Create a tent in your van. Use a paracord from dollarama to drape a blanket, close off one end. It makes inside the tent section 6 degrees celcius warmer
A good option as a backup for staying warm is a 12v heated travel blanket, they draw around 50 watts. More generally, if you can get 12v versions of all your appliances, that will avoid inverter losses, thus stretching out your battery capacity more.

I have the same induction burner. It’s great. My AC inverter is only 1200W, so we set the 900W max setting on the burner. BTW, if it is sooo cold, then a gas hot plate’s wasted heat is just helping to heat your van (so the lost energy is useful, meaning the effective efficiency is actually high if you want van heating.) However, the induction doesn’t add a bunch of water vapor inside your van, and it doesn’t burn up any oxygen nor make carbon monoxide, so you’ll be happier and safer. I find using a hot water bottle and a 12 volt heated jacket and 12volt electric blanket to keep warm running off my power bank. i am surprised you didn't charge your power bank while running your heater. i also put polystyrene insulation behind the side door and behind wall panels to keep my van warm longer. you will need at lest a 350wat solar panel to charger your power bank. or you can use 12volt dc to 500 watt AC sinewave converter to charge your power bank while driving.
I lived in a 2 door Dodge neon for 3 yrs and 1 month. I warmed the car up every 1.5 hours when it was 10-28 below zero. My feet were frost bitten a couple times. Now I'm fortunate to have a home that's paid for at 56 yrs old that I inherited.
Hi Matt, nice vlog and finding that firepit was a nice bedtime ending to a day. Lucky you on having an electrical hook-up the worked. If you don't mind me throwing out some suggestions, add to your items and extension cord with the higher amp capacity and while running the heater, charge the solar generator at the same time...just in case you need the gen later on. I run a 400w tiny heater off my Jackery 1000 in my Prius and it keeps things at 65f and I wake with 58% charge left. I also changed from a butane stove to an induction stove top. However I keep the stove for emergencies. I caught myself going "I have that" when you used something on camera. Stay well and enjoy life.
You should try and get a small open trailer to hitch on the back of your van with a tarp! In that way you could carry a bit of wood and maybe a Diesel Fuel heather, pref a generator! I imagine perhaps other youtubers could help you out those that camp and live in the wild perhaps they can give you a small generator "even solar panels for the day" you also need a gun!

Your content is good of course, but I just wanted to say that I'm probably not the only one who appreciates the aesthetic. 😆
Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

You would of been fine without the heater. My friend and I went salmon fishing in up state N.Y.. It was Jan 10th and the temperature was -10 below zero. We sleep in a two man pup tent. I had a army blanket and my grandmother s quilt. The next morning we took down the tent and you can see where we melted the snow down about a foot. We never caught any fish but it was an epic weekend in 1984. I will never forget.

$50 at Homedepot vrs $30 at wallmart. Hence arbitrage at Amazom, thank u for the tip, But what is the watss consumption of the heater? Can u use it with your power bank?
Neat kitchen setup but that kind of power consumption doesn't work when you are out there for multiple days. I sometimes camp for 3 to 5 day stretches. Thats a really big battery too so the typical smaller battery would be drained in less than 1 night. I cook everything before I go on my trip and then just zap it for a couple minutes and my big battery will last more than a week. I have a disel heater too its the only type of heater with a low enough power draw to run multiple nights. Its nice when I have shore power but I want to be able to camp anywhere even spots without shore power.

