Took the words right out of my mouth. All other reviewers showing me charge times for phones, fans, appliances etc. Nothing on what is a must when outdoors for a few days - a fridge! Thanks for this review. Very detailed and extremely helpful👌👌
This is the best example of how a true review should be conducted. Most reviews regarding these type of products are nothing more than paid infomercials, and I’ve watched a lot of them that never even admit that the products they are featuring are in fact supplied to the channel for free. Regardless this video contained more practical and accurate information than most of the others I’ve watched all combined.
Thank you very much for these words. I agree with you. I couldn't found these information before I bought these things so I decided to create this videos as I would like to see it if I had found it before. Thanks and have a nice day :)
We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
SOLD! exaclty what ive been looking for in a regulated and real life scenario using two considerations ive had for my overland fridge and porta-power setup thanks so much for taking the time. Happy trails
You know what, you deserve all the compliments in the world. There are tons of reviews doing the same thing over and over again on the Ecoflow River Max, but the real test is actual usage and that is your 12v fridge. I don't have Dometic but a 45qt Bodega. This test is what I wanted to see. I use to have a thermoelectric boxes in the past and it was not efficient all all. Thank you for providing this awesome test. Just got me a Ecoflow River with extra battery and a very discounted sale at Ecoflow which is basically a Ecoflow River Max!
I purchased the I River max for powering my Dometica CFX 45. This summer I found with outside day summer temp in hi 70's low 80's I could get 28 hours with the fridge temp set to 37 deg.
This is BY BAR the BEST TEST I have seen of this product. Thanks for making a test look as realistic as posible. I dont usually comment on youtube videos but this one deserves it. Please keep making more videos like this. This is so good, real life test! Thanks a lot!
Perfect video. I have the EcoFlow Delta 1300 and always wondered how long it could power a Dometic fridge. I figured maybe a day. Surprised how long the River could run it. I don’t want to spend that much on a cooler, but I think this video has gave me confidence in Dometic, especially since the power draw when the compressor is off is almost nothing. Thanks again!
Hi, yes with the EcoFlow Delta it should be about 4-5 days with no problem. As you wrote, consumption with compressor off is under the 1W so this combination is overall very efficient. Thank you and have a nice day ;)
I never believed someone could do such a good test. You helped me out a lot designing for one system or the other. Thanks. You are a real professional person
You sir have just restored my faith in humanity =) Thanks so much mate! My Lead acid deep cycle died and was looking at the next step. Definitely inclined to this one now as I've got the same fridge.
Great test, and you didn’t even need to talk! What a good idea to test this in a 40 C temperature inside a car, this is very often how this type of fridge will be used, now I know 15w is the « worst case scenario ». Your test proved me I’m fine getting an Ecoflow mini which is 210wh capacity, at 15 watt, I know I won’t have any issue for 14 hours or more; actually I wanted it to last one night, so I’m good!
Thank you. Yes, sometimes I need to leave these things in the car on direct sun so for example at the trip over the Slovenia I experienced this scenario few times - about 40-50°C in the car. Luckily both devices have a fan and they survived it :)
Excellent informative video, thank you for taking the time to make this. I’ve done similar tests myself but with the Delta 2 and an Indel B fridge. I found that in 30 degree heat outside, the extreme temperature inside the car killed the battery twice as quickly!
Thanks for doing this test! I just picked up a Dometic CFX3 35 myself along with a EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro and this (especially your test #2) is exactly the information that I needed to know. I already noticed that the fridge is using nearly 60W when the compressor is actually running. Fortunately Ecoflow is doing a free 60W solar panel Xmas deal right now and so I got one of those too in the purchase. Sounds like I'll need the panel for more than two days of camping. If the panel delivers 60W as promised it should almost power the fridge by itself whenever the sun is shining. (Maybe I'll do a video on that myself in the summer... although with a 60W daylight boost the test might last several days).
I'm testing the riverpro on an iceco go20. I set it at 33 degrees with drinks already pre chilled. Ambient temp is 71 degrees. So far its been 12 hours and the river pro is at 88 percent. So under these conditions it looks like the river pro will run the refrigerator for 100 hours. That's amazing . Plus I have the extension battery. VERY impressed with iceco and ecoflow. Also tested with the bluetti eb3a and it ran the refrigerator for 17 hours 30 minutes. I'm also impressed for such a small capacity
This is the best real world testing I've seen - well explained (via annotations), beautifully shot and recorded using both a controlled situation and real world situation. I've watched plenty of quite technical reviews and testing of portable power packs - but yours cuts to the chase regarding performance and consumption. Was a little confused at the end - average consumption should just be in Watts, not Wh. The comma's threw me as well - but I think that's a regional thing... I've got the earlier CFX40 (with cover), River Max and 200W of solar - yet to test it all on a trip away, however my tests do reflect your results quite well.
Thank you very much Rob. Yes you're right, consumption should be in Watts and about commas - we using them here but if I wrote it in english I should have used dots instead. Thanks for the comment ;)
I have the Delta 2 with dometic 75Dz. From 100 to 47 percent was around 19 hours. However, with the 220 solar panel, the battery recharges at 197W back to full during the day. Continuing my tests through the weekend
@@denskiz1 1024Wh I ran an electric rototiller way out in the boonies for an hour on it over the weekend, and still had 30 percent left. Pretty awesome.
thank you so much for recording your test..its exactly what i was curious about and now i have my answer. I got the river max plus (720 watts) for $350 thinking it will be good for running my van mini fridge and since it recharges in about 2 hours my food wont go bad while the battery is recharging. Seems like this is the solution I was searching for IF it holds up over time. I have house batteries in my van that will keep the river charged up each day so the goal is to keep my fridge running 7 days a week.
Great engineering perspective! Nicely done! Thanks! Looking at a Comco that’s being discontinued and ridiculously cheap right now! I have Bluetti power station 2100wh and I just bought another battery extension to double power….so just trying to figure out its life in my Skoolie when parked! it also takes 45 watts when operating!

