After dealer opened pan to find metal fragments, they "suspected" early stages of transmission failure & wanted $6,500 for new transmission (cost me over $500 for "diagnostics"). I had them put new fluid in so I could drive it to a local transmission shop. There was no longer an error indicated & local transmission shop could not see any problems. They recommended I continue driving & watch for changes or high RPMs. So far so good, but I checked new prices for same vehicle & they are $90,000+!! The sticker price on mine was $51,000 in 2017. I have had 4 silverados and an old custom delux Chevy and found them to be dependable wirk horses. the last three was 2013 Z71, 2019 crew cab Z71 and I just purchased a 2024 LT 4x4. I have not had any problems with any of the last three. I would not hesitate to purchase more in the future. Common sense maintenance and they will run forever.
I own a RWD 2021 Silverado with the 3.0 inline 6 Duramax and 10 speed transmission. It's rated at 33mpg highway and can easily achieve that at 70mph. It has the same torque (460), as the top dog 6.2 V8; only it reaches that 460 point at only 1500 rpm. That low end torque, and only 277 HP will stay with a Ram 5.7 hemi in the 0-60 stoplight run. I have nothing but praise for the vehicle. I don't care about the latest interiors and gadgets. Performance and efficiency rule the day!
owned chevy trucks for a long time..recently traded my 2018 silverado crewcab for 2023 silverado crewcab...new one may have additional electronic s, but does not have the "cigarette lighter"--HUGE mistake by GM...also, the "AUTO STOP" is annoying as hell..!!! it can be disabled after you start the vehicle...not having a key is also a HUGE thumbs down...the 2018 had the best average miles driven + the current miles per gallon...best I got on the 2018 was 35.5 miles per gallon (highway)...5.3v8 engine is best by far.
I've always been a G.M. guy until now, and coming to that realization was difficult. I purchased a brand new '22 GMC 2500 quad cab SLT, 6.6 gas. I really loved that truck until the transmission started acting up after a couple hundred miles (super hard first to second shift, and shuddering.) I took the truck to the dealership multiple times until 13,000 miles, and i demand they look at it. They basically thought i was full of s**t until they pulled the transmission pan, and found metal fragments. They basically rebuilt the transmission free of charge which mind you took 30 days. Shortly after receiving the truck with transmission rebuilt it started to do what it was doing before. The Service Manager's response to this was to attempt to "blow up" the transmission to get a completely new one from G.M. Took the loss on a truck with 15,000 miles on it. I then purchased a 2023 Silverado RST quad cab. At 6100 miles the new 10 speed is shuddering. My question is, can they even build a reliable transmission any more? I guess it'll be a Dodge next time.
@adamhutto1660 Ford seems to be having good luck with there's. I planned on getting the extended warranty for piece of mind on the Toyota . Toyotas warranty is priced fairly and it comes with scheduled msintance as well . GM warranties are expensive compared to Toyota , atleast here in Canada
@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806 I wasn't aware of that issue . I know toyota had issues in the 2022 model tundra's but thought they had fixed those issues . Thanks for the information
Bought a 2024 Silverado w/3.0 Duramax and crankshaft issue of too much play at 5000 miles. Thinking of switching to Ford Powerstroke F250. Guy at truck rental place said nothing but problems with new chevys and rams but newer powerstrokes have been solid.
I drive a large variety of vehicles and currently own a 24 1500 and a 24 2500 silverado ,with no complaints. This bias narrator isn't educated about the topic he picked for discussion And did not do research to support his blog
Had 2021 1500 and had zero issues, upgraded to the 2024 2500 6.6 gas and my radio doesnt work 85% of the time it just doesnt turn on; wipers stop occasionally upright while in use and 4x4 didnt work and now the transmissions is leaking all over my driveway and you have to make an appointment for a visual inspecttion(no touch) to then have warranty cover the part being ordered and then wait 2-3weeks for that part to come in to then make another appointment(2-3 weeks) to finally get the truck serviced and lets not forget the best part is they dont even have a dipstick to check the fluid level. Unless you crawl under while its level and fill the little fill hole on the side of the transmission untill it spills out all over to know if its got fluid(steer clear)
I am wanting to buy a new HD truck, but cannot decide what to buy. I hear horror stories about all three of them. It’s like pick your poison. I just want a reliable truck I won’t regret buying, and I just don’t know which to buy. I would appreciate honest opinions on which one would I not regret? Because it seems to be bad no matter which way you go.
