I always found this episode a little crazy because you could feel the desperation in the mom, but it was a little off the charts ...Unapproved treatments, etc... it shows that there's a weird balance of morality and doing what it takes in medicine!
I really hated how the mom used any opportunity to rag on dad when her giving her daughter an unproven, unapproved drug was much worse than anything he did.
Sadly common. When something horrible happens, many people find it easier to feel anger instead of sadness. Anger is more appealing because at least you can direct it at somebody. Ideally, somebody you already have a bone to pick with.
There’s a reason the kid was more attached to the dad. Kids don’t lie. The moms career and overprotectiveness caused a disattachment from her kid. That’s seemed as the more jolly and mom is more cold. Doesn’t mean there isn’t love but you know.
Its like the episode when they are talking about child abuse (nonces) and Cuddy says "Its ALWAYS the dad that abuses the girl" This show is soo tone death at times. When there are plenty of cases of women abusing their power to sexually assault boys. Heck one case in the US, a female teacher abused a 12yr old boy. She got a 4 year SUSPENDED sentence. She never went to jail. If that was a man though... ho ho he'd be shanked in jail by the end of the day!
I was born with bad lungs due to my mother chain-smoking while pregnant. Living in a closed-in house with two chain-smokers further destroyed my lungs. I was given 2 years to live and my parents still refused to quit smoking. I survived until adulthood where a couple gas attacks did more damage to my lungs. I now have less than 60% lung capacity. BUT, I outlived my doctors expiration. Badly, but I lived.
There is no way in any hell that she would be working on her own child's case, its completely unethical and actually illegal. There is a biased and clouded in judgement because its her own child.
There is a reason in the real world medical boards and hospitals don’t let their doctors work on their family members like this. It is difficult and there are times where the rule is broken but this is extreme
The mom was one of the more deplorable family members. I get her desperation, but between the experimental drugs, being completely dismissive of the team and not recognizing or accepting that she was too close to the patient to be objective. But really, this is the point where Chase slips into the role of House's successor.
She wasn't shown as ''deplorable'' though, she was shown as... desperate, using questionable methods, obnoxious at times... She was arrogant with the team, went too far in treatment but she was doing this to save her daughter - which again makes her desperate and losing perspective/objectivity but not ''deplorable'' imo. You could see she would beat herself up over that mistake for a while and she stepped down from the diferential later.
“Maybe when I die they’ll get back together…” My parents divorced when I was 3-5yrs old… I’m 41 now but that line hit me hard. It sucks to be an only child with divorcing parents… really does bring that feeling like it’s your fault. This is that times a hundred… such a good show.
Speak for yourself. I was about 5 when my parents divorced and I never thought it was my fault because I was an observant child and my parents were honest with me. So NO, not anyone thinks that it's their fault. I did have many other issues but none of them is related to the divorce. This is not the worst thing in the world, trust me. Stop making this about yourself, it was THEIR decision, let it go.

We all have an expiration date. It’s only tragic when we know it. Why do some smokers live into their 90s without anything wrong with them and why do some health nuts die at 20?
i was surprised to learn there's lots of drugs used in medicine off-label. i read that doctors are allowed to use off-label drugs. companies aren't allowed to market them,m (for example, seroquel increases risk of death and cardiovascular events in people with dementia)
You know... I was very mentally unwell as a teen (Untreated and undiagnosed Bipolar 2 and ADHD). My parents used to fight about me all the time because of it. I would sit on the bottom of the stairs, just out of sight but close enough to hear everything... I used to wonder... if I was dead, would they have a happier marriage? Was I the one destroying it? If I killed myself, would they finally stop fighting? I'm 30 now. I'm glad I now get to see my parents in a happy marriage. It's sad, knowing the little girl will never get that.
So..I commented on a video a while ago about making a "Can't fake that" compilation. Is it a thing that might happen? Those are some of my favorite moments.
I remember how I used to parody house while watching and said something along the lines of "yeah yeah, mommy wants her kid to be "special", Its probably something bannal". Now imagine my face when IT WERE something bannal as minor tumour instead of cancer, mom enduced poison or an actually lupus.
They went for 75 minutes but they had to condense them to under 10 minutes by taking out unnecessary and repetitive content because the old TVs couldn’t hold anything over 10 minutes. The mondo Houser shows are very short always less than 10 minutes because of the primitive mondo TVs they had back then. The old old old TVs could not hold more than 10 minutes of show as they used CRT Catholic Ray Tubs technology and non Dylan Mulvaney CLT or Claw Technology. No harm no fowl. They tried Dylan Mulvaney to shorten the shows advertising and tried to produce a non racist TV set with Motorola involvement with flypaper control and Dylan Mulvaney CEO.

It's accurate. Most women can't take accountability for their actions and believe it is always someone else's fault
