They're doing their daughter a disservice by letting her do whatever with no accountability. The world will not care that her parents spoiled and let her run rampant. Until they discipline her, she miraculously mellows out, our she meets her match, she will continue to act the way she does. Of course she is little, but that's when they learn boundaries.

...and her parents probably don't know this, but drinking sugary soda can contribute to a child's lack of concentration and bouncing off the walls/ADHD-like behavior, and it's likely this girl is drinking coke. Hopefully they'll get educated on this soon.

don't over think, there are worse kids and I was even worse even having good parenting but I am not the same. kids are kids, if she won't do these things now then will she do. also it's not about whether it's right or wrong. the only problem here is the mother is overweight but still that is only health related. THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR DAUGHTER DISSERVICE!!!!!!

Maybe they are uncomfortable disciplining her in front of other people.. I know that I feel that way, when I'm out with my nieces and nephew. It's not that I hit them, when no one is looking, or anything, but I still can't discipline them properly with people around. And kids can sense when you're restraining yourself and try to push boundaries.

I think the perfect way for couples to get back in shape is just going on walks with each other! You’re in it together and it’s not too strenuous but you’re actively burning fat. Perhaps less nagging and more encouragement as the wife said could go a long way too. Hopefully they’re both able to build good healthy habits so that they can live a long time and see their child mature, get married, etc. (which btw if i was half as energetic as the kid when younger i wouldve been disciplined…immediately. like climbing onto things or coloring the walls)

Losing weight ain’t easy…requires a change in eating habits….one can spend 24 hrs strenuous exercise a day but with no change in eating behavior is totally useless…to try to have an unreasonable goal wt is attainable but will surely gain it back in no time and worst, times 2 or double the wt…. Best is to change eating habits, lose wt slowly thus one can achieve its goal n be healthy

This sounds nice, but going on walks is not going to burn fat, especially a large amount. That being said, neither is nagging or in encouragement! Its all up to the individual to want to do it... and then going out and actually doing the dieting and exercising. Also, not a good idea to have your significant other be your coach. Only causes resentment.

and they can bring the kid with them, she has a lot of energy and walking can be very tiring for little children. of course, they need to decrease their calorie intake because that's the only way to lose weight, nonetheless, going for a walk is helpful and everyone should try to do it for at least a hour every day.

      2) then after 2 weeks I switched to having a cup of tea in the morning with honey instead of sugar, soda with lunch, 1 snapple for dinner. In between I made sure to drink 8 oz of either ice cold ocean spray cranberry&peach juice diluted 50/50 with water or plain water (I downloaded an app to remind me to drink 8oz every 1-2hrz).
      3) after 4 weeks I started drinking 2 real teas in the morning, snapple for lunch, diluted juice and water thru the day.
      4) by fifth week no soda, no snapple. Diluted juice with meals, ice cold lemon water rest of day.
      5) now I rarely have soda. I drink lots of tea thru the day or water. I still drink diluted juice but not daily. Usually around pms when I'm craving something sweet I'll buy one.
I have soda in my house that came with meal that ended up expired because I no longer crave soda & drink it so rarely. I think it's important to make the change slowly & steadily. I don't think we can chalk it down to just the parents not disciplining, or her getting too much sugar, she looks like she genuinely has a lot of energy and play in her and putting that to better use through a hobby outside the house would give her a focus and the parents some down time.

Children at that young age are seen as more energetic so as long as they are watching over her and not hurting herself then that's fine. As soon as I saw the title I knew she was going to be Mexican. Yes Mexico loves coca cola, many people say it tastes sweeter than American coca cola, but it is also easier and cheaper to get soda than clean water in some rural places. You can literally refill the bottles with soda much like people in American refill water jugs. Why, well because the tap water is in some occasions not safe to drink and bottled water is more expensive in most cases then a bottle of Coke sadly. Remember Mexico is not a developed nation unlike South Korea or the USA.

Besides soda being cheap and tap water being non-drinkable, it’s also part of the culture.
When I go back home, grandparents and aunts don’t ask me « do you want a glass of water? ». Nah, they don’t even ask, they already pour soda in a glass and offer me. Like, imagine being tired and thirsty after travelling and they offer you a super sugary drink that makes you even thirstier lol.
Also, it’s the ignorance of not knowing what soda contains and why it’s so bad. Like, even toddlers ask for soda and children drink them more than natural fruit juices, it’s horrible.
In Latin America it’s all about the sugar. Almost all of our drinks have a lot of sugar. At this point they should be considered desserts. Nah but even if you explain to them, they don’t wanna listen, they stubborn af. « Oh bc you come from the US now you can tell us what to eat and how to do things? » or sm shit like that. Many people know at this point that soda is bad, but they don’t want to acknowledge it.