Asking for opinions on youtube? Please. Everyone is the best mechanic, everyone has their own opinions and everyone will tell you horror stories about the brands they don't like. Ask a few people you know - but asking strangers on youtube? Shit, just read some of the moronic comments from assholes on here who think they know-it-all. Grow a pair of balls and make a decision.
I just traded in my 2014 RAM 1500 for a 2024 1500 RST 5.3 V8 4 days ago. Although I was sad to see her go, I am so far liking my new Chevy! My Ram had just got 100k miles, and ended up having a tic that got louder. Ended up being the lifter on the cam shaft. I decided to let her go instead of repair. Got the 100k/10year extended warranty. Took me almost 10 years to put 100k on the last one, so I hope I'm good. Different dealers tried selling me on the 4 cylinder. Sorry. I may be a girl, but I know a few things. Lol. 4 cylinders do NOT belong in full sized trucks! I want a Kodiak someday, but for now, this one will do just fine!
2024 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax LTZ here. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! Limp mode and dashboard lights at 200 miles. Happened several times after. Software update from dealer, hard shifting. 2200 miles, transmission leaking. This model year is a LEMON! DO NOT BUY! This thing has and MSRP of $87K! The dealer can give 2 craps about it.......The worst purchase of my life
@@joshdavila87 Thanks for asking. It has been to the dealership 2 more times for the same issue. It is still leaking, not heavily, but still leaking. I have grown tired of the almost part-time job of dealing with this issue. The last visit said the leak was residue. It wasn't, as the problem is still there. Needing to escalate to legal action. I have given them all the attempts to fix becuase I really like this truck otherwise. I was assigned a GM rep that hasn't done much / anything. GM can care less about the issue. Sad. Customers with lemons are left without help it seem unless a legal route.
@@fit4ya1975 They know I contacted corporate and had a rep assigned. That rep was worthless and did very little. That Corp. Rep. was overworked and probably about to quit. The dealership could careless about it. No one cared about it. A repair was performed, leaking continues and only recource now is legal. Shame! GM sucks. Horrible experience to be left without help from the brand to solve the problem. That is how things are now. Transmission shifts horrribly by the way.
I have owned three Silverados over the last twenty years with a Dodge in between. Put over 120000 miles on each Silverado. No problems. The dodge went through three motors in the first 18000 miles.
I will never ever touch Ford. RAM 1500, #1 and GMC, 2. Yes, none is perfect, but Ford is quantity not quality. My bud owns 22 High Country and loves it. NO ISSUES.

@@Kwall4life You can say that about 80% of the semi-trucks on the road as well as the lifters that may fail in a V8. If your fuel pump, fuel injector, radiator, alternator, etc. fail you have the same issue. Where does that mindset end?
GM’s current 2.7HO engine is their most reliable engine, which is why they upped the basic warranty from 5 year 60k miles to 5yr/100k miles.. It’s very reliable. Not an easy sale, when you’ve lived your life wt mainly V8’s, believe me I know. With 430 ft/lbs of torque, my ‘22 pulls hard off the line and tows my 7000lb camper amazingly.
Just vought a brand new 2023 LT Silverado 3 weeks ago. Has the new interior and big infotainment setup. Truck is beautiful inside. 2.7L 4 Cyl actually has more torque than Ford v6 model. Also no other brand has the multi flex tailgate that I have. You left out some key information. RAM has that "eTorque" on their V6 adn the HEMI. They're having massive issues with them. Almost bought a RAM the day before I bought my Silverado. Dealer even let me take it home overnight. RAM did away with the alternator and went to a generator to charge the 48V battery pack. This is purely for fuel economy and emissions. I have a friend that's been a RAM master tech for years. Lots of eTorque failures and 2-3 months on backorder for replacement. Also, it's only covered for 36k miles. Yep, not covered under powertrain. RESEARCH IT. Also the RAM I test drove had a really dinky 4" screen for the radio. No remote start either, for a $45,000 truck? Scored my 23 silverado on year end clearance. Sticker was $56,000....I paid $43,600 with 100k mile warrnaty. Drive the 4 cyl in the silverado, its a very good motor. Traded my 2019 2.7 in for the 2023.
