Never asked for snacks, but have been offered food by camp neighbors at various occasions. Fish tacos by a fisherman near Maupin, burgers by an older gentlemen from Eugene near Fossil, pancake breakfast by a friendly arborist near Umatilla, and sausages by a mountain biker near the McKenzie River.
With your inspiration, I "got out and did the thing"! Rode 250 miles to visit my brother for a few days, on my way home found a state park with curvy roads (rode that section 3 times). This is my longest trip so far, first time packing saddlebags and using a headset. More learning to come - my phone battery died, GPS did not avoid traffic, and my seat needs more cushion. It was fun! Ready for my next adventure...
Thanks for another great video. Never asked for snacks but when a fellow camper saw me eating an MRE he offered me some chicken from his RV's grill.(BTW, small matter but I really like the typography on the new location stamps on the bottom left.)
Have I ever asked for a snack from a stranger before? Yes, but not as an adult. When my older brother and I were kids we would look through the window of the Pepsi-Cola bottling plant located in North Lewiston and watch all that “Pop” being put into cases. We’d tap on the window and sometimes the worker there would give us each a bottle of Pepsi. Good times back then.
Great views. Cannot wait to see the snow sections. I have arrive sat the summit of more than one mountains hiking, and while I never asked for food, I certainly took offered snacks!
Another fun video. Awesome. I was thinking about your use of those Hippo Hands while I was riding down Hwy 101 / CA-1 from Gold Beach, OR to Eureka, CA the other day. They would have been nice to have.
Amanda: I just ordered two BDR maps thanks to your (this) video. I bought the New England and Mid Atlantic maps. I am back from the 9,600 mile ride I planned with my brother and am ready to do some back country trail riding here in New England. I always enjoy your videos especially when they include Idaho, Montana and Oregon. Ride safe….
Great story Amanda, It is always nice to see your travels and hear the stories of your adventures. Easy one for me here on the End Screen Crew question .... wait for it .... No I have never asked a stranger for a snack. But I have talked a few ears off.... In other news RMR6 is nearly here. I have been packing/unpacking and reorganizing the trunk and bags on the GoldWing for about a week.... I am finally satisfied that I have enough gear to make this trip. Honestly though there are a few more items still in transit. I should be finished with waiting for orders to arrive by the 23rd ish of July. Today (07/17/2021) I am going on a group ride, making a Mt Hood loop. I am taking the scooter almost fully loaded the same as when I will leave for Montana. I think less the clothing and toiletries but camping gear cooking gear, tarps, ropey stuff etc. is all loaded so I can see how this old girl handles loaded. See you in a couple weeks I am so excited to go....... ("Do the Thing")
You definitely took in some amazing scenery. Riding across those waste lands with nothing often ends in a place with epic views that will take your breath away. Ride safe and God Bless.
Good job! Now you have me second guessing myself for a July 1st start from Glenns Ferry. I'm traveling from NC to start. After the IDBDR, on to the Arctic Ocean.
Awesome. I just got home tonight from doing it north to south. Well this time I bailed at the cut off just north of Lowman. Then rode back up to my car back at the top. Very little detours if heading south....for 🔥 🔥. They closed Grandad for northbound traffic, so some of the guys I met along the route were not getting to My Blue Heaven. As thats a must for me. No visitors for 24 hrs. Yeah 1st section sucks specially last yr...6 inches of fresh gravel laid 1 week before I got there. Id say best is Clark Fork to Lowman. Any and all in between. Hooked on Idaho, thinking of moving there. Great video as usual.
Loved this story telling video! The old western music in the beginning ❤️❤️ End Screen Question: No, but I’ve been asked if I wanted tea or food by RV campers, especially on the big XC trip 5 years ago
What a beautiful ride! Even the vast empty has a certain beauty. Personally I have never ask a stranger for snacks. I have always tried to be the one that has what is needed to help others while taking care of myself. Leads to over packing mostly, but like the Boy Scouts, I am prepared! I like the camera clamp. I have seen them advertised. Already looking forward to the next episode! Safe travels young lady!
I don't normally accost strangers in the name of snacks but seeing a Jelly Belly trailer would change my mind quick, fast and in a hurry. Not even kidding.
I’ve been running 804/805 for 10,000miles I absolutely love them. Hopefully we can find time soon i really wanna do my first BDR! I live in Kentucky so the MABDR is where I’m headed as soon as I get some free time!!! Love the content, the shared knowledge, and honesty it gives me more courage to do things like this! You rock!
Love your story telling. You have a gift. Okay.... Headed out in exactly one week to start making our way towards the ranch. So looking forward this trip and to meeting you in person. See you at the Ranch!
Actually, I can’t recall ever asking a stranger for a snack! I’ve been offered food, drinks, etc… when camping while on rides across the country by locals and other riders. That sunset in your closing shot was absolutely amazing! The Idaho route is very nice. Ride safe and thanks for sharing your adventure!
