Christopher in almost any situation “It’s ok.”☺️
😂😂
That’s what a man does…reassures his loved ones.
My husband is as layed back and caring Christoffer is 😊 My husband makes me feel always so safe and loved😊
like a viking....calm and capable no nonsense. :)
I think one needs this kind of attitude to live in such a remote, isolated place.
Christopher seems like such a lovely, chill guy. It's really nice to see him more in your vlogs. Also, the way you guys both dote in Grim is heart warming. ☺🥰
He really is 🥰🥰
@@CeciliaBlomdahl he seems like the classic 'Northern Guy' - mostly quiet and reserved, but when they warm up to you, you've found a friend for life.
Yes, I am very happy to see and hear his comments think you make a great couple.
@@CeciliaBlomdahl Hello Cecilia! Could you please share the color of your pergo flooring?? Thank you!!!
Isn't there another dog? Where is that dog?
I love how not worried Chris is in anything. 😂 ….. “Hey Chris, you just won a million dollars!!!” Chris: “Oh ok. That very nice.” …. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
I watch in amazement. What a life you and Christoffer lead. I live in the Nevada desert by choice. We average around 108F - 115F during the summer months. People often ask me how we stand it, and always I give the same answer, you and your body adapt, and you learn to live around the climate conditions. During those months we do many things at night. The temperature doesn't drop much, but at least the sun isn't beating down on you. Having an A/C is a must in your home and your car. Then I watch you and wonder how you stand the cold. You seem to love living there as much as I love living here. I think I am in awe of your channel as it is so different, the life you have, over the life I have. I am so glad I found your channel. I read about it in an article in the Daily Mail. I am hooked! Thank you two so much for sharing. I really enjoy watching you!

Couldn't you do your own channel?? I would sooo love to see your life :)
hy how i can come in svalbard from Qatar any flight recommend i dont have schengen visa please let me know.
I live in south Texas and before that Cleveland Ohio. I could deal with the heat and cold but not the long daylight/night.
I live in Australia and the heat is awful in summer. I love the Svalbard videos and wish to visit what is the opposite side of the earth from here.
Not gonna lie, I'm watching these videos for the rare glimpse of Christopher. Easily one of the top 3 dudes I'd like to have a beer with at some point. In a world dominated by the daily hustle, he is the last beacon of humanities true inner peace lol.
I feel myself mellowing out when Christopher is on camera. I like that he is so unperturbed by everything.
😍😍
Christopher seems to be getting more and more comfortable being in front of the camera, it might not seem like it haha but as a viewer of probably a year now I can tell the difference between now and when I started watching.
Hahha right?! So much more comfortable! 😍 I'm glad you also think so 🥰
It’s not easy for some people to be comfortable with putting themselves on display the way UA-camrs do. My husband would get a colonoscopy without anesthesia before he’d participate in a UA-cam video.
Kristofer (so?) is such a gentle, calm person. He provides a nice quiet balance, even though it’s not very dramatic.
@@CeciliaBlomdahl why don't you put metal roller shutters on the windows outside the house? this might protect the glass and save some warmth in the hurricanes
@@nadiabu5318 Triple glass windows don't really let out any heat even in storms. But metal does.
@@MrZnarffy i thought it could probably protect from the wind rushing, but im not expert here of course
My gawd, the image in the beginning of the video of the village all lit up in the beautiful blue night, with the mountains and snow in the background-just stunning.
Only Cecilia would track down the wind for us! I appreciate the lengths you and Christoffer go through to show us life on Salvard. Loving the Polar nights! The cabin looks so warm and cozy!
Christopher is such a good guy. Not only does he go check everything but puts a cam on to do it with!!! Goooo Christopher, boyfriend goals..
I have literally binged watched all your videos like a Netflix show 🙊😅 I love your videos! So calming in stressful times, thank you for what you do and keep up the amazing work! 💕
Finally someone mentioned being tired more during midsummer than polar nights!! I haven't experienced this to such an extent as you there but living in Lithuania where we have no night in the summer and long dark hours in winter, I never thought I would feel worse in summer than winter. Also, there is a big importance of maintaining an evening routine during midsummer nights, to be able to 'unwind' and get ready for sleep!
Yeees the midnight sun season is bruuutal!!
Similar here in Latvia. I wonder if I actually feel better during dark winter days or long summer days. In winter there's sort of more time to relax while in summer the brain still goes "Sun is up, go go go!"
I live in Finland and we get some midnight sun, it's definitely harder for my mental health than winters and basically no light during the day. Though now I live a bit more south than I did last winter but the difference isn't that big in practice.
