Three of the most gifted and accomplished musicians in country music, and what a treat to hear them perform together. Each one is a major star in their own right, and each a magnificent artist on the bluegrass end of the country music spectrum. Thanks for choosing this! Great reaction.
Shon, you need to watch Vince do this song at George Jones' funeral. He sings it with Patty Loveless, and it's all he can do to make it through the song.
Ricky Skaggs is well known for playing the Mandolin. This song brings tears every time i hear it. This song is played at every family funeral i have been to. Other songs are to follow are I'll Fly Away, Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Amazing Grace. These songs take me back to all i have lost over my years on earth and remembering them. Prayers for your grandfather fighting cancer. Hope he beats it again. I have lost 2 grandpas, 2 grandmas, couple of my grandmas sisters and my mom all to cancer. I have a 6 year old grandson who just got cleared of childhood leukemia. Cancer sucks.
He added a third verse past couple years : “You’re safely home in the arms of jesus; The day will come i know i’ll see him; In that sacred place, on that holy ground”
Dad, 78, veteran, heavy equipment operator, son, brother, uncle, friend and dearly missed....as the photos of his life , flashed across the screen...well shit. Your work on this Earth is done. Thank you Dad. Go Rest High.❤
My nieces are bluegrass musicians and have met all 3 of these great artists as well as being fans of them. My nieces said that they are nice, down-to-earth people. 🙂. And FYI - in Bluegrass/Country music, it's "Fiddle" not violin 😉 and the instrument on the far right is a mandolin 😉😉😉. Great reaction, as usual!
I adore Alison Krauss. She sings a lot of bluegrass and that's not my cup of tea, but she converted me. Her voice is beautiful and my little mamaw in Heaven loved Ricky Scaggs.
Vince Gill has one the most pure voices in country music along with his guitar skills and obvious song writing abilities. Allison Kraus is an amazing vocalist along with being one heck of a violin player and Ricky Skaggs is a talented vocalist and musician himself. Their harmony is heavenly and the message is beautiful. A somber song? Yes. But yet so beautiful. God bless your grandfather! Keep the fight sir!!❤
I just lost my little brother to cancer right before the New Years he was in his 50s I'm 65 now I AK you how do you put that to rest 😢😢😢❤ GEORGE ORTIZ I MISS YOU
Played this at my son's funeral. Makes me cry every time I hear it. He was killed in a car accident a month after his 25th birthday. Oh Ricky was playing either a mandocaster or a mandolin not sure which one.
I'm the luckiest guy on earth. Tomorrow I get to see my Mom, my Daughter, and four Grandkids! They squeeze the tears right out of me....I can't wait for 11 am!
We played this at my grandfather's funeral 12 years ago. Since then I have lost my grandmother, my mom, my dad, my stepdad, and my aunt. And about 4 months ago we found out my best friend has stage 4 breast cancer. I cry every time I hear this song.
The instrument he’s playing is called the mandolin. It’s used in a lot of blue grass and traditional mountain music. Great reaction! This song gets me every time!
My late husband told me this was to the only “hymn” at his funeral - he was dying of cancer at the time. He was a superhero before he got sick, but doubly so during the 7 months he was sick.
When my dad first heard this song on the radio, he told my mom he wanted it sang at his funeral, and 8 years ago a family friend sang it for him at his funeral. Still brings tears to me
Got to see Alison Krauss in the Outlaw concert in Virginia Beach a few years back (Willie Nelson, The Avett Bros., and Lukas Nelson) and I am very grateful for that opportunity. She is older now, but aging gracefully and I found her to be absolutely stunning in her performance. Have always been a Vince Gill fan as well. His voice can take you far, far, away. BEAUTIFUL REACTION SHON, TY.
Thanks you so much for you honest reaction to such a beautiful song by my most favorite players/ singers/ songwriter in country music. And Randy and Allison are 2&3
Love this song!!! I also love to see ordinary people’s hearts and souls to be touched by the lyrics!!! I have requested it to be played at my funeral!!!
Just found your channel. Love this song. My mother has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t know who I am anymore. She has told me a long time ago she wanted this song sung at her funeral. Makes me cry every time I hear it. Love your reaction and am now a subscriber.
Ricky is like Roy Clark, in that if it has strings on it ,he can play it.Alison has collaborated with a lot of artists including Robert Plant of Led Zepplin. Vince is just a wonderful voice and has been around forever.Ricky is playing the mandolin.
Shon, praying for you and your grandfather, as you travel this difficult road. I enjoy your reactions immensely. You have such a good soul and it exudes from your videos. God bless.❤
The line in the beginning when he says you were no stranger to the rain is a nod to Keith Whitley, who had a song called "I'm no stranger to the rain."
Hi Shon, I found your channel last month. I have been binge watching your videos since. You are now my favorite. I enjoy your intellect and thoughtful reactions without gimmicks. I find you to be fun, kind, and easy to listen to. Very well balanced reactions to the music, lyrics and the artists. Sending prayers and asking for blessings to you, your family-especially your Grandfather.
Thabk you for a great reaction. This song makes my eyes "sweat," too - every time. I second the suggestion that you also react to (or even just listen to for yourself) the version he did with Patty Loveless at George Jones's funeral.
Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs both have a lot of great stuff in their solo careers. I am a big Alison Krauss fan…. She even did some duets with the lead singer from Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant). She’s fantastic!
Three of the most gifted and accomplished musicians in country music, and what a treat to hear them perform together. Each one is a major star in their own right, and each a magnificent artist on the bluegrass end of the country music spectrum. Thanks for choosing this! Great reaction.
We played this at my father's funeral, Ricky Skaggs is my cousin!!!
I grew up listening to Ricky, so grateful my Daddy introduced me to bluegrass. Your cousin is an amazingly talented musician.❤️
Shon, you need to watch Vince do this song at George Jones' funeral. He sings it with Patty Loveless, and it's all he can do to make it through the song.
Thankfully Patti had his back
Agreed!!
Yes 🙌🏼 so touching

