Big V8, big cam, big turbo - even in racing games like GTR 2 & Forza 7 I always liked the deep growling sound of the Sauber C9. And it always is challenging to drive because of all that torque. 😁😎🤘
I've heard a lot of drag cars at the local drag strip near me, and some sound just like this beast of a race car, even the turbo drag cars sound like that. I love it.
Michael Schumacher saved Mercedes with this car. Even if I'm not mistaken he had used one of the first ones, these in the video are the latest evolutions of that model. Thanks NM2255 !
Stop this "rubbish" and "dumb" name-calling. All fans around here. So get a grip around here. M31 was piloted by Baldi and M. Schumacher. Fact. The rest is open to discussion, with claims to be validated by facts. Alright?
Honestly: what was wrong with what I said? Or meant to say? The Clip from Spa showed Nr 31 with assigned drivers M. Schumacher and M. Baldi in that car at that day. Meaning that's all I know at the time. You're obviously knowledgeable, full of memories and have been there. That's great. I just wanted to take the "dumb" and "rubbish" out of the conversation and rather take part in a discussion I am interested in. No bad intentions. If I said something inappropriate: sorry. Otherwise we're probably not so different: I like motorsports, I don't like being called dumb without having said dumb things, and I'm quite easy to handle. A simple "go away" makes me leave a discussion. No hurt feelings except 'might've been interesting to learn something new'.
One of the baddest sounding racecars ever. I think the tall gearing really makes it seem like a sleeping beast. Once those gears wind out, hang on! Power delivery is brutal.
It sounds like a typical crossplane V8. Even back in the day, a British commentator said that the Mercedes prototype sounded American. Or was it the CLR, I don't remember exactly. There are multiple V8s in America that sound like the Mercedes.
There are 8 crossplane firing orders, with all of them pioneered by Ford/GM/Chrysler with GM being the first. Only three are commonly used. Then there are only a couple of ways you can change the exhaust setup, which can adjust how smooth or rough it will sound. I have no idea how people think AMG Mercedes sound unique when even experienced racing commentators think they sound like muscle cars. Recently the most unique sounding V8 is from Ford with the Coyote since it uses the Flathead V8 firing order, but even then it depends highly on the exhaust, with the normal Mustang sounding raspy, the Australian Supercar Mustang screaming at high pitch and the GT3 Mustang sounding similar to the Mercedes prototype. With a blind test, you can not tell the difference between the crossplane sound of any manufacturer if they use the same firing order and exhaust.
Spoken like someone who hasn’t heard literally ANY racecar based on a “muscle car.” Don’t get me wrong - I love the C9 / C11… love the simple prototype lines combined with the growl of that engine but it’s not that different from an older prototype with a “muscle car” derived racing engine.
For a Le Mans car I cannot believe this car sounds like a nascar!! It sounds incredible irl!!! Too bad Gran Turismo 4 made this car sound nothing like it's real life counterpart.
every sound fit, if its the original heritage. As a kid i was at some Gr.C races with my Grandpa and these Silver Cars, with that brutal Sound and very Big Mercedes Tag on the front was so brainbranding. My Favorite was the Mercedes and Jägermeister 962
Try positive camber with toe out on the front axle on a RMR car, and you won't want anything else in your life. Throw away all this lightweight aerodynamic crap.
To me the C9 & C11 were best sounding and best looking of the Group C cars! Love the brutal simplicity of the exterior design and beastly engines.
The most Brutal sounding racecar!
Sounds so much like the tamer version of the garage 56 but Grizzlier than Cadillac V. series
@@jidearojo I'm not familiar with those newer race cars
@@Ride2Xplore you should, plenty of fantastic race cars and racing series nowadays.
And Porsche 917? 😏
@@Ride2Xplore listen to their engines and compare my bro
The Saubers are easily in my top 3 best sounding race cars along with the 917 and SLS GT3.
The sheer fury of that engine sound, i love it to pieces!

This engine sounds so good even with the turbos muffling the sound. Amazing! Thanks for posting.
These cars give pure eargasm... 😎
Thats not a car its an engine flying around the track with metal holding it together and wheels to turn nicely
it carbon fibre body i guess but metal frame
Michael Schumacher saved Mercedes with this car. Even if I'm not mistaken he had used one of the first ones, these in the video are the latest evolutions of that model. Thanks NM2255 !
Thats a dumb statement. c9 was already winning before schumi came in c11.

Dude, you have no idea what your talking about! You are embarrassing.
@@jenswetter251 Important words, not! 😂
The C11 is definitely one of my fav cars. It's amazing!!
В GTA Online это тоже мой любимый автомобиль. Я его сделал абсолютно идентичным :)
There isn't any other V8 than can come close to the sound of those cars. My favorite V8 and in one of the most beautiful cars ever.

