I don’t need EVERY line of narration to have the origin voices-that’d be an obscene amount of lines to record, and Amelia Tyler’s fantastic, anyway. But I’d like the important moments to be voiced by them, at least. Let origin Shadowheart voice her own conflict when she meets the Nightsong. Let origin Astarion actually have some thoughts about the situation when he meets Araj. Let whichever Durge voice you chose narrate the thoughts that come from the Urge. I just think that would be a good middle ground.
I don't think it's possible now, so many voicelines to record. So much money spent without any things ng back for them. Everything Amelia says but with all origins? Madness

Wait, what! You actually CUT and EDITED this? I was 100% sure it was Astarion's voice actor just having a great time. O.O Beyond amazing work, per usual, Chubblot!
I did kinda yeah, I had to find the lines and sometimes chop them up to make them fit. Sometimes you can tell it doesn't really fit. But thank you Beatrice! Glad you enjoyed it.
So sad they removed this! Playing an Origin run adds some neat interactions from time to time, but for the most part, it feels like you're playing without that character. Having them narrate everything would have added so much to the experience.
I encourage everyone who wants this to send feedback to Larian about it. If enough people send feedback asking for it, it might be something they can bring back as an option later.

This is a great way to give the origin characters some flavour even when you're playing as them.

I need help. Sorry for the rant, thank you for reading. None of my friends are into BG3, so I can't talk about it. I love this game. Peace!
I don't know why but I have a feeling that they will add these first person narrations as a dlc after games full release. Those are too good to be passed. And thank you for your hard work Chubby, as usual
I can see why this was cut. It feels like an exposition dump this way and creates a disconnect between player and the character. As much as I like astarion, mama malady is more suited to narration. Edit: I should mention that I'm still very greatful to be able to see this. Thank you.
Nope, hate there is no origin character in game. Finished the game as Astarion and he is Tav with pointy teeth. No personality, you just lose a great voice and actor. Absolute waste of time playing as origin now.
Is it just me or is Astarion really pretty different when he's the player character and narates? It not only feels more personal but his expressions and sometimes voice are softer. That said, if I have to choose, I would choose Amelia Aš our dungeon master.
When he's talking to the pc I feel like he's got his guard up, even later on at higher approval levels. Everything he says is almost like a performance, to protect what he's really thinking/feeling. When he's narrating, it's his innermost thoughts and feelings, raw and unedited, so it makes sense they'd be delivered differently by va Neil Newbon
certainly interesting but I would be lying if i said i wouldn't miss the Narrators voice far more,Amelia Tyler's smokey and almost seductive voice is just too good to pass up and the self narration kinda takes away from the feeling of hearing a DM describe what's going on like i think they're going for
Whaaaat ? Origin characters voice their narration lines ? Jesus this game is already so insanely good. It makes playing origin characters soooo juicy now! Edit: just saw "seemingly cut". That would make sense. I really hope it's the opposite and they will just introduce it later on when it's ready. It would be so good.
That's correct. When datamining patch 1, there was so much text devoted to Eldath instead of Silvanus. Silvanus is a better choice imo, and far more known in the Realms!
Yeah, there are quite a few pre-release changes. Like the harpy kid being a halfling that Ethel sends you to find. And the chapel where you find Skelebro being dedicated to someone completely different.
Menzoberranzan? I would *not* want to go there lmao. Though I guess being killed by various creatures lurking in the underdark would be one way to solve the tadpole issue. Love the vid btw :D Can never have enough of Astarion!
I like to imagine all the Origin characters VAs and Amelia Tyler recorded all these at the same time, bouncing tips about tone and inflection about the same line off of each other.
OMG! It was so awesome 😭 Why did they remove it??? It adds so much to the game. I love Baldur's Gate 3 so much. I regret stumbling across this video because I now know that it could be better 😭
Just imagine, the entire amount of voice line from the narrator, sometimes re-written for the personal cases of each character, and then multiply by 8 (for each companion). It's an gigantic amount of work, and God damn expensive. I don't doubt that Larian wanted to do it. They wanted it enough to record the much you see in the video.
@@strrb8578 I totally understand that there would be an enormous amount of lines. Gosh, I would even pay for this if there was such a DLC. The playthroughs feel unique enough already, but this... It's just something else.
Vocal minority hated it. This was Swen's original vision and we need to send feedback to Larian demanding it back. If enough people tell them this is something we want, we can get it back.
@@strrb8578 Act 1 was completely recorded for all of the Origins and some of the Tavs, nearly 10,000 voice lines were recorded and not used. It wasn't cut for cost, this was Swen's original vision, it was cut because a vocal minority hated it and Larian listed to the wrong section of the fan base. Send feedback demanding it back because the game would be better like this.