@@saulecloud2279 yes, I do feel it can create more anxiety, whereas darkness could feel like more depression, but I find it to be more manageable. In theory, creating darkness should be easier than creating sunlight conditions, but, in practice, it was literally empathizing my anxiety
Well, there are certainly individual differences here. I really love the midnight sun, I have more energy and don't feel tired at all. I also sleep with no curtains on the window and it's so great waking up to a lit room. As for the polar night, I'm going to say what Christopher said, I feel "nothing", it's just normal mode for me.
I just love seeing your way of life. I’m a winter lover and prefer darkness to light, the peacefulness, the awesome environment that you live in and the serenity of your world is pure heaven on earth!
I love seeing Christopher in front of the camera. Would love to see him cook more local or Swedish food. My Dad was full Swedish.
Have really enjoyed learning about your lives in a place that is so different from where I live in Missouri USA. Found your channel a few weeks ago and have tried to watch every video to catch up on all I have missed. I have learned so much from you. I had no idea how beautiful it is where you are. Your music choices and the beautiful shots of the land you have captured, make it so fun and relaxing to watch your videos. Thank you very much for sharing.
I also live in Missouri! I have just started watching this channel for the hygge. Which we don't have much of in Missouri. But the other night, I dreamed that I didn't have running water in my house. It was a nightmare!!
Me too from WV, USA I just love them and this extraordinary place. 6/21/22
My husband and I have just moved back to my home island in the Western Isles off Scotland and he’s still very much getting used to the weather here! We’re getting ready for 77mph winds this week and he’s quite frightened but everyone has been telling him ‘It’s just a little breeze!’
OMG your island must be so beautiful
You need a UA-cam channel
Just love the way you and Kristofer work together as a team, and sweet Grim is the cutest ever!!❤❤
shes so full of knowledge!
Hi I recently found your channel and I am really really envious of the things you all have I am I've never been out of the United States except for a brief moment to go to Canada which wasn't very much and I'm an older lady but I love to watch things where people actually live the life they want to live I live in Knoxville Tennessee it is in the US of course it's a very it's not a big huge place rather small actually and it's just all country folk and if we have that much snow even for 5 minutes our whole entire town would shut down and we would never reopen I am not lying it is absolutely hilarious we act like everyone is going to starve to death and freeze to death and 2.2 seconds so again I absolutely think you have a fantastic home fantastic couple and a very very wonderful fur baby and I am very glad I have found you all have a good safe week and again thank you for letting me see something that I will probably never get to see in person ☺️
Love your videos , been binge watching them for the last couple of days. Svalbard is so beautiful, love from Melbourne Australia
Im also bingewatching right now!
Awesome! Thank you! 😍😍😍😍
I’ve also been binge watching from Melbourne Australia. Such a beautiful place to live
Me too 🤣
Me too
chris is the kinda guy you need in situations like these, he's a calming presence, it's all gonna be ok LOL cause i'd be histerical LOL guess getting new tripled paned windows in the living room might a future home reno project? :)
I’ve only recently subscribed to your channel but i find it captivating- especially the walks, the Aurora Borealis, the town and scenery. Grim is just the coolest dog (big dog fan/owner) and your personality is so cheerful and really makes it really interesting. I’m South African born and raised so heat is my thing and the cold scares me, yet seeing this there is something oddly appealing about such a wild, cold yet beautiful landscape! Keep up the fascinating videos!
Im so happy I found your videos.. they make me feel so cozy with the cold weather here in Germany 🥰
I'm so glad! 🧡🧡🧡
I’m surprised you guys don’t have blinds or nice thick curtains up on those exposed windows in winter. Makes everything cosy, and provides a bit more insulation. I’d be shopping madly for some gorgeous insulated curtains. ❤️
I wondered about the lack of drapes too.
It definitely would help in keeping the cold air at bay. Especially nice thick ones. But, perhaps they like the view more?
I'd have blinds that have an image out the dark sky with stars and the moon. 😂 so when I looked out the window at a certain time I'd trick myself into thinking it's dark out.
I live in southeast Georgia in the U.S. We have hot summers and mild winters with high humidity. It's wonderful here except for the hurricanes. 😳
I enjoy your channel. Learning about Svalbard from your experiences is more interesting than reading a book or watching a documentary.
I hope you're earning very good money for your efforts. Thank you.
I’ve been binge watching your videos all weekend. Fascinating! So thankful I came across your channel. You guys are awesome! Thank you for sharing your life with us.