All 3 of these folks are Bluegrass royalty, with Ricky and Vince having the ability to segue from one music genre to another seamlessly.
He added a third verse past couple years :
“You’re safely home in the arms of jesus;
The day will come i know i’ll see him;
In that sacred place, on that holy ground”
Love this song my family has played this at to many funerals
If you really wanna cry watch when Vince trys to sing this at George Jones funeral
❤❤❤
The 3 artists here, hold 59 Grammys. 59. You will NEVER hear such talent as this Trio possesses, again on stage, in your life.
The fiddle and the mandolin bring in the sadness of grief. Sadly beautiful song.
Dad, 78, veteran, heavy equipment operator, son, brother, uncle, friend and dearly missed....as the photos of his life , flashed across the screen...well shit.
Your work on this Earth is done.
Thank you Dad.
Go Rest High.❤
I had this played at my daughter’s funeral and it has brought back a flood of tears tonight. ❤
Absolutely one of the most beautiful songs ever written ❤️
Love your reactions ❤
Lawd have mercy, this song got me ugly crying, and every image of every single person I've lost is in my mind! 😢😢😢😢

Alison is now singing with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. They’ve made 2 albums and are amazing in concert
Woah!!! That's freaking amazing!
You will love Allison Kraus sing "There is a Reson".
All of these are amazing singers but I’m a big fan of Vince’s voice. One of my all time favorites ❤
Another country gospel❤❤❤ a favorite
As far as country and bluegrass legends go, it doesn’t get any better than Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs and Alison Krauss.
Blessings to you Shon and prayers for your Grandfather 💕

Me and my mom both loved this song and we played it at her funeral.
And Vince Gill is just amazing. This song is sung at all my family funerals. 😢

❤🙏🏻. May God bless you & your family. 🫶🏼
I also played this at my fathers funeral service. It was perfect. ❤️🙏🏻
Vince Gill sings a song written by Randy Newman and performed with the trumpet player Chris Botti called Losing You. I highly recommend it.
He added an additional verse after years of not feeling it was complete.
This is beautiful, but when George Jones died, Vince Gill and Patty Loveless sang this, everyone was crying.
When my dad first heard this song on the radio, he told my mom he wanted it sang at his funeral, and 8 years ago a family friend sang it for him at his funeral. Still brings tears to me
God bless y0u Vince 😢

Makes me cry each time I hear this song. I love all 3 of them.
Keith Whitley had a song called "I'm No Stranger to the Rain." You'll the line in Go Rest High where he says "you were no stranger to to the rain."
Best wishes and hopes for your grandfather.

That instrument is a mandolin! One of my favorite instruments used a lot in old country and bluegrass music. 💜👵🏼✌🏼
And Ricky Skaggs one of its undisputed masters
Love the cat
Allison has a voice like honey and Vince and Ricky are two of the finest guitar pickers in the country.

Been to many funerals with this playing.
Beautiful song ❤😢🎉
Now you must hear Chris Morgan "the father, my son is the holy Ghost"
Vince also plays with the Eagles!
I love the Cello the best.
A lot of the words he uses like no stranger to the rain are actually Keith Whitley songs
Vince wrote it those beautiful words are his
This song will make you feel, it's hard to listen to when there is a passing.
Beautiful 😢
