Haven't seen "A Serbian Film," but I've read about it. "Midsommar" and Titane are good but so bizarre! The most disturbing movie I've seen in the last ten years is "Tusk." Great list!
Tusk is certainly disturbing and bizarre! A Serbian Film made me really despise the director for being such a degenerate. It's hard not to picture the actual director as the "director" in the movie itself...

You missed some of the all-time classics! Any list like this has to include at least one or two of the following: I Spit on your Grave, Faces of Death 1, Love Strange Love, Caligula, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, or the most notorious film in history, Snuff. I worked in a couple of video stores in the 80s, and we had entire sections of so-called "banned" movies. If I remember correctly, the industry term was "video nasty."
*PFFT!* You're in La La Land with those Disney titles. 'Salo, Or The 120 Days Of Sodom', the first two Centipede films (particularly the second one), 'Cannibal Holocaust', 'Inside', 'Audition', 'Antichrist'; these are the disturbing films that must appear on a list. I mean, The Hostel movies are more disturbing than anything you've mentioned!
@@philsurtees My point is that his list didn't go far enough with his criteria... to me. I offered a few examples that go further than his list. I also wasn't trying to make my own top ten list here or anything. Just throwing out a few titles I remembered from when I was growing up. I'm sure everyone has their own list of disturbing films. Everyone's tolerances for shock content is different.
@@MrProy33 Yes, I know the point you were trying to make, and my response was that you were completely and utterly wrong. Which part of what I said wasn't clear???
I came here to get recommendations, and wasn’t disappointed, as I’ve seen almost half of these. Also fun to read through the comments, and find more must see films. I would include American Mary and Holy Motors.
When you say Serbian Film is just upsetting and does nothing else that's a massive oversight of how AMAZING the acting was from the lead actor. Its some of the best acting I've ever seen. A lot of the side characters were typical grindhouse level but imo that movie would just be another forgettable shock movie without him.
The problem with Naked Lunch the movie is it gives visual awareness to things that are only going on in the Author’s mind in the book, much like Fear and Loathing. I feel the subtle messages get lost in the images
Thanks for having the balls to post this list of disturbia. Thought you might have had the war/horror movie "Come and See" on this list. This movie was by far the most disturbing I had or will ever see with images burned into my brain for the rest of my life.
That was a great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Will try and check out one or two recommendations, depending on what I can tolerate!!! Many thanks for sharing with us. Always appreciate your presentations 👍👍👍
Yesss, I loved Midsommar! Glad I finally caught up on that one ... and I have to concur, the original Funny Games is absolute gold. If I may, one suggestion is a banger from my hometown: Snowtown (although I think it was marketed in the US as "The Snowtown Murders").
Midsommar made me furious. I didn't know what I was getting into and by the time I was as disgusted, repulsed and angry as I've ever been watching a film, it was too late. Mulholland Drive, however, has always been on my rewatch list. I just didn't get it the first time around and have always wanted to finish that particular puzzle. As always, thanks, Darren, for sacrificing a few more brain cells to make us all smarter.
I felt the same way about Midsommar, for some reason it bothered me more than a lot of more graphic movies... It just made me so uncomfortable, and some of the characters decisions were detestable.
Thanks for the great video and recommendations. I’m sure people with throw in their choices that you should’ve had, and here’s mine - With David Lynch, you could’ve put in his first feature film Eraserhead (1977) and/or Blue Velvet (1986) and you would not be wrong with either or both. Have to include David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers (1988) and not much can beat it for being sick, twisted and disgusting body horror. Dead Ringers got turned into a TV series that streamed last year. I haven’t seen it, but I understand that it’s pretty good and doesn’t disappoint with the sick and messed up factor. You could’ve included Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (1972) which totally outraged people back in the day with its depiction of violence, rape, and more violence. When I was just a kid in college, me and a bunch of other kids got to see a preview for Clockwork Orange in Hollywood and people in the audience lost their shit. Some even walked out. After the movie we had a sit down with a couple Hollywood old schoolers and they went completely nuts about how bad the movie was and that it was the end of Kubrick’s career in the movies. Of course everybody was wrong and it’s become a classic, even though it’s pretty crazy even by today’s movie standards. You could’ve included a French-Belgian movie called Man Bites Dog (1992). It’s about a hit man who’s followed by a documentary film crew, and there’s just about every insane, disgusting, nauseating and nasty thing that you can imagine that anybody would dare to put on film. This is one foreign film that I can guarantee that Hollywood will never, ever make, because it’s got stuff that will freak you out. It’s in all Black & White which may make it a little more palatable for some people. It’s also got English subtitles. It’s not the kind of movie you want to learn French with. Believe me. Finally, there’s 13 Tzameti (2005) which is another French language film made by young director Gela Babluani. This is a really sick, f-d up 95 minutes of just wild shit. It’s got a crazy story, a serious body count, and it’s also in B&W just to add to the overall grimness of things. Definitely not what you’d want to watch on a date night with Schindler’s List on the bill. Brad Pitt’s production company remade the movie with the original director in 2010, and the Hollywood influence completely ruined it. I don’t even know if Babluani is even making movies, because his experience with the Hollywood way of doing things had to really suck. Only place I know where to find 13 Tzameti is the used DVD market online, like eBay. It’s really worth watching. Just don’t watch it at night, if you’re depressed, or if you’ve spent all day drinking. It’s a great movie if you have the time, stomach and mental stability to watch it.
