I feel like I have to experience a full polar night at some point in my life. It sounds fantastic.
It really is an experience! 😍
I live in Belfast, N. Ireland where it gets dark between 3-4.00pm during the height of winter. I find our winters tough going, I don't think I could survive with 3 months of complete darkness. However, there's no denying where you live is absolutely beautiful and unspoilt, and a your videos offer a great insight into your way of life. Keep up the good work!
no not me either, here in Luleå sun sets now at 2:45 pm, I wouldn't be able to live in Svalbard! I think it's dark enough here.
Why...or perhaps it is better to say how is bleakness necessarily “beautiful”? I wonder if what we’re really saying is “It’s nice to see a place without freeways and shopping malls”. But is that automatically “Beautiful”?
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 The lack of humans is beautiful. the lack of pollution is beautiful. Humans ruin anything and everything except people that live in these places. so yes a place without freeways and shopping malls in automatically beautiful. screw humans.
@@roxz0rzboxz0rz - To be sure, most of the world’s problems can be traced to overpopulation. However, extreme weather and bleak isolation are just as ugly as any big city.
That’s what I meant when I said that EVERYONE living in this frozen wasteland likely has certain personality issues. They likely are RUNNING AWAY from something.
In your case…you are highly misanthropic. Which means, of course, you don’t like yourself very much either.
Middle part of Finland, only vodka, Sauna and Immortal (the band) keeps us warm during winter.
I'm disabled and bedridden due to spinal disease. I'm unable to leave my home. Before my Adhesive Arachnoiditis destroyed my life, I was an avid outdoorsman and traveler. I loved the western states here in the US. I've made many solo motorcycle trips to Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, and my favorite state of all-Montana. Hiking and camping in remote areas recharged me and rejuvenated my soul. Lying in my sleeping bag at night I'd drift off to sleep by gazing up at the stars. I'm now living my adventurous life vicariously through your wonderful videos. You almost seem like an old friend to me now, Cecilia. Thanks for sharing your videos with the rest of us. Please give Grim a big hug and kiss for me.
I’m someone who loves the darkness. I feel happiest at sunset, must be my Scandinavian roots! I’m in USA about an hour from Canada so I love winters and the darkness. I thought it was weird until I saw how you’re so excited for winter and darkness, must be more like me!
Me too.You are not alone.
I'm from Southern California and weather wise, I have never felt like I belong here. I want winter.
Me too, I live in maine 1 hr from Canada and I moved from Florida never been happier!
Can't imagine the darkness, but that is a beautiful sunset.
I love your enthusiasm for where you live, it seems magical. The fact that it is so isolated but that the community pull together to make it work is fantastic.
Don’t be ashamed of saying it’s beautiful! It truly is beautiful! Especially MR.Grim!!!!❤️
💕💕💕
@@CeciliaBlomdahl I looove it when you say that!😍
Gosh it is just so beautiful, Cecelia. Would you consider doing a video about how your self-care routine changes during polar night? Eg. Do you have to do anything to address the fact that you are not getting daylight? How do you ‘slow’ your body down into a new pace of life? Do social/daily routines change? Would love to hear more about it! Xx 💕❄️
The nordics holiday in southern europe in the winter. Also have special lights to fake sunlight.
She's said in a previous video that she takes Vitamin D and maintains a very strict sleeping schedule.
@@WyrdHag I am sorry but your poverty is not my fault. I do know many northern and other europeans that often visit my country and other southern countries especially in winter for a nice change.
@@Bracarensis Some Nordic people do travel south during winter, but *most* of us choose to stay at home or travel somewhere else, and it has mostly nothing to do with money (presuming someone lives in poverty because they don't travel abroad is pretty rude tbh). Plus, only very few have those special lamps. They tend to be people who genuinely suffer from the darkness (e.g. depression).
@@Bracarensis rude!
Discovered your channel today! Love it. Can’t beat this type of environment, you are living my dream
Yes. I agree.
Shes great! The drone views are beautiful. I dream of going there one day!
I've been watching for about a year now. The most interesting thing about Svalbard is the colors.
Says the guy who's warm inside haha, personally I hate anything below 0 degrees Celsius but I love watching her beautiful environment!
Freezing cold and dark for months,,, no thanks .