I will say that the road into Jarbidge itself is worth the ride down from Twin Falls (given I was coming from Utah.) There's a great campground at the intersection before you climbing back up out of the canyon. And honestly, I just loved Jarbidge. I'm glad you made it down there. And, there is something to be said for the 60 MPH dirt roads as a warmup. But, yeah... And we did the ride in mid-July and Trinity was still closed then. AND the water was high on the big water crossing, forcing us to turn around. Nice that you were warned in advance. Still, the ride to and from that crossing was pretty amazing. And no, not from a stranger. :)
Great to see you having fun on your journeys. Some beautiful countryside and I can't wait to explore it myself! Oh, and I've never asked a stranger for snacks 😂
Great video. I've seen a couple of your cross country vids awhile back. A pal and I are planning the IDBDR in Sept this year. Hope the fires and high temps go down by then. Keep up the great videos!
I love the DR650, but riding that kind of mileage within that short of a time frame can be brutal. My hats is off to you ladies for killing it! BTW, I've been using the DJI and I'm about to buy a second one. I love the quality of the footage and they're so much cheaper than the Hero Cam.
It’s a little like those tens and hundreds of miles out in the middle of Nevada, which I can attest are brutal in July/August (and even September/October). I still don’t own an adventure bike (working on it - for now I baby the Bonneville T-120 on the few smoother dirt roads I’ll take it on), so my ride down through Idaho from Glacier NP late in the summer won’t be able to get those super scenic dirt road places in Idaho, but thanks for documenting b/c those will definitely be on the list for future trips!
Also love the lighting idea - I plan on taking my tripods along for nature/stellar photography and having them double as stands for lighting at night didn’t occur to me.
Now that you've had it a while, are you still happy with the action camera clamp mount? I just picked up a DanGo, which I assume is what that is. So far so good. I wish the pyramids were a bit less sharp on the plastic side since I worry about it damaging the interior of my Shoei, but so far so good. Very handy to be able to pop it on and off, clip it elsewhere...
What do you use to do your maps? I love the way they look. I have not been to the Idaho BDR (yet), its on the list! I have never asked for snacks from a stranger, but for Jelly Belly I might have made an exception.
Jar bidge not jarbridge. It's my stomping grounds there is so much to see up there. Stumbled on your channel a day or so ago researching bikes. Fuel prices like they are I might just sell my jeep. Anyway I was kicking around a 650 strom for my wife and have since seen some of your adventures on the cb500x I might lean that direction. We couldn't decide on road bikes or adv bikes until yesterday when I discovered BDR. 1 question what kind of cruising speed can you realistically run on the freeway/highway? Keep up the great work. Back to binge watching.
Google Jarbidge shovel brigade. Alot of history with that town. At the end of summer everyone gets together to drink all the booze left before heading out for winter.
I did this from North to South with 2 friends, a father and son. They rode 1976 Bultaco motorcycles. Chilly White, the son, wrote up the story, "Drums Along the Salmon". This referred to the drum brakes on their old mounts, and the Salmon River. He submitted the story to the American Motorcyclist magazine where it was featured. This particular BDR is extremely scenic. Loved your video.
Great video, as usual. I've seen ads for the OnXOffroad app; thanks for providing a linky-link. Also, I've heard good things about the Osmo cameras; I'll have to check them out. Not entirely happy with my GoPro. BTW, no end crew notes? :-(
My apology, @@AstheMagpieFlies; don't know how I missed that, but I did. My bad. And, no, I have never asked for snacks from a stranger, but I gave a granola bar to a guy holding a sign along the freeway offramp; does that count? :-)
looked quite amazing, that primitive campsite was one of the most beautiful sites I've seen. Do you find that the DJI cameras are less glitchy than gopros? We have the hardest time with gopros. Always freeze, we lose shots from it unable to repair files and lastly my hero 9 shuts off at about 20% battery usage and if I'm mid video when it happens I lose the shot. It was also super cool to see you out doing the thing with another female rider, those roads look brutal and I'm thoroughly impressed.
OK young lady because of you, WE are doing Overland Expo West as well as Mountain West. The only difference is Lisa is not ready to ride long distances after breaking her fibula in April so we will be driving my new Ford F-150 XLT and bringing our new Gazelle T8 hotel. We will be the sherpa vehicle for some of the riders that may be going with us. We are working on getting it "Overland" ready so what better place to go than Overland Expo. Maybe I'll see if Cynthia will go as well. I did talk her into the BMW rally in Great Falls. Let me just say, you two are badass, doing the ID BDR. See you in Flagstaff!
LOL! You mock Tara's inquiry BUT she returns laden with Jelly Belly beans @6:54 hahahaha SCORE!...and Tara's over here stripping in front of everyone. I think we've found our new dynamic duo. heh.
I continue to live vicariously through you :)
Best line "my soul is fed". Describes me perfectly every time I get on my bike.
Couldn't agree more about supporting the small towns. The people are gems that maintain these small businesses