I love watching storms, as long as no one gets hurt of course. Thank you for taking us outside to see it up close and personal. Few UA-camrs will do that. 😊
Another beautiful video. I love Grim's new vest. You can really see him, even during polar night. And Christoffer is now becoming a star in his own right too. I absolutely love your videos.
I got so excited to see you posted a new vlog (I clicked right away), the extra serotonin from seeing Grim, your positive energy and the beautiful polar night Svalbard landscape is a wonderful way to start my day. Good morning from Ontario, Canada. ☕️☺️💛
Cecilia. you really display your true Viking genes. Despite the cold, the hard wind and the snow you really enjoy yourself! You say "LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS" more than anything else, and it is obvious that you mean it from the bottom of your soul 👍❤. I agree with the others here, Christoffer looks more confident on camera now! Thank you for sharing. Hej då!
Walking in the middle of the darkness with the wind all around is so magical , so surreal . Thank you so much for sharing!!!😘
Wow. So intense. You all seem so accepting of the harsh elements. Brave, positive and resilient in your lovely part of the world. Thanks for sharing. We love you.
Wow! glad you guys are ok, that was some interesting footage, not sure if I would casually take a walk in a storm like that. You and Christopher are awesome, oh and we cant forget adorable Grim. Keep safe xxx
Any videos showing other people's lives in places so far in feeling from my own, I'm all in. It's why I travel. Take me away. Widen my perspective on things. I love these. Thanks for all the content.
Wow fabulous Cecilia. You have your boys to keep you safe. Stay safe, warm and happy lovely girl 🇬🇧 🙋♀️ xx
Love seeing Christopher with you when your filming. It’s exciting the storms in a scary way. Love your fire. Yous just hibernate. Sounds amazing xx
I’m not sure how I found your videos but so glad that I did. Love the peacefulness and beautiful views in your videos. A splendid way to live life.
“We live our lives through any weather!” I can relate! We are all about storm preparedness down here! Totally enjoy your videos! With love from south Louisiana ❤️
Up here in Canada, we still walk to the bus stop, we just bundle up a little.
Whenever you go out with Grim in the dark and can only see as far as your headlamp the darkness is scary and I'm thinking constantly about polar bears. Would Grim see, hear or smell them and be able to give a little advance notice that something is out there?
Dogs in general have good senses. 10x better than us humans
@@nonamerooster5413 Totally agree. When our dogs go "off their nut" barking we know there's something worth investigating. When they're just doing their "communicate around the area" bark it's just "OK, the dogs are barking to each other."
Are the polar bears hibernating?
@@petat13 Polar bears don't hibernate
Pregnant females do kinda hibernate though, while they have their cubs right?
Thank God that you, Christopher, Grim, and your cabin are safe! God bless each of you.
I love your old videos; the moving music, the raw and real feel, the coziness, the connection , and the feeling of being right there with you.
Cecilia, I was getting worried as you had not posted any new videos in the past 3 to 4 days. So there was a hurricane, so far in the north, something I was not expecting. I hope Christopher and you and Grimm are doing fine and that you weathered this storm without any damage to your property and/or vehicles etc.. Take care
I love watching your videos, they're SO cozy even though you live in one of the coldest places on earth. I live in Canada and dread winter every year, but watching your videos can help me change my attitude and start seeing winter as beautiful and not focus on the negatives about it. Thanks.
Cecelia, would you please plan to devote one episode to Svalbard's "Fossil Forest"? I read about it only one week ago, and am eager to find out more about it. Thanks in advance, Tish 👵🏻 🤗 ❄️ 🌬
And the Global Seed Vault!! Heard about that? So cool 🤩🌱
Keeping you in my thoughts. We live in the upper Mid-west of the States and we experience blizzards. We also agree November is certainly our ‘transition’ month to winter too no doubt!
I totally agree with winter mode. I honestly agree While I love the brighter light of spring, I’m sad to leave winter mode. I like Mother Nature interrupting the daily life mode. Especially when we get back to back to back storms and temps don’t hit sub-zero too long.🌨❄️☃️
I spent 40 years in WI and now live in SC. It’s funny how much the seasons do impact us. I added room darkening curtains to actually create cozy weather in the middle of the day during the height of summer. I was really curious about the average temps in Svalbard and was surprised to learn that the Gulfstream keeps the average lows above zero degrees F, even in February (on the western end). WI/upper Midwest (albeit shorter winters and more daylight), actually seems to have lower temperatures than western Svalbard. That surprised me. But those blizzards winds on Svalbard sound painful!