Larian trying to make me choose between Neil and Amelia is cruel! Lol. Amelia's narrator voice is perfect, but I love my boi Astarion. Neil is incredible in the role. Thanks for your hard working creating this video. What mods are you using? Astarion's top looks awesome.
We need to all send feedback to Larian to add these back in. This was the original plan and I really wish Swen stuck to his guns as this is WAY Better. All 6 origins and all 8 Tavs were supposed to have this in-character narration and it was only removed because a vocal minority hated it. We all just have to demand it to be brought back.
@@auroraarchangel369 Yeah, I really wish they didn't remove them and would love to see them add it back in as an option who prefers in-character narrations over 3rd person narrations by a disembodied voice.
I like the self-narration style better, it's more engaging IMO. I just have a distaste for Astarion's demeanor so I can see why people weren't fond of a Astarion narration in particular. Thanks for putting this together.
this was apparently the original vision for the game, each character origin character narrating the game if you chose to play as them instead of the blank slate character, but at this point no, playing the origin characters just adds some extra dialogue options, for the most part. There's some unique content for each one but most of the game plays exactly as if you were playing a custom character, except you now have one less companion. My understanding is that people in early access didn't like the game like this so they scrapped it.
Not in the live release, if you want to see this return as an option send feedback to Larian about it. There might eventually be a definitive edition so it's something to be vocal about if you would like to see it return.
Well well what have we here.. channeling Morrigan I see :D That being said, I genuinely hope this is not part of the game, I already feel like the game is pressuring us to play as one of the original characters instead of our own created pc and I really do not like that, especially in roleplaying game as epic as BG.
You feel pressured by a game to play a certain character? When the same game gives you the opportunity to not play those characters? Makes no sense. If you give other people options it doesn't take anything away for you. They do have custom MC implemented, so no one is taking this from you
@@dominika3762 Its not taking away options, its just making one clearly superior way to experience the story, which is the same thing as making a decision for many people. Consider this, there is locked content behind playing characters other than the one you want to create, however origin characters, have access to everything that a created one has. I want to see all the game has to offer, but I want to play as my character, that is now sadly impossible. I dont want to be told who to play as to see as much of the game as I can, I want to be able to create a character and be given all the neccessary tools to make the game fun for me, like its normally done with dnd titles. Moreover, this isnt a Divinity game, this is a Baldurs Gate game, nobody was expecting nor asking for origin characters, or predetermined characters, thats not how these games are made or played, fans of DnD and Baldurs Gate want as much freedom and reactivity for pc characters as the game can offer. And thats not even getting into the fact of how many resources the origin characters being playable is taking, all the voice acting must be costing a fortune and it will innevitably come at the expence of something, long development time being the best of options here. Bottom line, Origin characters being more then party members and companions is simply unneeded and it has created issues within the fandom for Larian. Its their creation they put within an already established franchise, its up to them to make it feel seemless and like a good adition, at the moment thats not the case for many.
@@KaiSaeren if this way is superior (for you at least? That's what you said) then why being irritated that they might want to give you both a superior and inferior? Buddy, that's some masochism problems :D
@@KaiSaeren well, damn them to hell those that do not like this. They can go and play Pillars or Pathfinder. This nostalgia, wanting a game to be "worse" is maddening. Just because something is called something doesn't mean it has to have it's predecessors flaws. I disliked new Torment tides of numenera but I would never dream of being salty that they called the game Torment. BG3 is just that: third part of something vaguely connected to the story. And that's ok.
I'm happy Astarion doesn't talk like that in the full release version of the game... His narration isn't great. I was expecting him to be wonderful and witty and seductive, like he is in the full release version, but he's not. He's bland and dull. What a disappointment... However, I would still love to do a run where there is more Astarion and more Astarion voice lines. I have a feeling I'll be watching this video more than once lol
to be fair, the witty/seductive voice we see in the game is mostly a performance meant for everyone around him, which is a big part of his story, while he doesn't have any reason to do a performance if these are his own thoughts to himself. but yeah it does show how his voice actor grew into the character over time
Yeah, why would he be seductive if these are his thoughts? His personality is an act. I actually like that duality, THAT would be a difference between Tav playthrough and origin playthrough. Which now is barely noticeable. There is still the sense of wonder, fear and anger sometimes. So this would be more his real self.
@@dominika3762 I'm glad they removed this. His narration was quite bland. And no, if you are an actual funny and witty person you don't suddenly become boring and uninterested when you're by yourself.
