    17:06 What a disaster. After all that work and time. Nice work recovering it with the weld, and using that gauge was super sharp. I'm looking forward to this series and seeing you fabricate everything from scratch. Are you going to pour and cast a block, or are you going to mill it out of a solid chunk? Oh and... HAPPY FRIKKIN NEW YEAR TO THE BEST VIDEOGAME (and practical engineering) CHANNEL IN THE HISTORY OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION!

  • @OutrideMaro
    @OutrideMaro Місяць тому +2

    YES, now this is what I'm talking about. I've been subscribed to your channel since you built that aquarium SNES but honestly I've kindof lost interest in retro computing/gaming since, and actually been really into cars. Funnily enough you're now the second channel who's started making car related content after being more focused on other stuff.
    Also not that it really matters but I just woke up so I'm not fully conscious yet and for some reason I was convinced you were building an Inline 4 engine until I got to 7:00 (Not that it matters cause simply building any engine in the first place is fucking awesome)
    But yeah I'll definitely be keeping up with your project and looking forward for future uploads. I'm also glad that you don't spend months editing these as well cause some other youtubers I watch talk about how they spend more time editing than actually working on the project which pisses me off cause I'm impatient.
    Edit: oh also if you've read this far you planning on making a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke engine? Also also you planning on building the piston yourself? That'd be on hell of a fucking task.

    I really enjoyed this and it takes me back to the years I spent making stuff on a Colchester lathes triumph 2000. I moaned constantly about the dirt, cuts, cold, dust and trips to the hospital to remove pieces of metal from the eyes but looking back, it was the best job I ever had. A real good laugh and it's very satisfying making something too.
    Genius use of the angle grind at the start. I thought, " here we go, an hours worth of hacksawing" 😂.
    Hope you get it finished before the shed burns down 😉
    What's the run out of each end of the shaft relative to each other?

    Jesse's going Allen Millyard in 2025, I like it. Who says the best video game channel with a 4K face can't become an engine and machining channel...reminds me that when I get home I have an LQ4 6L iron block to build for my '04 GTO T-56 car...once I get a dial bore indicator and test the consistency of the bores, I can make my decision about having it machined over or not, then test the decks on the two sets of heads I have and decide if I want to have them milled or order a set of remanned heads from ebay. Once I figure that out I will either buy some 4" flat top replacement pistons, gen IV rods and donwhat I can to balance them up with the stock crank. Otherwise the temptation to get some forged 4.030" pistons and 6.1" or 6 125" forged rods and maybe even a 4" crank or an entire 408 stroker kit will cross my mind then the snowballing will begin...it would probably just be best to stick with a 364-370ci with rectangle port 821/832 heads, LS3 intake, 90mm tb, the 1.75" long tubes already in the car and if I don't re-use the Elgin 228/230 .585/.585 112 cam I already have, I will go with something much more stout, with flycuts or valve relifs in the pistons, I can either make sure the pistons are zero decked or use a set of 0.027" Cometic MLS headgaskets I already have and shoot for 11.0-11.6:1 compression, new LS7 lifters, trays, Melling oil pump, head bolts and a Howards 0.650" lift valve spring kit. It's best to keep 364-370ci and recports to to keep the torque down a little at lower rpms so my T-56 and stock IRS rear has a chance of living and I should still be able ti hit 550-600hp depending on the cam, usually a 6.0 like that hits 450-500whp. Thankfully I dont have emissions of inspection in TN so I am golden, I could run a single plane and a carb if I felt like it or turbo a 4.8/5.3 with Holley Terminator X. I really don't need more than 500whp, it's never going to be a racecar, I just want it to be fun, usable, street car, that is roomy, comfortable and very stealthy looking.