So as a Mexican let me explain. We do not have access to clean water, like in the US, we have to buy it, we usually have to buy large jugs of water usually 20L to put in a water dispenser, this costs around $60 pesos per jug or $3 US dollars. Now you might think, that's not expensive what is the big deal, but our minimum wage is around $172.87 pesos or $8 dollars a day ( overtime is not paid), not by the hour, and we get paid bi-weekly. Also, we do not have tax returns as in the US. Considering that normally we have to buy 3-4 jugs every two weeks ($240 pesos), for drinking and washing vegetables, with a biweekly check of $2,074.44 pesos before tax ($2,00 after-tax, $4,148.88 a month), and living expenses a month (not so great living conditions)are around $3,500 pesos or $169 dollars, this is quite hard. If with this amount of income and monthly living costs, someone wants to buy 3-4 jugs that they would need, this would only leave $168.88 pesos left or $8.15 dollars. IF the household has children that go to school this would be impossible to do, because even in public schools there is a monthly fee of $250 pesos. A 2L bottle of coke is $10 pesos or around $0.48 dollars, and in neighborhoods, there are small stores where you can take your empty 2L coke bottle to get a new one for only $0.50 pesos, so in reality buying around 2 of the 2L coke bottles is more economic.

It's a deeply ingrained cultural trait, especially among the Chinese and Koreans. I'm sure her Korean co-workers or strangers would comment that she's fat or needs to lose weight. That's how they are. It's not good, but it's difficult to change an entire culture overnight. The husband is not really that bad in comparison.
Healthy meals aren't the issue. The principal reason for her weight gain is her heavy consumption of very sugary Coke. She is a Coke addict! Not only is all that sugar bad for your health, so is all that soda drink - it harms tooth/bone density and health.
"Healthy" meals will make no difference if she continues to drink so much high sugar Coke (or any other high sugar drink, but carbonated sodas are worse for health than high sugar non-soda drinks).
I'm sure it would help if the husband were more supportive and together they addressed the over-consumption of Coke. But don't forget that she has a sugar addiction, and it takes way more effort to overcome a physical and psychological addiction, than just some compliments on how she looks. It's a "doing" process and unless SHE wants to change, it's not going to happen.

If it were my father, she'd never get a bottle of Coke in the house. He would have insisted on buying the food and drink himself, and not allowed her to buy any. She'd have to sneak outside the house and buy and drink Coke in a convenience store, where my father couldn't see.
She should try visiting China - strangers would point out to her she's fat. Or Vietnam - everyone is slim there, while many young people are getting fat in China due to easily available and affordable fast food and snacks, and lack of exercise.
I kind of feel bad for her. But she's on the road to some serious health issues - nor just potential diabetes from all that sugar consumption, but all that soda drink is bad for bone/tooth health. Being fat is less of an issue but if she continues to get fatter (and she's young now, but wait until menopause) she'll have various other health issues that can affect major organs (like heart, liver) etc.

After watching hundreds of clip from korea, ive notice the korean people doesnt have the basic thing of thinking of saying things in a good way, they instead saying things in a harsh way towards their loved one, i really dont like that about the contry.
    TRUE FACT:
Saying stuff in that kind of way is extremly rude and disrespecting but korean people it seems to be a normal thing, if you are over weight, your whole family and all other will say how fat you are and instead of telling people," you love them and wish them to be healthy and not die early, lets lose weight together!" , korean people are like " your fat, stop eating, you need to exerise more" lol
(ive lived in 3 different contries and all had different cultures, so this thing ive just seen from korea)

Yeah that's how Koreans are, very blunt about such things and family members nag and criticize children or spouses a lot. Chinese people are like that too (Japanese are not blunt but they are conformist and quite slim people, and fatness is shamed). They're very conformist cultures.
Not just family but strangers will point out that you're fat or should go on a diet etc.

So it becomes a habit

She gotta be careful In not becoming insulin resistan(pre-diabetic). Also need to visit a psychologist and a nutritian, I notice that she drank soda after a stressful moment which means she can also be doing stress eating. Witch needs to be evaluated to diagnose how stress levels are and see if there’s any signs of Depresion .
Anxiety & stress lead to Depression later on.
And sugar is very addictive. Stay away from those. Eat fruits instead.

As a mexican person, Im sure is not in all the country but in some places is more easy to get coke than water cuase coca cola company is in any place of mexico, but is not more cheaper! Also, like in rural areas in some places when a guest coming you need giving them coke if you give water means you dont respect them or you dont has money is even like social status....
But as i say is in some places cause I born in country side and in that region is not like that, depend on each family and ofcurse if you go to the city there is water but some people like to drink coke, so in conclusion depend on each family and in some places its a custom

I see why she needs the sugar high, her husband nags her all the time about gaining weight using comparison pictures from 10 years ago, her mother-in-law openly dislikes her and criticizes her constantly, and her daughter is a (excuse me but I can’t find better terminology) gremlin who has no discipline whatsoever. I’m not saying she shouldn’t cut down on drinking so much but if I lived in her shoes I’d be smoking newports 5 times a day and I don’t even smoke.

One thing I wanted to mention is that Korean men are unlike other in the world. Being so cute and doing such moves in first meeting would be strange elsewhere.
Many have the addiction to Coke - can be dropped by drinking more water, juices, teas etc. I left mine by using coffee.

I understand the Wife's cola addiction. It was similar in my pacific island too. When we spent school holidays there, our Mother refused to let us drink tap water! We always got sick from tap water. Only one hospital, it was expensive fees/medicines, no car to get to & you would most likely die from complications. Soft drink was cheaper than bottled water, which wasn't popular in 70's and 80's. Much better nowadays.

I think it’s perfectly normal for a husband/wife to tell a wife/husband to lose weight. Especially when it comes to his/her health. Just because you’re afraid to hurt their feelings, you can’t just sit and watch your loved ones ruin their health and lives.
Sometime it’s critical to be butt ass honest.
