I don't endorse divorce but I can't condemn it either. Conservative cultures like Korea forcefully keeps incompatible couples together which is frustrating. Out of the millions of marriages in the world, surely a good chunk of them are just not going to work out, its just statistics. Plus, some guys (especially guys like this one) really need to experience losing someone as goes the saying "You never know what you have until it's gone"
Why did u think like that.. If they are trying to get some solution .. Is it wrong? If it doesn't manage they have to be seperate.. Problem is our solution are always destructive rather than solving.. Look at her.. She is also the product of divorce.. She becomes timid in somewhat way.. This show is also a kind of conceling.. If they try to change what's wrong with that.. The way we promote divorce somewhat is there any commitment towards relationships to at least try to get normal.. Or at least get in relation by having good ligic.. Korea has highest divorce rate actually do u know that.. Bcoz maximum are like becomes Pregnant and then shotgun marriage. Or they stick with person even they show some mindset before marriage.
She's a 'product' of abuse ( mentally, emotionally ). It's sad how people think divorce is not okay but abuse is acceptable. Oppression is not okay and nobody should live in a fear and being disrespectful. I am asian too. If someone disrespectful me and my family, they're out. Period.

favforsue doesn't do much for the wife divorce is a stigma in Korea that only the women seem to bear as well as usually there being no child support and the mother working 2-3 jobs to get the children raised ... thus they put up with this kind of psycholgical abuse along with infidelity and physical abuse

That is not the main problem here. It shouldn't be estimated just from that small issues. He was demeaning towards her and completely shattered her self esteem and confidence. it's a toxic relationship.

fieberries KBS is an entertainment channel and Hello Counselor is a variety show focused on real problems. For really strange cases, they call a psychiatrist but guests coming on the show shouldn't expect a full-blown therapy session and they know that.
sarah lee yes i am well aware of the facts you stated above. But on most cases, a professional help and guidance is needed cause people life a not variety show its their real life. the show has done great by providing platforms for people to solve the problems but everything in this world has room of improvement.
fieberries I soooo agree with you. I feel like the purpose of this whole show is just to get people's attention about unudual things instead of actually caring for the people coming out. I don't know how to explain it with words. It's like these celebrities know that something is off, but they can't ever get a label/name for it. For example, they just say the husband is too harsh, screams too much, etc, but that's not it. They're missing a big picture: this is a serious case of mental and physical abuse. You get me? I feel like Korean society/culture has a long way to go with issues relating abuse(specially men abusing women in a relationship), mental issues, eating disorders, etc. I'm not trying to insult Korea or thid show in any way, because I'm Korean myself, but I live in another country so I get to experience how different cultures stand on different issues
you know that some people hype up their problems and exaggerate it more than what it is to gain votes and finally win the money right? This is not like Dr. Phil where you get therapy, its for entertainment, the shock factor is meant to be there so people will actually watch it.
+Asha Blue And Dr. Phil isn't a real doctor anyway. He's a crackpot without a PHD in psychology. They claim, though, after the show they get the guests therapists, but that's still super shady to me. So basically expose their crap on TV for entertainment, give some good one liners and then ship them for treatment.
I can at least say this show doesn't have that sort of pretense.

I've been watching this particular episode many times, and I still don't understand the husband's idea of belittling his wife and her father especially. But what made me got so pumped up and also laugh so hard is that beside her father, there are 2 other people from Chungcheong province area on the stage, actually standing up, and both of them are on tiger and lion anger mode from 7:16 until 7:40 .
By the way, does anybody know that rock guitar tune it came from? Or probably it's from the series music insert?

It's funny watching this episode. Like I was watching my family's problems aired in tv 😅 the husband and wife literally how my dad and mom lives. It feels horrible to have 'father' like him. Now I'm waiting for the time to leave the house. I just couldn't stay any longer, living under the same rooftop with horrible person like my dad

i hate it when people bring parents into this stuff, my mum had to endure 20 years of abuse because if they spilt up nobody want me as the daughter. My in-laws would compare me to my parents and it would make me unwanted for marriage and stuff like that. My mothers friend split up after 23 years of marriage and when they were in court, her ex-husband pretty much insulted her parents and her. Btw he was living with her at her parents house.
