About Harupaka Japanese
Welcome to Harupaka Japanese! I am Haruka.
Follow me and learn Japanese in a way it is really used in daily life in Japan!
I am also working as a private tutor on italki. If you are looking to improve your Japanese conversation in the most effective and the fastest way, you are in a perfect place!
Since my full-time job is as a private tutor, and making UA-cam videos during my spare time, I will not correct your Japanese sentences in the comment section. Please use there to encourage yourself to continue Japanese learning! If you want me to correct it, please book lessons with me on italki! The first lesson will be a self-introduction in Japanese. Even if you are a complete beginner, you will start to talk in Japanese from the day 1! 😉
My goal is to help someone who wants to learn Japanese like you!
Since I am an immigrant to Quebec, Canada, I know how hard to live in another country and accustomed to other cultures. (I love living in Quebec, though!) Because of the immigration, I have been studying French as well. I would be happy if I can help someone who currently lives in Japan but have difficulty with the language, with this UA-cam!
The simplest way i understood this is desu is used when referring to a state of being something while masu is used when referring to a state of doing something

Bro saved me 8 minutes
this is going in my notebook thank u
Thanks, I hear そうですか "Sōdesu ka" (is that so/ I see") all the time in J-dramas, this little rule absolutely fits.
Oh my goodness! I never imagined I'd help so many people. I wish you all the best in your japanese learning journeys ♥️♥️
You have given six concrete Japanese sentences to conclude all Japanese sentence rules, which help me much in understanding the Japanese language.I have taken much interest in Japanese for years. For my part I think Japan has many merits for Taiwan to learn.Thank you very much for your instruction!
ありがと、先生!
Thank you!!! I’ve be struggling on trying to understand wa and formulate Japanese sentences, this helped a lot! 🌸💗✨
Glad to hear that!!😆🌟 Keep going!!
I was really sad to see you are no longer posting videos. Hope you come back soon!
素晴らしい!
cool, thank you
I've just found your chanel and just wanna say that your videos is so informative and interesting!! Thank you for your great work!
Really interesting .
Thankyou for the video, it was extremely useful! :)
I really did enjoy this video.
thank you i understand this now
thank you very much it was very usefull
Teacher you are Great 👍
Very informative, hontoni arigato!
Brilliant video, love your enthusiasm... New subscriber, ありがとございました
You explained so well ❤ i was really struggling with sentences structure and words as they always seem to change but now i see why
Glad to see you teach Japanese, it looks easy when Haruka speaks, but it's actually difficult. Greating from Indonesia🙏
I always want to learn Japanese
Thank you
Thank you for watching!😀
Very helpful. I found the use of "desu" hard to understand, but this video made it click.
I've been studying on and off for about 6 months (total 3 months because I took several months off). It wasn't until recently that I finally started to grasp the difference between です and ます. And now I can be confused by other things, like adding い lol
These videos are fantastic. I was using rosetta stone with no context for Japanese language structure and it was challenging to say the least, but now it is beginning to make sense! Thank you!
This video was super helpful for me, being someone beginning to learn Japanese, ありがと!
*ありがとう
hontoni arigatou sensei.
I learned a lot.
Nice I like it 😊
Thank you!! 😄
Welcome
Your videos are super nice and useful. Ones of my dreams is to go to Japan and eat at some Yatai Ramen, and I mean those super traditional ones, a wooden car pulled by and old man :)
So my point is, I want to know at least the basics of Japanese so I can nicely ask for things :D
あ、ありがとうございます☺️
Thank you so Ms. Haru because of you I'm in love with you🥰🥰🥰
友達の間でもですます調を使うことはあるけど、具体的にどんな時に使うかを友達に説明したいのですが、自分にもよく分からないみたいです。細かいながら、いつか把握したいです。
This was an informative video... and I think I understand the difference between です and ます better now... BUT the reason I searched for and found this video in the first place is because my senseis KEEP referring to something called です /ます form. I'm still not sure I know/understand what "です /ます form" is since in this video these are presented as two SEPARATE things. 😓
Are Masu and Desu used only in affirmative sentences?
Thank you for this class, it's very great and helped me a little bit to understand the use of them!
In negative sentences, masu turns to masen and desu turns into janai desu.
this would be a lot easier if I had a better English teacher in school lol it was one of my worst subjects more specifically sentence structure and what it all meant subject verbnoun ETC also punctuation but I did pretty well at tenses and which words to use. Other than that I struggled because unfortunately I switched schools several times and got left behind in some areas of schoolwork. appreciate the video though
Harupakan-san, arigato goziamasu. I have wanted to hear somethign on DESU and MASU.
Hai!
you look nice❤
Shizuka. From doraemon
ハルカさん、ありがとうございます!これはとてもやくにたったです😁. I'm sorry I don't know how to make the kanji for your name
よかった😆✨ My kanji is not normal "Haruka", so in that case, as you did, write in Katakana or Hiragana is polite!
For my kanji, you need to type "よう" as "太陽(sun)" and you can find "ka" as it is!
@@harupakajapanese84 陽香 is your Kanji? Not an easy one.
ドイツからのご挨拶。またね。
In the sentence 私はコーヒーが好きです, we use です, but why? Suki is a verb, isn't it? So, I don't get why we use です. Can someone please explain it to me?
Suki is an adjective. Don't ask me why.
It's 好きです not 好きます because you're describing that you like coffee, if there is action mentioned, like "I will drink coffee" you'll use ます、私はコーヒーを飲み "ます。"
1. As a traveler, if I ask, “ do you have a restroom?” According to another UA-cam channel it’s translated as “Toire arimasu ka?”. Is this because “have” is a verb? Or is it because of another reason?
2. Also, why is it Arigato gozaiMASU? Why not Gozaidesu?
Because they are verbs!😉
@@harupakajapanese84 Okay. Thank you.
In summary
For verbs use ます (like -ing in english)
For nouns, adjectives or pronoun use です
Right?
陽香さん、ありがとうございます。Very useful video. In english you would pronounce the en, at the end of bitten like えん。I'm a little confused about 朝ごはんを食べます。When i was trying to come up with the translation i was thinking it would be, "I eat rice in the morning", because i know 朝=morning, ごはん=rice, and 食べます=to eat, but when I put it into google translate to see if I was correct, it translated as, "eat breakfast". According to google translate, 朝ごはん is breakfast. So, is this correct? I know google translate is not always the best.
In Japanise the meals are named after the time when it is eaten and rice is the most common meal ... so
朝ごはん is "Morning rice" = breakfast
昼ご飯 is "noon rice" = lunch
夕ご飯 is "evening rice" = dinner
But there are also other names for the meals
朝食 = 朝ごはん = breakfast
ランチ = 昼ご飯 = lunch
夕食 = 夕ご飯 = dinner
@@SoulAcid1 ありがとうございます。That helps a lot.
So desu is used for nouns and masu is used for verbs?
uu I was close. "Haruka is Japanese" - I said "Haruka-wa nihon kata desu". Was I correct? Can you use 'kata' like this?
What is the negative form of imas
May I know what is e adjective?
WAT?! Since when is は the SUBJECT marker and not the TOPIC marker?
なぜ私が学校にいたときはそのような先生はいなかったのでしょうか
I understand desu but for some reason I don’t understand masu at all I watched the entire video but I still don’t get masu :’)
You can watch it over and over again until it makes sense!😉👍
簡単です。でも、わすれます。
😂😂😂わすれないで!
confusing😕