ALL of this is SO interesting to me. As a public school teacher, going through one CRAZY and exhausting school year, I find rest in your videos. ❤️
@ItIsWhatItIs calm down babes
@ItIsWhatItIs What's your problem? Not sure why you are so offended by WhatA's comment.
Same! This is my new obsession. :)
I have always been intrigued by the strange phenomenons in the North Pole countries. There is so much beauty and no pollution. Wow! Love ❤️ from India.
My friend complained about the lack of air pollution in Finland. The air is so clear that he had problems in his research. The busiest hours in the busiest place of the capital city showed "zero or very low pollution" by European standards, so he had to create his own standards for the study. The air in northern Finland is bagged and sent to research centers all over the world as "perfect examples" of what air should be.
Sun be like: "I will find you wherever you are! Even in the night I'll send you the northern lights!"
As someone who likes piping hot coffee, I’m obsessed with how quickly your coffee must cool off outside!
I don't drink coffee but I've been wondering the same thing 😅
I read your comment right as I was wondering, "isn't her coffee cold? She needs a thermos just to step outside." 😅
Someone shared your polar night TikTok to Twitter, so I went to TikTok and now I’m here. I’ve watched a few videos and am excited for this one. Your cabin is beautiful!! Your views are beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for coming over here! 😍
Grim being afraid of the floors will never stop being funny to me 😂
I love it when you speak Swedish with GrimBjörn
So much Grim and Fenris cuteness! Oh wow, this made me smile so big my cheeks hurt😁
It's so awesome how much the puppies blend in with their surroundings this time of year
😍😍
One would never tire of the ever changing pastel sky over the water. Absolutely lovely.
Exquisite. Please film a series of the light everyday and show us the day to day changes right now as it goes from pink-pale blue-mauve to blues to black. I want to see the transition. Thanks- I love this one.
Yes! I love how she shows us lovely color changes and lighting in this video over the day…. Exquisite, beyond words Svalbard

Everything has a purple hue. Very beautiful! Thank you 😊 Cecilia and Grim and Christopher, Happy, safe nights ahead.
With the increase in solar flares and explosions going on right now, this might be a really stellar year for northern lights !
There where some visible in Germany, this year already, we never get them!
Years ago my father worked in the Canadian Arctic and used to tell us how beautiful the polar nights are. Watching your videos brings those stories to life. On a separate note, just filled up my car $1.50 a litre in Toronto, seems we are paying the same amount 🤣
Fuel is taxfree on Svalbard compared to mainland Norway where the diesel price is around 19NOK / 1,9 EUR per litre...
Such a beautiful, peaceful time of year. And, Grim's sweet face makes it even more magical. 💙💙
I just discovered your channel yesterday and I am enthralled! I love learning about how different life is in Svalbard. You are such a positive and enthusiastic person and you produce your videos so well 😊Grim is so adorable 💜
Welcome aboard! I'm so glad you enjoy my content and thank you for this kind comment 😍💕
Only 20 seconds in and I’m in awe at the beauty and peacefulness of Svalbard! Here’s to the polar night!!!🥂❤️
That blue twighlight is simply magnificent.
I love the blue and pink light of the day, the aqua blue of the glacier with the warm light hitting the snowy mountains in the background. Such a magical place. 😍 I would love to visit during polar night. I would come during February to see those beautiful blue hours for myself. I love your videos.
i really don’t understand people who dislike cold weather, this looks like a DREAM
I never knew about civil and nautical twilight..fascinating to see the change through your videos..thank you Cecilia
I never get tired of seeing the beauty of Svalbard.
The pink skies are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Enjoy your serenity of darkness. 🌛
I just discovered your channel about a week ago and just want to say thanks, all the way from Atlanta, USA. I find myself watching them before bed and they’re really relaxing. I love learning about places on literally the opposite side of the world - love your videos so much!
Awesome! Thank you so much for being here! 💕
Actually the antipode of Atlanta, Georgia is Gnarabup, Western Australia, Australia
Hi Cecilia.
I just decovered your channel a few days ago. I can't get over how beautiful Swalbard is. Absolutely beautiful, you and Chris and the dogs are so lucky to be away from this crazy world.
Would love to visit those islands some day.
Greetings from Ireland.
Thanks for being here! 😊😊
Hi cecilla only just discovered your channel the content you cover is brilliant I've subscribed aswell too.