Just as i was wondering if Irreversible was gonna make the list, BAM! Gaspar Noe' is incredible, his follow-up 'Enter the Void* is just WILD.. Although my g/f, having lived in Japan, got annoyed with the cop shooting in the beginning...as they dont carry guns. But visually its astounding. Also you should checkout Afterbirth w/ Natasha Lyonne...talk about W.T...F??
Your right about Martyrs, I saw this years ago on netflix and bought a copy just to freak out friends who think horror is just gore and boy is this not that.. Irreversable is cool as you see the endgame way before the reason of it and it is sick. Have not seen the rest of this list but I am curious so just maybe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Do you know this movie? In America, in a forest, in an old shack with a workshop. The female somehow knocks the male out & bolts him to the floor of the workshop, screwing the bolt directly through his leg. I can't find this anywhere & can't remember what it was called!
Irreversible it's definitely one of the most disturbing and memorable films I've ever seen. No desire to ever watch it again, but I'm glad I saw it once. Watch with care
Bully Audition Ichi the killer Frailty 8mm Antichrist August underground series Human centipede 2 Nekromantik Inside Cannibal holocaust Men behind the sun Salo Snowtown murders Happiness The bunny game Pink flamingos Melancholie der engel Just to name a few more
Titane is the only one I haven’t seen - will check it out! Here are a few more recommendations for this video topic: * Inside. * Murder, Set, Pieces (awful movie, but still fits the bill). * Cannibal Holocaust. * August Underground (trilogy, avoid at all costs). * Salo (do NOT WATCH!). * Wolf Creek. * In A Violent Nature (new, recommended, has possibly my all time favorite death scene). * Audition (most of you have probably seen it already, but the scene where the guy eats vomit…. it’s actually real vomit).
Requiem for a Dream deserves top spot for sure! I own it but have only watched it twice. If you watch it just be ready to put something light on after as a palate cleanser.
I loved how you didn’t just put the same old disturbing ones (I know a Serbian film is on here) but you kind of have too have it on. The new editions like kill list and requiem for a dream I wholeheartedly agree with those. The one I was surprised on was Mulholland Drive, it’s atmospheric and has that disturbing mental anguish you mentioned, but I honestly thought you were going to choose Wild at Heart. Either way, great list.
You covered the two that I had the toughest time with: Martyrs and A Serbian Film. I mentioned it elsewhere on UA-cam, but I got to a certain point in Martyrs and had a panic attack (I'm susceptible to those, so it wasn't a huge shock). A week later I resumed the movie and before long had another panic attack. After that I decided to just READ about how it ended! And, in retrospect, A Serbian Film was a cakewalk by comparison.
You are correct, Martyrs is deeply disturbing, but there’s something else going on that distinguishes it above a Serbian Film. There’s a troubling existential *theme* being presented that lingers with you long after the credits have rolled, longer even than those images of brutality. And that’s completely missing from a Serbian Film.
The Eyes of My Mother for sure! Darren has mentioned it on lists before, but it could definitely fit on this one! Antichrist, Salo, and Cannibal Holocaust could be on here as well.
This is my kind of list, considering I've already seen 6/10 of these. I clicked because I recognized Irreversible and wanted to know the rest. I agree about Requiem for a Dream (although I would have put it at number 3) - I watched it shortly after it came out and it took 10 years before I was willing to watch it a second time. There will not be a third. Irreversible I would have put first. Every scene is one long take, no cuts, well done. The interesting thing about the order being backwards is you see a violent crime, then the crime that caused it (the rape), and then you see why it is so heartbreaking. Really sticks with you. You gotta be in a certain mood to watch that one. Midsommar is just completely brilliant. Everyone should watch it. I put off watching because I heard it was gory and I have to be in a certain mood for that. It wasn't! I regret not seeing it sooner! 10/10 will rewatch.
