I've had both. I'm using two Iceco's in my big rig. Jp40 as a fridge and Jp50 as a freezer. If you are using the Iceco's as refrigerators they are fine. That crisper pocket in freezer use is absolutely worthless. So really truly it negates a lot of the use space. The biggest difference in the Dometic and Iceco is the fact the Dometics are way better inulated. I had my cfx3 55 come unplugged and it took it 10 hours to go from 8 degrees to 29 degrees. Had my Jp50 do the same thing. It was at 53 degrees 4.5 hours later. For most people that just want a refrigerator the Jp series Iceco's are pretty descent. If it didn't have that crisper pocket. I'd like them way more. I do like the slim profile.
Ya, you make a good point about the crisper pocket. It does not get as cold at all vs the rest of the fridge. I use that area for water bottles only. They get cold enough to be enjoyable. But you are spot on regarding the attribute that is the most different about the two, and that is the Dometic has a thicker insulation - agreed! Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃
Hello. Quick question. What is that extended light source you are using that you got out of the back seat? I would like to purchase one. Just subscribed 😊

How much power does it use? If you were out camping and not driving around much how long will your battery pack keep it running? As much as I would like to have a fridge the cost of the fridge and a battery pack large enough to run it will run over a $1000. Possibly $2000. My Pelican 50 cooler, as heavy as it is, will keep my food and drinks cold for over a week. It is about 30 long by 20 wide and 20 inches high. So, it is quite a bit wider and longer than either of yours so it works for your application of overlanding and sleeping in the Jeep where mine would have a much larger footprint. However, I don't have the battery pack taking up room and it keeps my food cold both in and out of the Jeep. Great review of a fridge that works for overlanding. I enjoy your channel.
Thank you for watching and for your comment! I really appreciate it! 😀 regarding the amount of power needed. A 1,000 watt hour battery could probably run it for 3-4 days in cool ambient temps. Maybe 2 days in hotter temps. I use a 1200 watt hour battery and I think I could get 4-5 days. I’d suggest a VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1500, there’s a link in the description. That would do really well and it’s a very solid option on cost, around $750. Thanks again for watching! 👏🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😁
I like your videos. Thanks for making them! For me, it would have been nice if you had shared just a minute on how these fridges run off your Jeep. So you can only plug them in when you're driving and then the down time they just are waiting to be plugged in again once you're back on the road? I'm assuming they're plugging into the cigarette lighter... Unless one has solar panels... Right?
Great question! I actually have the fridge in the Jeep at all times, and I have it plugged in to my Anker 757 (Solix F1200) with is a 1,226 watt hour battery. What I do is: I plug the Anker into a 12v outlet that is at the back of the Jeep that only provides power when the vehicle engine is on. So there is no worry about killing my Jeep battery (plus the Anker has low voltage detection on it, so it should stop ‘charging’ if the car battery is running dangerously low). This keeps the Anker charged usually about 80% to 100% at all times. Then, the fridge is plugged into the 12v outlet on the Anker. What I do is - - I just turn on the fridge when I’m going on a trip. And, I’ve never had any fear of killing my Anker or my car battery. Now, I would not recommend running a fridge off of just a vehicle battery using the 12v (cigarette lighter) as there would be a possibility of killing your battery. With an auxiliary battery like an Anker or VTOMAN in between the vehicle and the fridge, there is an added layer of protection. I hope this all makes sense! Thank you for watching and for your comment! I really appreciate it! 😀
Great question: I don’t have a decibel reader or anything, so just my ear. IMO the Dometic is slightly more quiet. But, at night, I run a ‘noise maker’ that is sort of a white-noise of the sound of rain. I love this sound to sleep to, and it drowns out any sounds that might be coming from the fridge while I’m sleeping in there. Thank you for watching and for your comment! I really appreciate it! 😀
Great question! Every video I film is done on an iPhone 14 PRO MAX and is edited on my phone as well. Thank you for watching and for your comment! 🙏🏼 I really appreciate it! 😀
