  • A complete look through of removal, disassembly, and reassembly. Hopefully this video will be of some assistance to somebody with carb issues. ATC 250sx's and 250 Big Reds have extremely easy carbs to work on. Here is the tutorial that followed: www.3wheelerwor...
Some really good stuff in here, definitely worth the read

This is by far the best rebuild carburetor video I've ever seen you did a great job keep it up

Literally the best instructional video I've ever seen on a carb rebuild, and exactly what I needed. With the carb being an 85 I was wondering where my 'extra" o-rings go and apparently the air/fuel washer is missing too. The way you laid it out so I could see the differences in o-ring sizes was just what the Dr ordered.

Hey Kevin thanks for taking the time to share this informative video. At around 15:13 it shows you inserting the cupped end first, instead of the 'flat' or cone end of the needle seat into the main jet before the emulsifier tube and jet. You said the flat end always goes first, as I remember taking it out this way. Might be an old video, but might save a couple people a moment if this was in error. Thanks for your 85/86+ side by side video. It really helps! Hope you haven't killed yourself on these things yet, as it's worth the risk :)

I rebuilt my 86 carb It idles fine but bogs out when I hit the Throttle! Thank You!

when the Phillips screws tear the head out, I hit them with a small hammer and a 1/4" punch. this usually reforms the + and breaks the screw loose. on old Mikunis the bowl screws can do this them you can loosen with a small vice grip too.

Very nice video on rebuild. My pilot screw was frozen and broke off even at base of carb. any recommendations from anyone on how to get the pilot screw removed. 1985 250 sx.

i have rebuilt the carburetor on a 1985 honda trx250 fourtrax. runs really good but when im going fast and try to open it up, it wants to cut out like it wants to die. i can let off the throttle and it goes back to running again. what could be the problem? oh yeah, this video helped me alot. thanks.

I know you probably won’t see this comment, but I just got a hold of one of these beautiful machines that was left on a property for a long time. The engine is in good shape but it just needs a new carburetor. The carburetor is completely missing. I was wondering if you could give me a good alternative to the original carburetor, I see lots of comments on Amazon and stuff that some of the ones they are promoting don’t actually work without some serious work. Can you link me or show me anything that would work? Please and thank you

You say the needle jet goes cupped side first but then drop it in with the cup facing down.

Ha! Was told the 250es I was buying was an '86 and the actual year is rubbed off the frame, but, she's got an '85 carb now that I see the differences! This ole girl has a gnarly knock when cold and without full choke but disappears when the engine warms up... runs incredibly smooth afterwards tho so hopefully a thorough cleaning slays the beast.. I came across a weird issue with the starter due to a one way bearing failing.. have you seen This with your machines?

Great video! But how do you get the actuator arm out? I removed the screw and couldn't figure out how to remove the slide

Awesome work man great video! I have a 1987 I've been working on. Do those vent tubes go to anything or do they just free dangle to the air? Can't tell on mine because someone had tinkered with it.

HI IM used to working on snowmobile carbs and have never done a kehin carb. My question is: Ive noticed some aftermarket carbs on ebay using the sub to part # from the atc250sx carbs. 16100-ha6-033. Am I better off buying the whole carb or the rebuild kit? My 85 will not idle. It also running very rich. there's a bit of gas in the muffler. Nice video.

How do you "sync" the butterfly valve and piston type valve?
Mine has a ton of play and I'm thinking that's why it won't idle correctly.
I don't understand how to sync them together.

At 7:49 you mention a washer behind the actuation arm. Is this just on the '86? My '85 does not have this washer and as far as I know, it's never been apart.

You didn't show how you synchronized the slide and butterfly. That's what I was looking for. Mine has worse of a gap than yours did and can't figure out how to adjust it.