I call it "Requeem for a Dream" & I completely agree, I saw this happening when the movie came out & it really hits home for me. It's like "Idiocracy" in it's prophetic after thoughts. You actually see what is happening that everyone refuses to talk about or coarse correct.
I have to admit that I walked out of Requiem for a Dream very disturbed simply because it truly shows what happens to a lot of drug users... no happy endings here.
I remember hearing about "A Serbian Movie". So, I went looking for it. Found it on a torrent site. Downloaded it. Started watching it. Yeah, it was disturbing but no big deal I thought. But then, the scene with the baby hit... I immediately stopped it, deleted it. That was the first time EVER, I thought to myself: "Yep. They went TOO far on that one." Anyway, I also saw Martyrs, yes GREAT movie. Disturbing for sure, but much more watchable than "A Serbian Movie". This was the 2nd video of yours that I've watched, I enjoy your work. You have a new subscriber! 👊👊👊
I saw A Serbian Film here on UA-cam a few years ago. They also had Salo and Cannibal Holocaust. I really enjoyed Midsommar. I'm a Pagan who loves folk horror. I haven't seen Requiem for a Dream yet, but the book is really good.
Mulholland Drive requires you watch a video that explains it. There are several, but not all do it well. Worth the explanation. Makes the movie even better.
i watched irreversible in film school, and goddamn that movie is so raw. once we get to the end (beginning) the loving embrace is so uncomfortable and really forces you to be empathetic for victims. i recently watched a movie that has not left me and i recommend it but i also dont at the same time for how emotionally taxing it was is "nothing bad can happen" definitely watch at your own risk
Funny Games remake is a shot for shot remake by Micheal Haneke the original Director .... its interesting watching both. Unsure of his motivation to do this probably thought his film deserved a wider US Audience.
Dude ! After watching your episode where you are wearing the Bad Fellas tshirt , I searched the internet, trying to find that shirt for like an hour ! But just saw your link to your shop and purchased it. Thank you ! Lol
The 2017 movie Trauma by Lucio A. Rojas has been compared to A Serbian Film. I don't know if I would go quite that far but it's definitely up there. It's on Tubi right now. There is more than one movie with the same title so I included the year and the director. Another movie I never see on disturbing movie lists is Nothing Bad Can Happen. It's a very dark and depressing movie that can be an uncomfortable watch.
Requiem for a dream is definitely the most hard to watch/rewatch movie. Saw it twice with about 10 years in between each viewings and it was just as brutal. Horrific masterpiece. And you are absolutely right about how vividly i/you remember this movie, down to insignificant details. Thats how hard this movie hits. Absolutely brutal.
Martyrs, Requim for a dream and Irreversible are realy great movies… U could dive deeper to find disturbing movies.. August Underground series Slaughtered vomit dolls series Philosophy of a knife Begotten Salo Melancholie der engel Vase de noces Where the dess goes to ske (and all the other movies made by Jimmy ScreamerClauz) And alot more…
I think the thing that made Funny Games distressing and disturbing for me when I first watched it was that "Remote" scene, my jaw legit dropped when that happened, but when I rewatched it recently, I actually thought it was a stroke of genius for metaphor that Psychopaths don't play by the rules of the world. Also, you should check Audition, Bedevilled (2010) and Man Bites Dog....and Vortex if you're a Noe fan, not really disturbing in the same sense that Irreversible or I Stand Alone is but if definitely leaves existentially crushed by its end.
Not sure if you’ve recommended this particular film in the past, but Fall Time with Mickey Rourke and Steven Baldwin is awesome!! I stumbled across years ago and I loved it! The premise was really cool and it wasn’t a high budget film or anything. It’s one of those movies that has a story that grabs you right from the beginning and things get pretty crazy.
Man, martyrs is one of my highly recommended movies, i love movies like it that knows what you are thinking while ur watching it, then flips it over your head, almost like an interactive medium, the only other movie that does that for me is the game
I enjoyed _Midsommer,_ but one of the most disturbing films I've ever seen was the starring/directed by Asia Argento: _The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things,_ also featuring the Sprous brothers, and Jimmy Bennett. It was a deeply disturbing film but so well made I simultaneously was pleased to have seen it and knew I'd never want to see it again; while Argrnto plays the world's worst mother, Peter Fonda and Ornella Muti play the world's worst grandparents...