@@yuuya2111 i don't think it was bland. It seemed to me as if we had a real him - narrator - and a flamboyant over the top personality. Maybe we could have seen a duality
I don't see the point on playing an origin character if they don't have these lines. They have amazing personalities dulled down by the mute protagonist syndrome. Thanks reddit, brandead idiots ruined something that could have been a masterpiece.

To conclude, I love playing Origins. I hate playing Origins. Playing Origins could be so much better. It could be a little better with minimal effort already. The only reason I am playing origins is because 1) I love all the extra PC lines they get, which they lack in normal playthrough; and 2) I cannot for the life of me make the fucking decision between romancing Astarion and Gale now.
Love the Mod for the outfits, makes them really pop!
That said, if I have to choose, I would choose Amelia Aš our dungeon master.
hes more emotionally available
When he's talking to the pc I feel like he's got his guard up, even later on at higher approval levels. Everything he says is almost like a performance, to protect what he's really thinking/feeling. When he's narrating, it's his innermost thoughts and feelings, raw and unedited, so it makes sense they'd be delivered differently by va Neil Newbon
if he won't say effervescent at some point
certainly interesting but I would be lying if i said i wouldn't miss the Narrators voice far more,Amelia Tyler's smokey and almost seductive voice is just too good to pass up and the self narration kinda takes away from the feeling of hearing a DM describe what's going on like i think they're going for
Thanks Chubblot! This is amazing! Interesting how it was Eldath and not Silvanus in his narration
Wow! How did I stumble across this jewel??
Incredible!!❤❤❤❤
Holy shit Chubblot, this must have taken ages! So cool! And thank you!
You're very welcome Munmomuu! It was a bit of a task.
DLC now. take my money
Oh, hello new favorite ASMR video
This was a treat as usual. Thank you chubblot!
@@cryophoinix I agree, I'd get that DLC too hahaha. Maybe that's something they may do in the future, who knows !
These should be restored with mods.
Astarion 😍😍 thank you for this awesome video Chubblot!
26:15- HE'S SO CUTE!
I guess Gale really does taste awful.
You just made an awful day great! Thank you, I can't imagine how much time and effort went into this.
Glad to hear it helped!
Aww yiss! Thank you for this gift, kind sir!
You're very welcome! I sat on it for long enough, Astarion day seemed like the perfect time to post it.
Wow this is effort, I adore this lol
Lol if only you had waited for the full release to do this it would be 5-10 hours or smth
this is exactly what i need
What can I say? YESSSSS!
THE FOOT SUCKING SCENE??????!?
NEVERWINTER!!!
Mod to put these back in game when?
Yes pleaseee
The good stuff :)
Thanks, Chubblot
Larian trying to make me choose between Neil and Amelia is cruel! Lol. Amelia's narrator voice is perfect, but I love my boi Astarion. Neil is incredible in the role. Thanks for your hard working creating this video. What mods are you using? Astarion's top looks awesome.
Astarion's voice to me sounds like Stewie Griffin as an adult
Omg i 100% prefer this to the other narrator 😭
mod to add this in the game like ASAP????
We need to all send feedback to Larian to add these back in. This was the original plan and I really wish Swen stuck to his guns as this is WAY Better. All 6 origins and all 8 Tavs were supposed to have this in-character narration and it was only removed because a vocal minority hated it. We all just have to demand it to be brought back.
i will send a feedback right now cause why would they be so stupid to even consider removing this @@MistyKathrine
@@auroraarchangel369 Yeah, I really wish they didn't remove them and would love to see them add it back in as an option who prefers in-character narrations over 3rd person narrations by a disembodied voice.
Thank You!
I like the self-narration style better, it's more engaging IMO. I just have a distaste for Astarion's demeanor so I can see why people weren't fond of a Astarion narration in particular.
Thanks for putting this together.
I'm def. on team first person. I think the hang up was less the first person nature of it and more the fact it's all in past tense.
Fabulous.
Oh, wow. I haven't played the game yet, but it's this narration available in the current iteration? Or was this only early content?
this was apparently the original vision for the game, each character origin character narrating the game if you chose to play as them instead of the blank slate character, but at this point no, playing the origin characters just adds some extra dialogue options, for the most part.
Only Karlach origin run has any of this character narration left. It's been cut from everyone else.
@@itamiozanare 😭
I kinde get why they got rid of them, good chioce
Chubblot, do you think we can change the narrator voice ingame?
@@yuuya2111 That's just his persona. He's actually a lot more stern if he's not in performance mode
I don't see the point on playing an origin character if they don't have these lines. They have amazing personalities dulled down by the mute protagonist syndrome. Thanks reddit, brandead idiots ruined something that could have been a masterpiece.
