    Glad you recovered the bike! Breaking down that far in the back country on a main road isn't fun let alone off trail like that! Looks like that area has lost a lot of access in the past years. We atv'd up Iron (range?) ridge about 15 years ago and came out on one of the main logging roads, was a fun ride and hoped to get back up there one day.

      @@kootenaycat Thanks for watching, indeed it was a battle. Iron range still goes through and makes a loop, a fair bit of alder in spots but it seems to still get a fair bit of traffic

      @@kevinbowers3917 hahahah, this bike is so old it has grease fittings, but it's only good for a few days after each pump.

    Great adventure fellas but I might be able to match it. Tell me what you think.
    Last summer I rode my 1090R from Ottawa to Colorado to ride the Colorado BDR solo. Ride was awesome with some rough riding through the high passes.
    Finished it was gonna do a leg of the Wyoming BDR before I headed home.
    Between the end of COBDR and beginning of WYOMING BDR my bike took a shit on old back road.
    Activated my SPOT device.
    Picked up by Deputy sheriff
    Dropped off at truck stop in Rawlins WY (don’t go)
    4 days getting my shit sorted away.
    Found U-haul dealer and drove 90mins to get the bike.
    Back to the truck stop in Rawlins for 1 more night.
    Drove to Colorado Springs to store bike
    Last minute flight back to Ottawa.
    2mos later epic drive with my son across the country to Colorado Springs to pick up broken 1090.
    3 days. 1000kms a day.
    2 nights resting
    3 days 1000 kms a day to get home.

      @@stevestackpole6817 wow! Now that's a trip. We got lucky that even though it was 40km in the bush, it was only about 20 minutes out of town to the start of the road!

      Still, it sucks.
      If you ever think you’d like to visit Rawlins Wyoming have your best buddy kick you in the balls. It would be more fun.

    Why didn't you take a clutch kit, springs, cable and a handful of tool and quart of oil? Probably get it moving in a half hour. Great job anyway

    • @The-Lakeman
      @The-Lakeman  Місяць тому +1

      @@kevinbowers3917 we though about doing that, the clutch was a while away and we didn't want to have it out in the bush for too long. Although in hindsight that might have been the play.

    Why not just start it in gear and regulate your speed with throttle, breaks, and most importantly kill switch. I would be a no stopping adventure back (at worst you just shut off the bike) but would have been a lot less work? Not trying to throw shade just asking why.

    • @The-Lakeman
      @The-Lakeman  Місяць тому

      Because the clutch doesn't work in the sense that it has no ability to drive the bike. It was basically like 6 neutrals

    • @endurofurry
      @endurofurry Місяць тому

      Ah well that would be why. Not going to get far with it slipping bad. That’s a pretty rare failure compared to it being stuck on so my bad for the assumption. Best of luck on your adventure I also have an old school Honda 350 but it’s just and xr350r