According to the dir, A Serbian Film had an allegorical message regarding the Balkans civil war. Also, Funny Games remake was remade shot-4-shot by Haneke, which is unusual. Both excellent films.
In case you missed it, not so long ago (a couple year at most I think) Irreversible was reedited and repremiere in theater (at least in France) in chronological order. Also, one that I found myself pretty uneasing, the ending, and that didn't made it to your list was Old Boy.
They don’t really ever put movies like that in US theaters. Maybe independently owned ones. The only reason old boy was omitted was because it topped a very recent Netflix list I did.
Wow!!! Quite a list!! And well presented mate!! Love a good movie, but love a movie that makes you think!! Disturbing and otherwise. Good thinking movie for me would have to be 'Inception'. Keep up the good work!!
For psycho thriller, Strange Days has stuck with me. We all know the scene and the mind that thought it up is sooo twisted that if you truly get what’s going on and how wrong it is in so many ways, you continue to feel sick for decades knowing you get it. Ugh For gory psycho twisted I’d say Captivity stuck with me a long time. And for just sickening, last house on the left. Jeeesus Thoughts on those??
I own and have watched a lot of horror and avant-garde movies in my life, The Girl Next Door is the only film that I watched and then smashed the disc with a hammer, I found that movie sooo shocking I wish to not be in possession of it.
Thanks for another good one Darren! I'm a bit disappointed not finding one of MY most disturbing movies on your list. Starry Eyes (2014). I sure don't think I ever want to watch that again. I found it pretty interesting in a very unpleasant way. Ew. Have you seen it? It didn't make your list?
The Human Centipede is without question the most disturbing movie ever made, it has no rival. As far as the best most disturbing film ever, I would put the all-time classic “A Clockwork Orange” at the top of the list.
Surprised Antichrist by Lars Von Trier starring Willem Dafoe isn't on your list. Good luck getting through this snarling beast of a film. Also, I can't recommend highly enough Brandon Cronenberg's Possessor. It has some very disturbing stuff in it, but it is overall a great movie.
The most disturbing movie I’ve ever seen is Class of 1984. The first half has some messed up stuff happening, but when we get into the 3rd act, it gets legitimately messed up.
I’ve seen all of these and they’re all great. But I’ve forgotten things about everyone of them, except irreversible. That movie will never leave my mind.
A old friend of mine worked as a VP for Artisan and told me when Requiem for a Dream was coming out and when they screened it many walked out completely disturbed
Midsommar is disturbing but very nice. I recommend it. I did not enjoy watching it, but zi recommend it to everyone, I cannot stop thinking about this movie
I couldn’t agree more regarding Requiem for a Dream. I’ve watched it twice, years apart and it had the same impact both times…I wanted to take a shower afterwards to “wash” it off. A truly exhausting movie.
I think I have a fairly strong stomach and the films in this list that I have seen I don't regret watching. There are two films that I wish I could unsee. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre I saw in cinema on its first release and it was at the time the most violent film ever. The other is The Human Centipede, which is literally nauseating. Anyone who hasn't seen these, I don't advise you give them a try, there are better ways of spending your time.
Your description of these movies is spot on, having seen most of them I agree with your comments. Eraserhead is up there for its weirdness and total strangeness.

I worked in a couple of video stores in the 80s, and we had entire sections of so-called "banned" movies. If I remember correctly, the industry term was "video nasty."
*PFFT!*
You're in La La Land with those Disney titles.
I was expecting salo to be on here and also taxidermia @@philsurtees
@@MrProy33 Yes, I know the point you were trying to make, and my response was that you were completely and utterly wrong. The movies you listed are *NOT* very disturbing and certainly do *NOT* go further than the ones on his list, so I listed a number which actually *ARE* more disturbing.
Which part of what I said wasn't clear???
@philsurtees well, I spit on your grave (remake) is pretty bad. Worse than the centipede movies in my opinion
The diner scene in Mulholland is one of my all-time favorites
I came here to get recommendations, and wasn’t disappointed, as I’ve seen almost half of these. Also fun to read through the comments, and find more must see films. I would include American Mary and Holy Motors.
When you say Serbian Film is just upsetting and does nothing else that's a massive oversight of how AMAZING the acting was from the lead actor. Its some of the best acting I've ever seen. A lot of the side characters were typical grindhouse level but imo that movie would just be another forgettable shock movie without him.
