I’ve been researching midi pedals and boards so much lately. They seemed overly complicated but sir, you explained it so well and simply that i think this is the best video. I have never seen a video of yours but you immediately have a new subscriber and fan. Best of luck!

I’ve been trying to get my other guitarist on board with MIDI for a year now. I still have a lot of analog pedals but I mainly use the Hx stomp for most of my Fxs. Going to send this video to him. Also new ish subscriber and I love your channel. 🤘🏻

My man Buddy is now one step closer to selling all his pedals and having a Line6 HX Stomp as the main rig! hahaha

Love the mc6 pro. I use it not only to control my guitar patches, but also my keyboard patches, my bandmates guitar patches, tablet notes, turn on and off the mixer talk back mic, and also to change the lights. It's soo powerful!

Getting the MC6 Pro tomorrow. My new pedalboard project is a stereo board with looper RC500. Like your energy. The MC6Pro seems very powerful for how compact it is. I'm on the fence on getting the MLX10, Morningstar's pedal switcher. If some people don't know, the Optomist is MIDI so no switcher needed!

MIDI can also be an absolute lifesaver for those who use pedals AND a channel-switching amplifier. You have full control of both!

    • @BuddyBlues
      @BuddyBlues  6 місяців тому +2

YES! I forgot to mention that in the video! I remember my marshal DSL40 had midi switchable channels! So with one click you can turn on an pedal overdrive, delay, and switch channels on your amp with one click

Amp doesnt even have to be midi switchable. MC6 has relay switching built into it

Wow man that’s freaking amazing the more I hear this pedals with this type of platform.the more I want to get away from the line 6 stomp. is there a way of saving those presets for different types of guitars . Strat and vs Dgt can you save the two channels

You gotta get the Bloom set up with MIDI. You can turn it off/on, engage the boost and/or EQ and select your compressor type. Dead simple MIDI commands. I've not tried this yet, but with the MS built in MIDI oscillators/waveforms, you should be able to coax an analog tremolo out of the Bloom V2. You should also check out the MS ML-5 for your non-MIDI pedals....c'mon....you've broken the seal and dipped your toe into the dark side...time to go full hog.
I do have a suggestion for you. I have the MS MC8, and the first thing I did was to create a dedicated banks for all of my MIDI/remote-switch-MIDI-controlled devices (choose banks towards the end) and use those banks to explore what you can do with MIDI with each effect. For example, you should set up a PC counter for each of the effects that can take a Program Change and set a PC UP/PC DOWN message buttons...for checking out different sound combos.
Lastly, I'm not sure if your break down of PC vs CC is 100%. A PC (Program Change) is a preset (for those devices that have presets). CC's (Control Changes) are both "footswitches" and "knob control". In the MS editor list, PC's are generally the first commands to send, followed by CC's as the messages are sent in order on the command list (a minor thing, but can screw yourself if you do not adhere to this system).
Lastly lastly...if you are passing MIDI via a "thru port" for more than two units, it is advantageous to either: use the various outputs of the MS MIDI controller to make a one-to-one connection OR get a MIDI splitter. Using a MIDI thru will introduce latency...the more "thru's" you use, the slower the messages.

    • @BuddyBlues

@@BuddyBlues, thanks for the reply. My plan is to buy the biggest pedals you show and make a pedalboard that can only be used in the trunk of my car! :D

    I’m using a simple switcher, but I’ve considered a GigRig G3 Atom . . . Is that a mid-way point to MIDI?

    • @BuddyBlues

I’m not 100% familiar with gigrig stuff but last I heard was that they are all midi with the exception of the quartermaster? I think

Ha! It’s one of those really daunting things on paper, but once you get the hang of it it becomes second nature. Most of it is just copy and paste
