    Thank you for the shout out I appreciate it. You know how I feel about these games especially GG Aleste 3. Very excited to see what they do next with the Aleste property. Glad you did a review of this collection too as the more people talking about it the better.

      No problem. That Compile history was so good. I felt like I was watching an actual TV documentary!

    Mine took nearly a month to clear customs, but it was worth the wait. I love the series so I was excited to see it get a ShotTriggers release, but that faded a bit when I saw none of the 16-bit titles were included. Though Power Strike II was a happy surprise, it only saw release in Europe and Brazil so us North Americans never even knew about it. Getting the collection in my hands, these games are wonderful on the Switch in handheld mode, the only console that can do them justice these days. For me GG Aleste 2 & 3 are the stars of the show, they play so well. GG Aleste 2 to me feels like it might be the best STG from the 8-bit era (though I've never had a chance to play Gun Nac). GGA3 is a great and very welcome addition that I think people are going to be talking about for a long time.

      Yeah, I know. Bummer. I'll get this somehow. Important thing is that I at least know about it. How do I go about getting it? Well, that's another matter altogether. I used the gift card to shave off some of the price of the Darius II Cozmic Collection so it all worked out in the end.

      @@matthewlister3755 You need to create a japan account on your Switch , it's the same like yours but just choice "japanese" in language.
      After that , you must buy Eshop code japanese , enter the code with your japanese account on Eshop , and download the game. You can play the game with all yours profiles after.

    Nice, concise review!
    I'd also like to point out that M2 has developed some original games before, in the form of the Castlevania, Gradius and Contra Rebirth titles on the Wii! They all had similar levels of attention to detail as GG Aleste 3.

    • @ShmupsOnSwitch
      @ShmupsOnSwitch  3 роки тому +3

      Oh really? I didn't know that. Nice to hear that they were all similar quality to GG Aleste 3, though - gives me even more hope in their future. Thanks for letting us know!

      They also have a history of developing new games to the specifications of old SEGA hardware. Fantasy Zone II W was first released for the PS2 (and later 3DS). M2 developed it using the limitation of SEGA’s old System-16 arcade hardware.
      M2 are the best!

    Beautiful collection. I recently entered in this genre and I have to say that is one of the best things that one can do on the Switch. Now I'm waiting for Cotton Reboot. Good video.

    M2 aren't alien to making original games - having made a new one back in 2008 for a RAM-upgraded Sega-16 arcade board, Fantasy Zone II DX, which was arguably the special event on the Ages 2500 PS2 Complete Fantasy Zone Collection. M2 later upgraded / remade it for the 3D Fantasy Zone II W release on 3DS. They also announced a couple of other completely original shooters a few years ago which were since put on hiatus due other projects taking priority.

    M2 also made Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth ("Remake" from the gameboy version,) but it has almost nothing in common.

    Thanks for your review, partly bought it because of that! I saw you recorded your gameplay of Power Strike II without the M2 gadgets. Did you also have problems with the screen options? For me, the options with the gadgets only include a very small playing area or an incorrectly stretched one, although there would be enough space to zoom preserving the aspect ratio. I really don't understand that. I saw gameplay on youtube from others and they seemed to get a nice aspect ratio and playing area with the M2 gadgets.

    $80 to import is too expensive because the only game I'm interested in is the newest one. Instead, I used that money to order Ginga Force and Natsuki Chronicles for PS4.

    • @ShmupsOnSwitch
      @ShmupsOnSwitch  3 роки тому

      Fair enough. It would be pricey if you're not interested in the older titles.
      Enjoy Ginga Force and Natsuki Chronicles - I haven't played them but Eschatos is a fabulous game. I hope they'll come to Switch one day - especially with those physical editions.

      @@abc2390986 I would prefer a physical disc. Also, it's a little inconvenient to buy it from the Japanese store because you need to create a Japanese account and have to buy Japanese credit. If it comes to the US at a discount price, then I will definitely consider it. I think $40 for a digital copy is a fair price, at least for me.

    Unpopular opinion here, but I find these graphics too "ugly" to see past them. Even if the gameplay underneath is solid...