Very good point. 👍 I think it is very nearly a brilliant movie; the occasional comedic tone kills the sincerity of the story for me.
No it wasnt lol he was decent some of it was so ott it ws funny
@Yamum873 Yeah, that's what I was getting at; the OTT stuff was comical and ruined any serious points the story was trying to make.
Cronenbergs, The Naked Lunch.... wowser😮
For reasons I can't explain, I preferred Video Drone. Maybe after a re-watch, I'll change my mind
I'd forgotten about that one
Watched it with a friend at university. Afterwards we walked back to the canteen, a good mile, in total silence .
I fell asleep during that film. ‘The Nightingale’ ‘Human Centipede’ ‘Piano teacher’ ‘irreversible.’ 😂
Fantastic list. I wish I had never seen A Serbian Film but it definitely deserves to be on this list. Mulholland is a masterpiece.
Great list. I would have put Blue Velvet in place of Mulholland Drive. Anyway, I guess I have to check out Midsommar now.
That was a great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Will try and check out one or two recommendations, depending on what I can tolerate!!! Many thanks for sharing with us. Always appreciate your presentations 👍👍👍
Lmao "unclench your pearls"
Outstanding list. I'll just have to find this "Titane" somewhere.
It's available on Channel 4 player 4OD 👍🏼
I watched on Amazon prime
Don’t bother. Absolute pretentious crap. And that’s coming from someone whose favourite films are at serious risk of being labelled ‘pretentious crap’
Upset me mainly because I love Hereditary and was disappointed with Midsommar. And yes, ending just kinda made me feel ill more than anything.
Thanks for the great video and recommendations. I’m sure people with throw in their choices that you should’ve had, and here’s mine -
With David Lynch, you could’ve put in his first feature film Eraserhead (1977) and/or Blue Velvet (1986) and you would not be wrong with either or both.
Mulholland Drive is an awesome flick. Check out The Seasoning House, Bone Tomahawk(most disturbing scene in a movie) and The Naked Prey.
Bone Tomahawk last night 😳
Naked Prey: hunter encased in mud and roasted on a spit. Seared into my brain.
Bone tomahawk definitely had that wince scene. Omg
Bone Tomahawk f****d me up. It was SO unexpected. Brilliant.
I will never watch Requiem for a dream again. It was the most disturbing movie I’ve ever seen.
I was going to say the same thing.
Your right about Martyrs, I saw this years ago on netflix and bought a copy just to freak out friends who think horror is just gore and boy is this not that..
Irreversable is cool as you see the endgame way before the reason of it and it is sick.
Have not seen the rest of this list but I am curious so just maybe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
These are all my favorites. When you want to make it stop and just have to watch it through!
The house that Jack built is a good one too.
There were parts of it that were a slog, but the picnic/hunting scene stuck with me.
Totally agree with Requiem for a Dream at number one. Have seen it twice and actually own it. Not a film that is ever forgotten.
What, no love for "Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer"? Or the early 70s Italian classic "Flesh For Frankenstein", with the Igor/necro-love scene?
HPOASK remake or original?
@@aliaswizard604 OG with Michael Rooker........didn't know there was a remake.
Do you know this movie? In America, in a forest, in an old shack with a workshop. The female somehow knocks the male out & bolts him to the floor of the workshop, screwing the bolt directly through his leg. I can't find this anywhere & can't remember what it was called!
Is it Apostle? Was on Netflix some gory stuff breaking bones with big hammer?
Wow, that looks pretty brilliant, but not the one I can't remember the name of & pre Netflix too!
Funny Games remake but by the same director . Michael Haneke.
almost all his filmography interesting to watch.
Irreversible it's definitely one of the most disturbing and memorable films I've ever seen. No desire to ever watch it again, but I'm glad I saw it once. Watch with care
Bully
Audition
Ichi the killer
Frailty
8mm
Antichrist
August underground series
Human centipede 2
Nekromantik
Inside
Cannibal holocaust
Men behind the sun
Salo
Snowtown murders
Happiness
The bunny game
Pink flamingos
Melancholie der engel
Just to name a few more
You will forever be a LEGEND!
Titane is the only one I haven’t seen - will check it out! Here are a few more recommendations for this video topic:
* Inside.
* Murder, Set, Pieces (awful movie, but still fits the bill).
* Cannibal Holocaust.
* August Underground (trilogy, avoid at all costs).
* Salo (do NOT WATCH!).
* Wolf Creek.