That scene at around 6 minutes was really really gorgeous
I am a person who loves darknes, quiet and cold...snow and ice....listening to you and seeing the images I know i would love it too! Happy Polar nights time...Look forward to future videos...always pleasure ..thank you Cecilia! hug Jana
Wow, that morning view from your house was stunning! Really enjoying your videos and your cinematography. Greetings from Canada!
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
The scenery is so Breathtaking someday I would love to take a trip to see them in real time. It reminds me of the Breathtaking Glaciers in Alaska we have taken many Cruise to Alaska I would spend so much time on deck breathing in the Beauty around me 😀
I love your channel. I was wondering when the sun would 'go' - now you've answered the question. Many thanks again for a great video.
Thank you for watching! 😊
Omg this is amazing, thanks so much Cecilia. So exiting to get to see how the polar night starts. I can’t wait to see how the polar night evolves in your videos. Thanks to your videos learning about our universe and our planet makes more sense as most of us never get to see what all that looks like , the twightlights and all that. Understanding the angles of the sun and how you guys literally hide from the sun during the magnificent polar night. It’s just amazing that you are sharing this with us. Sharing it with the world 🌎 thanks again 🙂🌌 🌒
This brought tears to my eyes. The humanness of celebrating the world you are in and the oddities of it all. We're at a latitude of 50 north, so never have days shorter than 8 hours .
Your channel is like a beautiful piece of artwork !! Can’t get enough!!!!!
Wow, thank you! 💕
As I prepare for winter here in Illinois, I'm exited to experience yet another with you. Somehow your winter is so much more entertaining than mine. Here's to the next season!
Beautiful sky! Always wonderful to get a video from you. Grim and Fenris are so adorable! Thank you Cecilia!
So magical, I have no words. Your videos are a treasure and such a pleasure to watch you, you can say “beautiful” a billion times!! This video is so beautiful and the music, love the lighting and color changes throughout the day. Thank you! ❤️
It is a very beautiful place but it is probably very hard to live without sun for such a long period of time.... Much love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 🤗 ❤ 💙
It’s so beautiful Cecilia 🌙 , I’m in Australia- it’s currently 29 C , spring, and my husky and I are sitting in air conditioning watching this vid. Earth is just amazing! Just love all your videos 🥰
I love your optimism and positivity! Thank you :)
I am a night shift nurse (11 to 7 ) and I love being out when it is dark. Sure I love the warm time when the sun is out longer but the cold time to me is magical. I live in NYS
I am loving your videos so much. I lived in Iceland for 2 years, so seeing what life is like about 10 degrees of latitude farter north is just fascinating to me! Please keep up the good work!!
I’ve been watching since your first couple of videos - and I’m so happy every time I see a new upload! 🥰
Yay! Thank you so much for being here! 😍
Yes!!!! The magical Polar Nights begin, stay warm and safe Cecilia, Chris and Grim xxx💗💗💗 Hi Fenris ❤
I'm on my 3rd day binge-watching all your videos! Thank you so much for sharing the beauty and love within and around you!
Absolutely wonderful video! I had to watch it twice. Give Grim an extra treat just for being so adorable. ❤
You are so kind!! I will 😊😊
@@CeciliaBlomdahl ❤❤❤❤❤
Lots of a Grim time. Yay! Loved the music in this video. Your polar night shots remind me of my years in Stockholm. Of course not as far north, but still enough north that we had very little sunlight in the winter. I first moved there in July and noticed that the interior of most buildings was white with white or light furnishings. When winter came I realized why!
Fenris was so happy to see Cecilia. He adores her. I can tell he was very happy. Cecilia brushed his fur coat.
Cecilia, You made me fall in love with Svalbard. I love your attitude toward Svalbard.Thank you for bringing us with you to this remote island.I appreciate you! I can't spend a day, without watching your video. Freaking relaxing.
😍 Grim!!!! Oh I love the colors of Svalbard sky!! 😍 seems to be always pretty 🤩
This month has been incredible !! 💕💕
Thank you for sharing this special moment. The colors are amazing!😳
Glad you enjoyed it! 😍
Always so happy to see your videos! Beautiful! Loved the last sunset and so looking forward to seeing the polar nights videos. Also, I always enjoy your conversations to us and with others, just so heart warming. Love the pups! Cheers from Newfoundland!