Wenn ich die Karre sehe und höre stellt es mir alles auf, einfach nur geil.
What a beauty
"Do you want displacement or turbo?" - "YES"
I remember tearing ass with the C9 in the Gran Turismo games 🎮
Omfg 🤢🤮
that turbo whistle
ah the familiar sound of picking the c9 in assetto corsa and turning the turbo to 100%, hitting a wall shortly after
One of the best engine sounds EVER 🔊🎶🎵 LEGENDARY CARS C9 & C11
M119 von HWA und Melcher entwickelt, und Sauber hat dann 2 Lader drauf gesteckt. Akustisch schwer zu toppen❤😅🎉
Best sounding non American V8 EVER by far my favorite European racer
Awesome cars, lovely sound. I really miss hearing the C291. C'mon NM2255, show us some C291 clips.
Just pure brutal awesome sound and performance.
This car bridged the insanity of Can-Am with some more modern design concepts
Fuck the electric or hybrid race cars of today!!! They CAN'T EVER came close to the raw monster feeling of beast like this.
The C9 is gorgeous.
best oldschool V8 sound of all time (maybe along side the Shelby Cobra Daytona)
DOHC, EFI, twin-turbo, direct ignition... there's not really anything old school about this engine.
@@PistonAvatarGuy yeah, thats the wrong wording probably.
Gorgeous design, sublime sound. Love it.
This engine is more than enough to sound even better than a 427 cubic inch V8 in like any muscle car America offers
Lay off whatever you are eating, it is messing your brain.

To each their own preference, but you should listen to a racing Mopar 426 HEMI, or just a tuned-up Ford 289. Your ears will thank you.
My #1 favorite race car of all time !!!!!!!
In case you are wondering the C11 is the one with the bigger tail. C9 was the one with the sort of a GT3 tail
Gees, driving this in the rain must be scary af
0:04 YESSA !!!
That engine sounds positively vicious
Wondering if they used this as a sample for the Hennessey Venom GT sound from NFS 2012.
I have the Exoto 1:18 die-cast replica of the C9 #61 that finished 2nd at Le Mans in '89. Amazing car.
Could you tell me where you've bought it from? I'd like to look into it for myself.
@Kyuzeth Hi. I bought it back roughly 15 years ago directly from the brand's official website. Thanks for asking. 🤝
That fuel pump doing work
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gran Turismo 4🥲🥲
The burnout shows how much negative camber it's running. Only the inside of the tire is leaving a mark.
These c9 have Twin Turbos Big ones on left and right side of engine.
Sounds like NASCAR
Sounds so much like the tamer version of the garage 56 camaro but Grizzlier than Cadillac V. series
Shit I remember when this channel had 75 subscribers 🎉
You could see how scared that 911 at the starting line was.
How the heck did they get a twin turbo V8 to sound like a supercharged nitro burning monster truck?
Moto Bueno
For a Le Mans car I cannot believe this car sounds like a nascar!! It sounds incredible irl!!! Too bad Gran Turismo 4 made this car sound nothing like it's real life counterpart.
This , the Porsche Rsr and the Ferrari 412
Never understood the painted area around a single taillight. Must have been for pit lane identification when running multiple cars
Schumi 🫡
Top speed 430 k
Car sounds great but the big block Chevys of the McLarens and Greenwood Vettes blow it away for sound!
this literally sounds like a NASCAR with a supercharger
I wish Mercedes would come back to Le Mans instead of shiting their pants when they here that name.
Why don't they come up with thier own design rather than copying the R390??
Nissan R390 1997. Sauber C9 1987. Derp 😂
Well, it is not my cup of tea. Every odd second I am asking myself, is it misfiring or cutting out?
Stick to your day job lol
They tuned the car too hard for this display. Can tell the driver is very uncomfortable!
None of you notice the turbochargers, eh? Typical.
Angry
Honestly, could have had a more capable driver in it 🙄
That is Kenny Acheson... In his own car!! 🙄🤨🙆♂️
Looks like a hemi motor
They were merged at a point of time lol Daimler/Chrysler 🤷♂️, I miss the 6.1 hemi engine lol
@@NudaMan That was well after these cars were produced and the gains were all one way, from Daimler to Chrysler.
Personaly i like the v12, v10 or Wanel sound in LeMans.
V8 sounds great but does not fit to this category of cars, imho.
Each to their own but to suggest these cars don't fit is just ignorant of the era.
