Jeep JK Wrangler Door Hinges Refinishing DIY

- Most Jeep JK Wrangler door hinges start to oxidize and corrode because the hinges are aluminium. I decided to take them off and refinish them for less than $50 total. I am not a paint and body guy. They are not perfect when finished but they look a hell of a lot better when finished. Just follow the steps and you'll be all set.
I did not have access to a sandblaster (it would be nice if I had access to one)
Just remember for alignment purposes just do all the bottoms or tops first and then do the other after you bolt back on the finished ones.
Also be careful when painting the door. When I painted the bolt hole I accidentally painted the window that was in the down position.
All in all I'm satisfied with the looks. - Розваги
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this! Hope all
the work is holding up well.
Glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. Good info on the process. I'm going to do one of mine soon though plan to powder coat it, so hopefully it stay on better.
Thank you for sharing the process.
looks good, nice job
Great vid!
👍🏻 well done 👌🏾 I am going to do the same on my Jeep
Great video! How are they holding up? I’m going to do this to my daughters Jeep. Did you use the silicone paste on the back of the hinges to prevent future rusting? How did your alignment turn out when putting hinges back on? Thanks!
Thanks man!
When mine eventually bubble to the point of chipping, I'll just replace them with some black RedRock hinges for $105. I always seem to make anything I paint look like shit. Great vid though for anyone who wants to tackle the paint job!
Those look really good. If you would have buffed those after the paint is baked in they would’ve probably come out even better.
Did you put new bushings in when you did this, or did you just leave them out? I'm doing this right now and I don't see the point if i just grease them really good. Thanks for the video
Did you repaint the bolts that hold the hinges on the door as well?
Just did this to mine
Great video. Just one point we are talking corrosion not rust. Steel (Fe) rusts and aluminum corrodes. So the primer you bought inhibits corrosion specifically for aluminum? Thanks
Yes the primer is specifically for aluminum
What about the part of the hinge thats attached to the body?
Can you tell me that meeida is the one to remove the bolts thanks
Because they are closer to the front tire and the majority of the road debris hits the rear hinges
Did your doors stayed lined up?
I cringed the entire time thinking about all the over spray on your jeep and the CFCs in your lungs because of the lack of ventilation... eww
what a troll
Buy a Toyota, problem solved!