2 girls 1 cup has my vote
😂😂
I haven’t watched requiem in over 20 years and I still can’t get it out of my head. It’s never leaving unfortunately…
'When Evil Lurks' (Shudder) is pretty disturbing...Argentinian film.
It's damn good too
A Serbian Film left a scar on my mind.
I've had panic attacks in my life but never from a movie, I'm intrigued. Martrys is now on my list as a movie I need to see.
Another chef's kiss of a list!! There's a couple of movies I could add, though: The Eyes of My Mother & Skins.
The Eyes of My Mother for sure! Darren has mentioned it on lists before, but it could definitely fit on this one! Antichrist, Salo, and Cannibal Holocaust could be on here as well.
Great list. For the drug movie, I would have almost pick “Enter the Void”. But Requiem is definitely better.
I read the plot synopsis for Serbian film. It sounds like a good time for the whole family.
Solid list but 3 much more disturbing movies-
The Angels Melancholia
August Undergrounds Mordum
Atroz
Midsommar is complete rubbish.
Good list, but I would add Audition, Hereditary, The Innocents, and Speak No Evil.
Which audition movie?
Requiem for a dream is definitely the most hard to watch/rewatch movie. Saw it twice with about 10 years in between each viewings and it was just as brutal. Horrific masterpiece. And you are absolutely right about how vividly i/you remember this movie, down to insignificant details. Thats how hard this movie hits. Absolutely brutal.
Irreversible scarred me for life. I would never watch it again nor will I ever watch A Serbian film. Great list
Irreversible is the only one on this list I've seen. Burnt in forever. Ouch.
Martyrs, Requim for a dream and Irreversible are realy great movies…
U could dive deeper to find disturbing movies..
August Underground series
Slaughtered vomit dolls series
Philosophy of a knife
Begotten
Salo
Melancholie der engel
Vase de noces
Where the dess goes to ske (and all the other movies made by Jimmy ScreamerClauz)
And alot more…
New drinking game: shots everytime Darren says "Disturbing". Awesome work & thanks!
I saw Requiem on Thanksgiving one year everyone was in great mood. That movie sucked the life right out the room.
Haha I hear that tune now and then when I’m out and about.
Totally fu@ked up movie that I had to look away from so many times. I felt guilty watching it. Jeremy Renner played a creep in a small part too.
”Baise-moi” is another disturbing movie imo. And most of Larry Clark’s movies gives you a weird feeling afterwards.
According to the dir, A Serbian Film had an allegorical message regarding the Balkans civil war.
Also, Funny Games remake was remade shot-4-shot by Haneke, which is unusual. Both excellent films.
A Serbian film! I barely made it thru * Baskin* which was 👍 and entertaining.
Phenomenal Extreme top 10. Saw this in my feed and subbed. Seen most of these films but Requiem boasts 11x as I’m an Aronofsky fan.
For psycho thriller, Strange Days has stuck with me. We all know the scene and the mind that thought it up is sooo twisted that if you truly get what’s going on and how wrong it is in so many ways, you continue to feel sick for decades knowing you get it. Ugh
For gory psycho twisted I’d say Captivity stuck with me a long time.
And for just sickening, last house on the left. Jeeesus
Thoughts on those??
Last House on the Left remake?
I thought for sure Killer Joe would be on your list. That was a very dark, disturbing movie.
Mulholland Drive has always been in my top 2 movies of all time. I may check out Requiem for a Dream. Thanks Darren! I've used your picks a lot.
I own and have watched a lot of horror and avant-garde movies in my life, The Girl Next Door is the only film that I watched and then smashed the disc with a hammer, I found that movie sooo shocking I wish to not be in possession of it.
There’s a few different versions too, one starred Ellen page.
Serbian Film and Martyrs are a level above human centipede for me. Raping babies and having sex with headless bodies is rough
You left out Megan Is Missing. This one could be at the top of your list😮
Martyrs def in my top 5 horror movies ever. That movie is BRUTAL
It's great to see a nice, lightweight disturbing list to get into this type of film if you want a starting point. Thank you.
A old friend of mine worked as a VP for Artisan and told me when Requiem for a Dream was coming out and when they screened it many walked out completely disturbed
Hard Candy has the best payoff at the end , a real must watch , very satisfying end.
Absolutely loved your list!
Hey Darren, I'm ready, bring it on, im sure ill pass on most
My idea of a Depression Double Feature has always been Requiem for a Dream and Leaving Las Vegas. And free therapy is offered in the lobby.
