that takes you to the main page, does any1 have the exact link for these?

I’m pretty sure they were 1 7/8”. I wonder if TSP pulled them off the website due to the EPA crackdowns.

You’d need a shorty style header to retain the factory cats. Honestly the factory manifolds are practically shorty headers.
How do you put back in the dip stick I tried it before I put the header on and after and could not get it back in
Lube up the o-ring. Once it’s all lined up, it should slide in.
@@PetesGarageandperformance I tried that but I can’t find where it came out off
The hole is near the starter at the top of the oil pan.
@@PetesGarageandperformance Alright man thank you!
What connection pipes do I need to connect Speed Engineering long tube to MBRP Catback for 17' SS
Not sure. Does the MBRP cutback go all the way back to the x pipe? If not, cut the factory midipe like in the video and be good.
Whats the torque specs on the headers bolts ?
17 foot pounds. But I always do 18 on ls engines. Never looked it up on one of the LT engines until now
Okay forshure thanks buddy im about to slap some bbk 1 7/8’s long tubes..JUST SUBSCRIBED BTW 🤙🏼💯

Nope. Just the V8 cars.