I really dislike the cold but here I am binge watching all of your videos 😆 ❄️
😍😍😍
Me too. I'd be miserable & bored all cooped up in the cold 🥶& dark. Glad she enjoys it😊💙🧊
Beautiful people in a beautiful place with a BEAUTIFUL PUP, you have found your gift Cecilia :)
I think it’s so amazing how you find beauty in the middle of a snow storm. And are able to portray that in your videos ❤️
🇨🇦 lol Here where I live in Ontario Canada, we have a one hr time change. We call it **Fall Back, **Spring ahead!**.
I know that 1 hr really does affect me as funny as it seems, considering how it is for you's in Svalbard! Winter months that 1 hour, really does make a big difference to us. Going to work in the dark and 5:00 p:m, coming home in the dark. I know it must sound crazy to yous that most of us get all crazy because of that one hour but myself Cecilia, I like the darker evenings. To live in Svalbard I would think that a person would have to do a lot of visiting first to see how they would be able to thrive through the cold and the darkness. Although it is certainly one of the most beautiful places in the world, there would be a lot of adjusting to go through. Thank you both for the beautiful videos! 🙏🤗
We experience hurricane season from June 1-November 30 here in Florida. It’s a little nerve racking. Oddly enough even when one’s prepared its still scary. So happy to hear you guys are ok. 💕
Yeah we were in the middle of hurricane ian...that was a monster
I think you two are a good match. Chris has a certain calm and quietude that is reassuring. He's a guy's guy, meaning he doesn't speak much but just does what's required every day... Splits wood, stacks wood, brings some inside, repairs the roof shingles, takes care of the house, the sleds, truck, and never gets overly excited. Good job, Chris :-D
Glad the storm died down and you made it through okay. Those were fierce winds! 💨❄️💨❄️
My brother-in-law has a modern farmhouse that's on 55 acres of forested land in Ontario, Canada. The country kitchen has a large cast iron wood stove that's used for heating only. There's a large 1M x 1.5M vent hood directly above the stove (1/2M above) that collects the heated air and it connects to an exposed 12" insulated pipe-in-pipe galvanized spiral vent piping that distributes it to the living room then to the 4 bedrooms. The spiral piping has 2 variable speed fans that draw the heated air to the living room and bedrooms. There's supplementary electric baseboard heating but it's very rarely required. Large 1.5M low-speed ceiling fans push the heated air down at various locations.
Cecilia, Thank you for showing us the stormy side of life in Svalbard! Christoffer is such a good man. Grim always brings a smile. Glad you weathered the storm! Great video again! Stay safe and well.
That scene where you're up on the mountain overlooking the town is so charming !
Man, a lot of suspence - it's almost like a thriller. Thanks for inlightning us on life on Svalbard, inspiring and interesting 👍✌❤
So grateful you were spared from harm and danger from the wind.
And your home was safe.💕
We live in Yellowknife and this is our first winter here. Loving the darker days, thankbyoubfor inspiring me and helping to embrace it. I love your positivity. I am enjoying the slowness winter brings and the cozy nights at home. It was -27 today feeling like -41c. It cold but dressed appropriately you still get out. I walk every day for at least half hour from work to home and today I saw 2 young fox playing it was so cute. Loving iurbexperince hope to visit Svalbard one day
Wow!! You're far up there! I live in MN and watch Cecilia to remind me to find the beauty in the shorter days and the cold. I hope you are able to embrace the season like Cecelia!
What a place. Interesting and beautiful but also a little scary in an exciting way. Stay safe. Ty for sharing.
So glad the storm wasn't as bad as you expected!! I had to laugh, I just took my dog Nala out and thought how chilly it was, and it's 9 degrees here🤣(Salisbury, South West UK). Doesn't compare really!!! Grim looks very ha daome in his new hi-vis vest, and I need to see him in his 'chariot', that's adorable!!!! Have a lovely week x
Christoffer is the calm in the storm. And I 💖 the last few minutes of vid w/u & Grimm
Somehow stumbled upon your channel by accident, but we've been binge watching. So interesting to me that people choose to live where it is so cold. I break out my jackets if it's below 65 degrees F here in North Carolina. Love seeing Grim and Christopher!
Ringing endorsement for Arcteryx. Love that Christopher picked that jacket for the storm!
Christoffer, the guy you want in any stressful situation 😁 I would feel safe with him Cecelia, fabulous vlog, what a place 🤩

You live in the most fascinating place so far removed from my reality that your videos are becoming compulsive viewing. I watch each video and find them incredulous and inspiring
nice to hear your perspective on the fatigue you feel during polar night! I feel like we all need a season of the year to slow down and relax.
