This episode is simply brilliant, masterfully executed. This is the moment Dandadan lets you know it is far more than a cute romance, cool action and wacky monsters, the manga has both filled me with joy and has wrecked my heart in equal measure, several times. I can only hope that Science Saru maintain this level of quality for the entirety of the adaptation, what a gem.

Gotta say, this was an amazing, Beautiful and tragic episode. Also Aria Best Girl 11:35 Also I’m pretty sure Science Saru had to censor this part because of you know what, but in the manga she Straight up Jumps off a tall building while doing an acrobatic move and falls to the ground practically Killing herself.
Although this can be understood implicitly, for those who may need a clearer explanation: 1. Acro Silky took on various jobs, including "selling herself" and going into debt to support herself and her child. 2. Acro Silky’s child was forcibly taken by the yakuza when she couldn’t repay her debt. The child was possibly then “trafficked” or had their organs sold to pay off her debt. 3. The ballet scene takes place on a rooftop. At the end of the ballet, Acro Silky does a backflip and jumps from a great height, head first, due to her grief over losing her child. This might explain why she later loses her memory and mistakes Aira for her child (it’s also possible that, upon becoming a yokai, some memories naturally fade). 4. It’s confirmed that Acro Silky’s child also passed away after being taken by the yakuza. In the final panel of the manga, they are shown walking toward the light together, along with the monologue, "May they go to a better place."
Bro, let me help you out and copy paste this to other reactions. Some reactors missed a few things. ctto I'm a manga reader so I got these but they animated it so well considering that its a difficult topic.
Yeah, the details are all there if you look for them. In the beginning of the flashback, she's waking up to an alarm but the bathroom light is already on and you can hear the shower running. You can see clothes strewn around on the floor and bed. There are also two very recognizable wrappers on the table at the head of the bed. At the end when she's dancing the lights all around her are the lights of the city. And after she does the big jumping twirl, those lights start rushing by very fast followed by a crunch sound. It's less explicit than the manga, but perfectly uses the medium of anime to portray the same thing with extreme subtlety.
She's a talented dancer, one that could have went pro. Judging by how young she looks plus having a child that is now five, she was probably chasing her dreams in her late teens to become a performer when she got caught in a snare. She's most likely a victim of trafficking, forced to work the love hotel by her traffickers, and had monthly collections to pay up as seen from the calendar. She didn't have enough to pay off the thugs so they took the child. The daughter was most likely trafficked in that scenario and the dress probably sold for cash. We could also assume the child is a product of one of the clients she had to please since at the end we know her regrets were bringing her into her life, potentially indicating that she had a chance to not bring the child into her world knowing what she has to go through. This is how I interpret Acro Silky's situation, the back story is very open minded so i could be wrong.
this anime is an emotional rollercoaster coaster! it’s been all goofy and funny and then the story hits us with this episode with a completely different tone and catches us off guard

as the child of a single mother, this destroyed me to watch. Im an adult now, but my mom voiced similar regrets and sadnesses before. it hurt so much to see my lovely mother who tried so hard, only see her failings and not the wonder and joy and love she brought to my life growing up. this episode made me cry like a baby seeing my life represented on screen (minus the death and kidnapping obviously). no parent should feel this way about raising their child. your children LOVE YOU. its not about the materials you provide, its the LOVE.

the music and the sounds. at the start of the scene when she was fighting, I was angry like so mad that people like that could exist in the world where my childs live. But when the door closed and there was only silence that anger completely transformed into dread like a viceral fear. Wonderfull episode i didnt felt like that in ages the production was out of this world.

She couldn't even avenge her daughter and herself. I'm glad that Aira helped her soul passing to the afterlife in peace, but i can't helped but feeling frustrated that she never has a chance to get her justice or revenge. We never know if karma comes to those yakuza thugs/debt collectors eventually, but i hope that is the case. Imagining if the mother retained her memories after becoming a ghost. Hmm, i can see her having a field day with these two kidnappers (haunting and tormenting those thugs mercilessly, of courses). And seriously, that would be a very satisfied scene to behold.
I wonder if Granny is really that nasty, if it weren't for her explaining Silky Acrobats situation, Aira might not have moved. And she was the first to notice her approaching and told Momo that she wasn't lying. I feel like there's really more to Granny, especially since she helped those girls in the tunnel as well.