right now, I'm testing my acopower fridge which has a battery in it. but it's been plugged up to my ecoflow max for 39 hours so far and its 32% now. I have charged other things as well.
Great presentation! Am about to try out a similar coolbox with a goal zero yeti 150. Hope it works out in eco mode. On holiday during the day the solar panel will also provide extra juice for the battery.
Awesome video!! I have an EcoFlow River Max and I'm looking to buy a fridge for my work car. I hate spending money on ice every few days for my cooler. Since I use it every single day buying the fridge will be worth it! Thank you.
I have ecoflow max pro with extra battery on dometic cfx3 35 fridge in my toyota 4runner. I have plug ecoflow pro to 12v socket from my car all time while driving around and only turn on fridge when needed. No need to bring the ecoflow with extra battery back and forth to be fully charged. Also, I have connected fridge to AC inverter instead of 12v DC. It is much faster to reach desire temperature (-4c) from outside temperature around 32c to -4c in less than 15mins.
Hi, thank you for your comment. I usually do precooling home with AC and then bring fridge to the car.. yep, it is faster from AC (about 45W vs. 60-65W)

I think the fast charging is the key for it to stand up for its readiness. It did handle the work all day specially when we make coffee on the Nespresso machine.
Awesome video! Thanks so much! Can I ask why you went with the max instead of the pro? I can’t decide between the two. I love the flashing light on the max but the pro has more power. Any other differences or why you went with the max?
Hi Jaice, thank you.. hmm, good question :) In my opinion Max was cheaper and I like option buy other battery module in case I need it.. or use it as River (without extra battery module) with fewer size and weight.. but if you don't need this options and you are OK with higher price so you go to the Pro ;)
I just ordered the pro model. It was only $100 more than the max but what sold me was to advertised 800 battery cycles on pro vs 500 on the max. Not sure why that is.
@@VolvoCamperLife Thanks for the reply bud… I guess that’s where the line in the sand is drawn between the ARB and the dometic when it comes to their app
How do you find the unit after 10 months of use? Anything annoying about it, like fan noise maybe? I wonder if the fans come on while it's charging inside the car via 12V plug or solar. Or what about just having the fridge connected all night, can you ever hear it at all during the night when it's really quiet? Cheers
Hi Alex, works perferct, I can't say anything bad about it. Start fan depends firstly on ambient temperature and secondly on power station load - charging and discharging, AC inverter ON, etc.. For this thing about fan noise is there also setting inside the EcoFlow app - slow charging. This function limit the charging speed to ~110W and in normal ambient temperature fan does not start. It is works also for solar. For charging from 12V car plug is there also another setting for max. Ampers so you can lower also this charging speed but this is not necessary regarding to fan ON/OFF because also full power (12V, 8A) is only about 100W and this it can handle with pasive cooling. About this fridge it is only about 45W so it is OK too. Bigger reason for spin on the fan is AC inverter ON and loaded :)
@@VolvoCamperLife Perfect, thanks for clarifying! I am planning on using a DC DC converter to convert my 12V car battery to 24V 10A and charge it via the solar input. That way I should be getting around 180W charge. Takes too long otherwise but hopefully the fan won’t be on all the time then. But then again, it will only charge while the car is running so a fair bit of noise going anyway. Cheers
Nice testing of the device! Question; do you need a power regulator between solar panels and the ecoflow for charging or can you connect the solar panels directly to the ecoflow? Does the ecoflow regulate the solar panel input by itself?
Great review, but would like to know how noisy it is as it will be used in a small camper. Would be great if you could review noise without music over the top.
This video is EXACTLY the video I was after to see if this option was viable over a dual battery setup. You my friend deserve a gold medal!

@@garywilser7802 hey Gary, I did exactly the same thing. The Pro definitely has more bang for the buck. I’m stoked with the pro, hope you are too!
What app were you using to track the fridge operation?
Hi, it's a official app "CFX3" by the Dometic ;)
Cheers
👍🏻
Nice testing of the device!
Question; do you need a power regulator between solar panels and the ecoflow for charging or can you connect the solar panels directly to the ecoflow?
Does the ecoflow regulate the solar panel input by itself?
You don't need nothing extra. Just plug in. Regulator is built-in in power station.
Nicely done ,useful information thank you, now i need to buy a volvo d5 estate.
Great review, but would like to know how noisy it is as it will be used in a small camper. Would be great if you could review noise without music over the top.
Realy good Video thankyou sir
You are welcome! :)
Nice video. How do you access the Power Station Logs? I haven't been able to find that in the EcoFlow app?