Wowww that was a GREAT video, Cecelia. Watching you guys "batten down the hatches" for the storm is comforting. I wish you an uneventful next few days! Take care, from California
Thank youu! 🧡

Christoffer is warming up to the camera great!
Last year we had a storm here in North Pole that had winds around 30mph and everyone was calling it the storm of the century...haha. No wind, deep snow and really low temps are our norm.
Its -31°f right now. Love the videography! Stay warm guys!
North Pole, AK?
@@cory604 Actually they live on the island of Svalbard, directly north of Norway, above the Arctic Circle. It's pretty close to the North Pole. It's a harsh landscape, but that is part of its beauty. I would love to go there, at least for a visit.

I love how you call your home a cabin. Here a cabin …… is basically a wooden shack with no electricity and no running water!!! I love your cabin!!!!! It’s beautiful!!!!!! Love your videos!!!! 🇨🇦
You asked why you get so many storms this time a year.
I’m from the Faroe Islands 🇫🇴 and we also get ALL those storms that you get as well. They come because of the Gulfstream current. The warm waters from the gulfstream, collide with the cold northern hemisphere, which gives us these crazy storms.
We’re so used to them by now.
I’ll go out as normal until it reaches 50 m/s. Then I’ll sit my arse back and wait it out. Our record is 83m/s. (Ps. That’s also why we don’t have any trees 🌲 in the Faroe Islands or Svalbard.
I love you blog, it’s nice to get a glimpse into how you live.
I’m happy you all and the house weathered the storm well!
I've been through hurricanes, tornadoes and blizzards and they're all scary as hell. My poor dog gets scared if he hears thunder in the distance or if it's raining hard outside, so him in these extreme situations is a nightmare. Poor frightened Grim! I can imagine how scary that wind is to him.
I"m glad the storm wasn't as bad as expected. Yay for the mountain offering some protection!
You, Christoffer and Grim are badass for getting out in that weather, lol. If it gets too windy out here, we all stay inside and my dog potties on the bathroom floor.
Snow and Polar Nights, bliss💞💞
Chris is so cool and calm, loved "Chris cam" your cabin is so cosy, and Grim looks so handsome in his new coat, stay safe and warm xxx❤❤❤
Your video popped up on my feed so I watched it! New sub and binge watching how y'all can live in the cold. While sitting in the hot African sun in Ghana ;) Luv Grim too!!! LOL
That's so fascinating how the world is so connected now. I'm sitting here watching in the NYC heat wave. ❤️
Glad that everyone is sound and safe😊
I appreciate all of the detail you put into talking about weather in your Vlogs! I am From Virginia Beach in the US and we get hurricanes but when they are weaker. I've lived in Michigan for almost a year now and am experiencing snowy Winters for the first time. I am a weather nerd and love looking at the jet streams etc. In the US sometimes we get polar air that comes down and it gets really cold but it's not that often. I can't wait until Michigan gets our first real snowstorm.
"We live our lives through any weather" that's so true :) We also have strong winds like this (if not even stronger) in my area during winter and people just keep going with their life as always.
I even saw people manage to go to work by scooter with more than 150 km/h wind!
OMGoodness, that's 87mph winds!! Oh I hope you all are ok through all of this.
My mom and I just moved to AK last Summer and I can totally relate to the adjusting to the darkness sentiments! It’s nice to not feel obligated to do stuff and you really don’t have to get up or sleep at any specific times if you don’t want/have to! I LOVE IT!
Your videos are like a therapy...love every bit of it...♥️♥️ Lots of love from INDIA
I am in love with that wood burning stove/fireplace in the main room compact size of a stove but with the visual appeal of a fireplace (able to easily see the logs burning inside)
Have you in my mind since came across your videos. My friend(an Aussie) had been there. He fell from snowmobile but luckily didn't break any ribs. He did not spot polar bear though he hoped to see one. Stay calm and you will pass through it. Christopher is a nice guy. Greetings to both of you from very south of China.
i Just love how the two of you work together. You have a beautiful relationship and its awesome to watch!!!. I love your videos!!
Cecilia Blomdahl: Your videos are fairy-tales - with all its beauty and toughness - I love watching them. You make wonderful shoots. Christopher seems to be a real viking: a big, strong, bearded, restrained, short-spoken man. The always-smily Grim is so cute. Compared to our comfortable Central European life, yours is a real CHALLENGE in any season!
good to see Christopher More relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. A part of your life I'm sure there is a bewt smile hiding in there somewhere. Ha!
Glad you are all ok..thanks for braving the storm to show us what y’all have to endure through these storms. I’m so glad Christoffer is joining in the videos with you and Grim😊.