@@TolbersCamping if u had a 1200w stove why not a real space heater instead of that joke of a heater u used? walmart has one for like $30 and has adjustable setting low 600w and high 1100w
$3,000 dollar van??? Bro that is a very good price....you would NEVER SEE THAT PRICE IN NEW YORK....AND YOUR VAN IS NICE BRO👍
Thanks bro and it might be worth doing a nation wide search if you’re looking for a van yourself, might find a much better deal then you local market.
I agree. This van has a lot of life left. People get 300k+ miles out of these.
@@TolbersCamping
Thanks....I only have a 2012 Toyota Corolla LE. I have seen car camping though, that's something I'd like to try
@@HandsONreviews4u I always say just start with what you have, and upgrade as you can. Just drive out to the woods, setup a chair and and small table to have some coffee by a lake or fire and then climb into your warm car for bed. You’d be surprised how fun and freeing that can actually be.
New York would charge $3,000 to register a van haha
Thank you!!! I was worried for you when I thought the electricity wasn't going to work. But praise God it did!!! Great video!!! Be safe always!!! God is good!!! ❤️👍😊
I was like Lord! You brought me out here so this is on you 😂 good thing he helped me put two and two together and get it figured out.
@@TolbersCamping Amen!!! ❤️👍😊
Really liked this video. Loved your heater. I love winter camping Videos. Glad you had a good night.
Thanks for your video. It was very relaxing to watch it and it’s so nice to see that people you can get by with so little and still be happy and feel content. You could actually go if you were retired and stay in a campsite as long as they had a showerand a bathroom you could live in that like that all around. Thanks for your video. Hope to see some more.
I have a foldable toilet that just uses a bag and a little pee jug so I got that covered. The shower is the only thing you’d need to go somewhere to do.
I love how you show the temps a lot, because I am a temperature nerd, and I always need to know what temp it is.
Right! It’s so fun knowing you’re in a small space that’s warm and comfy and just outside that glass it’s super cold 🥶
Me too!!
@@TolbersCampingТепло а не холодно,у нас зимой -50 градусов,и люди идут в глубокую тайгу на охоту
It makes it more immersive for the viewer as we can't feel the cold by just watching.
i really appreciate people who chooses discomfort and struggling way of living :D Nice vid man !
I am sooo glad my parents moved out of Minnesnowta before I was born. Can't imagine carrying a shovel everywhere.
I definitely don’t carry a shovel every where lol. Minnesota is honestly an amazing state to live in. Winter can be ruff but we have amazing spring and fall weather and summers are warm but short so don’t deal with a ton of bugs very long.
I bet you jumped for joy when you found out about the power actually working lol hell yea brosky🤙
I have that exact same heater and it works amazingly well for such a small thing
Yeah it puts out a ton of heat for it’s size
I had that same heater in a old farmhouse in upper Michigan. Kept a big old bedroom nice and warm. Then the fan went out lol. But I did like it.
Thank you for the video! Really enjoy watching and stay warm and safe. 👽
When you're in the wilderness making a survival video with store bought wood, it makes it so authentic..
Why didn’t you cook over the fire ? So you’re fan doesn’t stink
Just wanted to mention this because you brought it up in your video. I ALSO like cool lights and candles, and that's probably what first attracted me to sticking around your channel lol. Your content is good of course, but I just wanted to say that I'm probably not the only one who appreciates the aesthetic. 😆
Thanks bro and ambience is everything!
I subscribed about a minute in. This is way more relatable than a lot of what is out there. Thanks.
put a cloth between pan and plate. it will work the same and will be cleaner
Thanks!
God bless you!
Those nuwaves are the best. I have 3 of them and have been using them for many years. I love the way they function and how durable they are.
Nice catch with the heater. Love the "mad max" fix. My Dodge only has 106,xxx miles and it sounded similar when I started it in -11F. I'm happy to know my van is just getting broke in.
Thanks and yeah yours is still a baby 😂
@@TolbersCamping is that camping area a state park? I'll have to investigate if any of Wisco state parks have open camping in the winter.
Great video. I like your simple setup and equpment.I did some snow camping in Boulder CO back in 2012 I was staying in a fiberglass utility body. I like your van better. I'm getting ready to go back to trucking this January so I'm looking at your gear to use in the truck.
Hey Matt, great video, wish we had snow here in mid Illinois! Rain but little snow! Stay safe and warm! God bless you!
I’m surprised you guys get little snow out there, thought it got pretty cold in Illinois. God bless you!
Yea! I also live there and we got barley any snow!
Digging the lights. I plan to have little lights for my roof top tent. I have billie bars across my truck bed and the tent. I have considered an old astro or safari van. That little heater is perfect! I need to grab one!
I'd invest in an engine block heater. Especially if you go to sites with power in the winter.
Yeah I always make sure I have enough layers to survive lol
I love the nuwave stovetop. I'm so happy you were warm enough 💞.God bless and protect you brother ✝️❣️🙏
Thanks Teresa, God bless!
12v heating blanket under you. You can switch it on when you get cold. The good ones have a timer, so you can turn them on and go back to sleep. They last a long time on a midsized solar battery
The IH stoves have had the “Moving” issue where pans can fall. A couple of brands have built an edge on them. Be safe! 😊
Dude, sweet set up! I respect the heck out of you for being able to do something like this. Keep the vids coming man 🫡
I can’t believe the snow didn’t melt on the grill next to that fire you had for hours. Crazy good stuff.
For real lol! Thanks 😁
I can literally say this was the best camping and most relaxing van camping video that I'd saw i hope you'll keep making videos like this🤝
Hey man, awesome vid camping in -3 degree weather. Love that you carry a side arm in case of a emergency and your always prepared. Stay safe
Just come back from Lake Tahoe. -10C at 5am. Yes the water and vitamin water inside the car got ice in them
that was great Matt as usual. I like all of your new gadgets and your videos are always enjoyable. see you on the next one. Peace
Thanks Rich, I have something interesting to try out for next video 😁 hope it goes well lol
Man I love this.. I just about bought my dads caravan… I wanted a van to set up for a stealth camper also.. never panned out.. now I have a sonata and I’ve slept in it a few times but I don’t make a habit out of it
Nice Glock, always good to have protection.
It is really cool you parked close by a power plug. Heater is a game changer!
You’re a brave man! By the way, well done burgers rule!!
😁
Well at least you know there aren't any bears around
The sliding of the pan is from the induction waves lifting the pan up a bit. Super simple explaned.
I love how amazed you are with the kettle. Such a normal thing in the UK. They have some that can boil a large mug of water in 45 seconds. Not sure how fast it would be if your running 120 volts though.
But I love it bro! You are just a chill guy who camps. Keep up the good work!
Why not charge the battery power pack with the campsite power?
He said the power was turned off
11:27 some light in the rear window?
You make it look so easy and effortless. Thanks for sharing your adventures! Much appreciated: NewJersey ❤
Except for the shoveling. Nothing😊 easy there.
Nice! That was a lot of work to get that fire going. Excellent no nonsense camping trip.
I definitely need a bigger car or a van, just putting the drivers seat down at the moment and eating sandwiches lol, I enjoy the solitude
Bro that’s where it all starts! My van was only 3k and I’m sure you could find a similar deal. Then just start slowing upgrading your setup, it’s super fun!
@@TolbersCamping I bring a packed lunch how sad is that 🤣
Same but better than not