Thank you so much for sharing the details of this particular period of time in Svalbard….it’s fascinating and I love being brought along in such a closeup, personal way--you have a real talent for this, thank you!
How beautiful and exciting! And your furry baby is adorable..
Love your channel! It gives me some perspective of what life must be like all the way up North! Love from Brazil xx
Glad you enjoy it!
I never want your videos to end. Thank you.
Sometimes the yt algorithm is a beautiful thing and brings you spectacular things
I started following you after this started last year. I did get to see the sunfest video. This is so wonderful to watch. Looking forward to seeing your Aurora pictures. I actually had to turn my phone completely off last night. Solar storm issues😂. Sending you, Christofer, & Grim lots of hugs and love ❤️❤️❤️

This is the most amazing channel on youtube. I started watching last November, you never disapoint. Svalbard is now on my bucket list💖💖💖

@@CeciliaBlomdahl No thank you, you have open my eyes to travel outside the US and boy oh boy did you raise the bar high. Peace and blessings to the both of you, tell Grim hi💖😂💖
Woohoo! The start to this time of year is just so beautiful. 😊
Cecilia, you are so happy and have such a good attitude! I admire your ability to be excited and happy about your life and especially about the polar night. I live in Texas and am so used to warm weather and sunshine! I'd have to hibernate until February if I lived in Svalbard! But I love the beauty of your landscape and your enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing it with us!
I live in the north of Sweden (Luleå).
I'm only here for the third winter and polar nights are not a problem for me at all. I've read a lot about people being depressed at the time but I wouldn't agree. I agree with you that they definitely have their beauty.
I guess we're all different. Mediterranean winters are too dark for me with the sun setting at around 4 pm. I couldn't even imagine it being dark for a couple of months, I would want to move within two days lol
I discovered your channel last week, and I am really obsessed, can’t stop watching your videos 😍 Hugs from sunny Croatia 🤗
Pozdrav iz Zagreba 😃
Every video is perfect, as well as your description of your surroundings. Thank you for sharing the beauty around you. ❤️
Your videos are so comforting to watch. I always get bundled up warm in bed to watch them because they make me feel so cosy omg. Makes me excited for winter in Canada now
I’m from Kenya and the Equator cuts our country into equal-ish halves. Watching your videos makes me get mind blown, I possibly can’t visualize a 20-minute period between sunrise and sunset, I’m used to equal days and nights all year round. I discovered your channel a few days ago and I’m binge watching your videos. Hopefully one day I’ll experience this kind of breathtaking phenomena.
Miriam - Why would a sustained night scape equal a “breathtaking phenomena”? To a blind person, it is always dark…but he is not in a state of bliss because of it.
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 because I have never experienced that, and I can't visualize it owing to the fact that I'm from a country which the Equator cuts into equal halves. I want to experience how all dark / all sunny day feels and looks like. Surely, I'm allowed to, am I not?
The blue light looks so beautiful! I was on Svalbard in may this year (I was an exchange student in Bergen during that time, so I could still come as a foreigner despite the COVID restrictions) and it was absolutely beautiful. Obviously, we had daylight 24/7 which was a crazy and beautiful experience ... buuut I might have to come back in February to see the civil twilight! Love your videos :)
I too love this channel! You should try another channel, called Trout & Coffee! A lot of fall colors from Massachusetts, Vermont, Northeast areas!

I'm from Melbourne too 😊 It blew my mind when I realised we're twice as close to the equator as Longyearbyen!
I found your channel last week and love it! I'm learning so much - I appreciate you posting these pieces of your life for us. Just a suggestion: Grim will be happier if you can put a little anti-slip mat on that step to the door. My husky has the same hesitation on non-carpeted floors, but a simple rubber backed mat and he's happy to go where I go.
I love the way that you capture the changing of the seasons. Great to see Grim and his naughty brother together again as well.

Hello from Ottawa, we certainly don’t have polar nights but I love the winter for the change of pace and the peace and quiet that winter brings. I just love having four seasons to look forward to :)
When I lived in Florida I traveled to Otawa for 5 days on business in the dead of winter. I was never so cold in my life. However, I did enjoy seeing the huge ice sculptures and watching ice skaters on the frozen canal.
