I was lucky and found this at a thrift shop for $25. It's in perfect working order and came with two kit lenses. I'm going to spend at least a year learning the basics with this camera while I save up for a newer DSLR. So far I am very happy with it!

I was high school year book editor and my parents bought me this camera in 2003. It set my passion for photography off! It’s just a hobby for me but it’s always something I love thanks to this camera. Even pulled this thing out today. ❤️

I received 2 of these in a trade for an older MacPro over the summer. No battery or CF card
I picked up a couple batteries and 4gb CF cards and a second charger (all on ebay, not to expensive.)
Both cameras worked with no issues.
My first DSLR was a Nikon D50 (refurb) which would have been a lower model camera than the Rebel, but about the same specs.
I really like the ease of use of the Rebel. I had been looking for a little longer lens like an 18-105. I tested it with my Aliensbees and norman lights. The pictures were very nice for the file size. Very crisp!
I ended up giving one away and sold the second one this morning.
My primary camera is a Nikon D750.
    Thanks for the review.

I just bought one on eBay. The camera and lens for less than $100. Now to figure out how to use it. This is where your video comes in. It has been VERY helpful to find out the background and basics of the camera. I have had good results from Canon for many years. I thought to get into the digital SLR with this model as its price is affordable. Thanks for the video. i will subscribe and look forward to more videos from you!

I still have mine, and according to Google Photos, I have taken 12,000 photos using it. I stopped using it (regularly) a few years ago, but would love to start using it again! Time to find new batteries for it!

Following a 15 year break which followed 35 years as a professional photographer, I am getting back into photography. Weight, or lack of it, is a priority now as my back and knees took a real beating carrying around four Canon SLRs and a dozen L series lenses for most of the prior working years. I ordered this camera a couple of days ago, and the Canon XT the following day. The operation is very much like the SLRs I was used to, the feel and wight are good, and this camera lets me do all the things I know how to do.I am looking forward to using both. My first digital camera was the Canon PowerShot G2, (4 megapixel). An image I took with it of a very interesting rock formation with very fine details, using the RAW setting, convinced me that digital recording of images had finally matched the best films.

Good to hear that you're getting back into photography. I've had a couple G2s, they're good cameras though a bit slow by modern standards. Photography isn't all about speed though:)

Thank you! I just picked this camera up at a thrift shop and I have a battery coming in the mail but it's taking a while to arrive. It was nice to see how it works before I have power for it.

I got one from Mercari for $24… the reason why the seller sold it for that price was because the built-in flash doesn't work. That's not an issue with me because if I use flash, I prefer speedlites. I bought this camera to let my assistant learn with without buying a more expensive camera for her to use in case anything happens to it.

  • @Great-Documentaries

You can still download (astonishingly) a hacked firmware for this that was adapted from the high-end 10D (which it shared its CMOS with) to give it many of the same features (including higher shutter speed) as the pro model. Google 10d 300D firmware to find the RAR file from 2004.
And EOS is not pronounced E-O-S.

  • @adokapo

Those old cameras are pretty underrated nowadays because they are lucking video features, but i can imagine that being liberatig for most people. Remember that you can still easy transfer fotos either with eye-fi WiFi card or mini-usb to usb c cable and edit them in your smartphone. Plus they all have OVF that is more or less same as on any other SLR camera. And last but not least this is actually 3k resolution thats gonna look great on your smartphone, TV, computer sceeen and you can print it pretty large as well. I have large 150 inch wallpaper thats shat on 6 mp camera and it looks fantastic. Yes if come close it looks pixelated but those large prints are not suposed to be looked at that close anyway. And yes newer cameras are gonna be sharper and better in many ways but this one is very fun and easy to use and you can get beautiful pictures with it. (Just as with any other SLR really)

I have only recently moved in to digital photography, switching from my film SLR. I have been using a bridge camera, but I recently bought a 300D body specifically to make use of three redundant lenses from my SLR. They are M42 mount lenses but adapters are readily available and they work very well. Being manual, non-electronic lenses they suit AV mode - the shutter speed adjusts to your aperture - and the experience is like using a film camera with the benefit of the image being immediately available. I have not used it a great deal yet, but the lenses are pretty good and so far I have been very pleased with the results. I will probably buy a Canon kit lens in the future so that I can make full use of the camera's capabilities, limited as they no doubt are compared to today's offerings. With regard to those limitations I take solace in the fact that I keep hearing that "it's not the camera which is important, but the person behind it" - that's my excuse for not spending money I haven't got on highly expensive equipment.

You cannot get good photos with any camera. I wish that were true, because my family's albums are full of well-composed Polaroids and other non-35mm prints from the 40s to the 80s that are terrible. Plus the digital photos I took with my Nikon that I had before I got this Canon 300D aren't very good due to the low resolution. So don't say it. It is simply not true. *Yes, it is OFTEN down the hardware and equipment you have. Throw away all you quality gear and use an early digital camera or an old Polaroid if you truly believe that.*

No video. I think this camera came out before digital video cameras. It only takes still photos. From what I’ve heard, the camera itself is very cheap nowadays, especially with a 50mm or 18-55mm lens.

Dude! Sow down! You're swallowing a LOT of words. This is an otherwise very informative video. It's just almost impossible to understand many of the words you're speaking. Slow down. Enunciate. Watch it yourself and listen to yourself. You'll see what I mean.