Besides the extreme weather this looks so fun getting in touch with nature, appreciating the little things. Maybe more will catch on. Great channel by the way! Stay awesome!!
You have encouraged me to hopefully start my own van life someday! Always looking forward for a new video! Keep up the great work!
Bro that’s awesome and hope you can soon!
Just do it. The hard part is leaving. Then realizing how free you feel. And don't over pack like I did. You don't really need much.
Everybody should do this ONCE in their lives!
I always think Ohio is cold until I see your videos from Minnesota. LOL. Looks like the new gear worked out well for you. That induction plate is pretty slick. Thankfully you were able to rig up that heater or it would’ve been a really uncomfortable night
😂 yeah bro it can get pretty cold up here. And yeah I’m super glad I got that heater running, made for a very enjoyable night
An electric blanket is a game changer and /or heated vest or even a heating pad
We hit -46°C last wonter 🇨🇦. Living in my car. No heater just sleeping bags and blankets. Winter is back and Im excited😊
That little heater seems like it did a good job!! I think I will look into that... And, your Vanpowers is NICE! I could use that...... 💫
I’ve been super impressed with how much heat it puts off for such a small size. Also the colored lights just make it that much cooler to me.
@@TolbersCamping My heater is 1500 watts and a very slight bit larger... but, I don't have a power station. Mostly boondocking....so less wattage is better! 💫
Tip: NEVER let your subscribers see you use store bought wood to make a fire! :)
lol I don’t worry about people’s judgment. I’d rather support some guys wood business to get some nice dry cut wood then try to trench through deep snow in freezing temperatures trying to find some dead trees to cut up. Time and energy are worth more than a few dollars to me. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, God bless
@@TolbersCamping I really enjoyed the video and subscribed. Thanks for making good quality content!

Im so happy for you and where your channel is headed. Love the color theme cup and lighting in the van the blue and green. I love seeing the improvements. Peace out
Thanks so much ♥️
Interesting to see the new gadgets and appliances. I have one of those water kettles, love it. Planning on getting that cooktop. Will check out your heater. Lived in my suv in the late winter. It gets very cold without insulation in there. God Bless.
That was a fun and C O Z Y ride!

Maaannnn... you just like me. I have all these little mishaps that make me face palm the whole way through, lol. But it makes the adventure comical.
Right lol! Gotta do our best to stay positive in the situation and learn from our mistakes.
I stumbled upon your channel today, I love the content and I love your van. I aim to do the same some day out here in Canada!
That’s awesome, glad to have you! 😁
That so called "handy heater is great. I now have one in my room. Gets a little cold in my home, it's older, 1950's. Not much insulation in the walls. So anything helps. It is small, but does heat up even a large area quick. And even if I pick it up, it kicks off. Good luck with yorurs
Awesome as always.
I have that same heater and it works like a 💎 gem.
I love all the colors of the lights also. I think my heater cost around 40 or 50 bucks though 🤔 I bought it at home depot and it was the very beginning of the 🥶 cold weather season so prices were probably up, ugh.
I really like that coffee pot it looked nice and works great, pretty cool.
Thank you for sharing your awesome adventure and for all the hard work and time you put into your videos.
KEEP ADVENTURING
GOD BLESS YOU
🤗HUGS🤗
Thanks so much and yeah I think the price has went up to $40 dollar now, I bought it early last winter when it was only $30. I love how much heat it puts off for being so small and the lights make it that much better. Thanks for watching and God bless!
$50 at Homedepot vrs $30 at wallmart. Hence arbitrage at Amazom, thank u for the tip,
But what is the watss consumption of the heater? Can u use it with your power bank?
Neat kitchen setup but that kind of power consumption doesn't work when you are out there for multiple days. I sometimes camp for 3 to 5 day stretches. Thats a really big battery too so the typical smaller battery would be drained in less than 1 night. I cook everything before I go on my trip and then just zap it for a couple minutes and my big battery will last more than a week. I have a disel heater too its the only type of heater with a low enough power draw to run multiple nights. Its nice when I have shore power but I want to be able to camp anywhere even spots without shore power.
GLOCK at 16:05
😉
Hopefully when you get back home you can put the tip over switch on the heater correctly to be safe
That thing is busted lol
