I love the way Freddie sang the line "you suck my blood like a leech". He sang it so aggressively 💀 It's amazing that he *always* sings so emotionally!
The money thing was so very horrible it really really upset Freddie. He was taught from day one to be a good person and do good in the world. This just went against everything he stood for…. Of course he was angry.
Freddie wrote this song as a result of the financial devastation Brian, Roger, Johnny with his family and Freddie himself lived as their manager Norman Sheffield misrepresented and enjoyed a millionaire life, note that Freddie doesn't mention his name in the song but Sheffield conceded it was him stealing from Queen° when he promtly sued them for "defamation" not because he suddenly cared for his reputation but because he was a money hungry grifter and took the "opportunity" to make extra money, utterly vile but he continued to make money off Queen and even wrote a "biography" and died of throat cancer apparently not too long after. Keep enjoying your heavenly glory resting in peace Freddie you will never be boring. I and the world love you💘 💔❤️🩹💖 I've played this video specially a lot lately and I guess in his infinite wisdom Freddie wrote this song and allowed me to reference most utterly wicked death on two legs of my lifetime.
Not if you were young back in the 1970s. Their music back then was massively loved. Their albums were mega sellers. But it's nice to see a new generation falling in love with it, just as we did back then.
Don't think so: Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, We will rock You, We are the Champions, Bicycle Race, Don't stop me now... all 70's and famous until today. Just take any one song from the Live Killers Tour, all masterpieces and most of them well known in their day over the radio. Freddie, in his stage alter ego disguise, was a brilliant singer, player and also showman at least by the end of the 70's. Live Killers just swept me away with its power, even without video.
His singing and playing cut through to me blood. If you love Freddie’s playing you owe yourself some Will Wood. His playing reminds me a bit of Freddie’s prog meets metal vis a vis British music hall/honky-tonk.
Its unbelievable that freddie said he was so shy and unconfident on the piano. He totally rocks it when ever he is playing. But i guess everyone has their insecurities!
Just realized that every song on A Day at the Race is a sequel to a song on A Night at the Opera. Bohemian Rhapsody = Somebody to Love (Operatic, large choir, complex, by Freddie) You're My Best Friend = You and I (Sweet songs by John) '39 = Long Away (Space song by Brian, poignant) Sweet Lady = Tie Your Mother Down (Hard rock by Brian) Seaside Rendezvous = Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy (piano based, romantic request to a lover, by Freddie) Death on Two Legs = Tie Your Mother Down (Vicious, angry, Freddie said Brian was trying to outdo in viciousness him on this one.) The Prophet's Song = White Man (Epic, moral warning, ancient sounding melodies) Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon = The Millionaire Waltz (Operetta, vaudeville, by Freddie, piano based.) I'm In Love With My Car = Drowse (Hard rock by Roger) Love of My Life = You Take My Breath Away (Sad, quiet, romantic, piano based, by Freddie. Good Company = Teo Torriate (Instrumentally different, but both by Brian and both with similar nostalgic/ romantic themes and use of non -traditional instruments e.g. ukulele, plastic piano. God Save the Queen is a cover and thus does not count. Isn't is genius?

I've heard Queen on the radio all my life. Great band, great albums, great songs, but at this point, it's ho hum, same old same old songs over and over again. 10-14-24 and it's the first time I've heard this song. It's like a fresh, cool drink of water on a hot day!!!
I remember it clearly. My mum had bought the LP Night at the Opera when I was a teen and all I listened to on it was BoRap. Then one day I decided to see what else was on it. I flipped it over, dropped the needle and then dropped myself. I was blown away when death on two legs started. I thought “holy hell!” I didn’t know what he was going on about but knew he was pissed. I was hooked solid after that. The best rock album ever
I'll never forget the first time I spun this album on my old turntable. Death on Two Legs may be the best 1st track on any album in my collection. What a song!
Wish I'd been born at that time, I'd have LOVED to go to a Queen concert! & I mean back in those days, with Freddie & John still in the band. RIP Freddie.
The song is sung from the heart and directed ,"toward a nasty little man" another master piece from Freddie and the gang. (like the rest of us he is deeply missed).

The one and only part, in my opinion. ;)

He never did get enough credibility as a pianist. He was very skilled
an absolute beast.

I love how he came from “Listen to me lovies” to an agressive, angry song
It should also be added that this song has a delicate beginning that is a few seconds long. (I mean the intro that Freddie plays.)