Hey Amanda, finally getting a chance to watch this series of yours. Keep doing the thing, Trikezilla
Cool video Amanda. Glad you ladies enjoyed it. Trees are always great to see after a long flat stretch.
Since you did the first section you are one step ahead of everyone that skips it!
This brought back good childhood memories of Mt. Rainer and Spokane. Thank you for sharing the clip of your Grandma’s memories. So cool! 😊
Great video .... you tree hugging adventure!!! 😁😁 Looking forward to the rest of the journey. Continued safe travels.
I just got the camera you use through your link. thank you for sharing your videos and what you use for your videos.

You find some amazing routes to travel on. Stay safe out there.
Woohoo DR650! That is beautiful country. I've never asked for snacks from a stranger before, but I'd probably ask if they were Jelly Bellies!
Stunning views and scenery!
This looks like a lot of fun! Im gonna have to do something like this sometime:). Great video too!
PS, love the little air pump. I picked one up.
I'm really enjoying this series, Amanda! great stuff as usual. Keep it up!!! :-)
Good Vid! Love seeing you Girls riding! And Tara- your last name sounds familiar... LOL
Great episode!
Always great to see your videos Amanda, such a happy little camper.....
When is the Movie coming out ?...
😀@3:48...Hmmm...yes that is what she said. Really nice video.
Just found this. Great video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

I would definitely try to score some jelly beans!
No mom said not to take candy from strangers. But I do want some jellybeans now
That was awesome! 😁 And no (snacks), but I have asked for water 😊✌️
Halloween, but that's it :D

i love my 1200rt bmw for long rides but I always wish a could afford an adventure bike when I see some of the places you ride.

Haha to be totally fair, I 100% would have also asked for Jelly Beans.
Snacks from a stranger? Sounds like Halloween when I was a kid. lol
Amanda, great video. I am planning on doing the IDBDR this August. I was wondering if you e805 did the job. That is what I run on my klr650. Thanks
Look great. I want to do something this one day.