I leased a Ford 150 and didn't have it for 6 months .It drove like a piece of junk Bought a 2023 Chevy and love it The chevy drives like a car .Very smooth and handles great
Wonder if they fixed the AC problem my because my 2014 Silverado it went out 3 times and I finally just sold it because I was tired of dumping money into something that kept breaking
I owned a 3.5L F150 and hated it, had it a year and traded it in for a GMC with 5.3L Vortec...MPGs are about the same but better performance. I will say I miss the power lift gate on the F150, my denali doesn't have it : /
I've never own a ford passed the warranty period. 16 Mustang GT PP. transmission started to howl. 6.0 super duty. Lemon law suit buy back. The wife really likes the 2 door Bronco. Even now that ford dealers aren't getting markups I said no way. I pointed her to all of the quality issues plus our own history with ford and the crappy dealerships in the small city we live in. San Diego btw. Lol Good luck with ford in an actual small city or county. 😂
I have a new '23 silvy custom with the 2.7 turbo. I can't get more than 19mpg and I baby it, 5,100 miles. Now the transmission, after sitting overnight, when I drive first to second takes as much time to shift while you just read that. I don't think it's normal. The dealer will just tell me to hump sand if I take it in. OTHERWISE it's a pretty peppy truck.
I have a 2023 Silverado LT 2.7T and I'd say I average about 19 miles per gallon. I've seen it as high as 26 miles per gallon when trips are at lower speeds. On the highway I think about 19-21. When pulling a 1k pound enclosed cargo trailer I get about 14 miles gallon, but the trailer is not aerodynamic at all. When pulling a ~2.2k pound boat, I seem to get around 12 miles to the gallon. I love my truck.
I had the 2022 silverado Lt but give me stress to much promblem get clunking in the back now get Vibration if 60mph if you press more acceleration more vibration and noisy😢

The sound system was better ,it was easier to use ,my cup holders are on the opposite side of console now because of that stupid shifter (like the column better) Digital crap instead of analog gauges. So now when mine gets to about 175 deg. It tells me the engine is running hot, and the a/c is turned off. Then it shuts off my temp gauge. This is by far the dumbest thing i have ever seen on any vehicle. Well, other than the afm lifters.
No issues at all with my 2024 Silverado. Things aren’t perfect? Show me a vehicle that is. Let’s not forget this is a Truck not a Cadillac. The turbo 4 is awesome.
I had to replace my truck this past year due to a Fentanyl user who crossed into my lane. I’ve had Ford, Chevy, and Dodge in the past but due to the big 3 bowing to all the government regulations I ended up going Toyota this time. And yes I know Toyota has also bowed starting with the 2022 Tundra and 2024 Tacoma. But at least they held off a while. The AFM in Chevys and Dodges similar systems killed this brands for me. Friends spending 5k to rebuild the top end of their engines with less than 50k on the OD.
The new touch screen radio is absolute garbage. Controls are slow and it stops putting out sound at random times. I have to reboot in safe mode every few days.
Bought my first full sized truck,a 2022 Silverado with the 420hp 6.2 liter engine. Loved the truck until...24,000 miles, at that point it needed a new engine. GM is the second car manufacturer to make a disposable engine, the first manufacturer was the $3500 Yugo! They currently have a class action lawsuit for customers with the same issues you can google it.They have ordered a new engine for me but it could be defective also.I don't trust this manufacturer anymore, they make beautiful junk.
Do not disable the autostop/start. It is tied into the starter and if you keep it off every time you drive it will power out and you will not be able to start it. I just gave a guy a jumped and when I saw him later he told me about it as the dealer told him. Another useless thing because of Government regulations

Tell me that you can't get a good deal with Chevy and I'll call you a liar! My truck is the best car/truck purchase I've ever made in 35 years so buying a new car or truck!
I need to ask questions brother
@@elvisortiz358 What's up?
@@elvisortiz358 I got a 2024 Silverado 1500 LT, Crew Cab, Standard Bed 6'.6",
4WD, 3.0 Duramax Diesel, Summit White, Convenience Package II, Protection Package, Safety Package with HD Surround Vision. There's not another one in Chevy's inventory like this one available. You would have to upgrade to a LTZ or High Country and pay another 8K, if I'm not mistaken. I thank God for this deal. If I can answer a question, I will.
I have this same Chevy but the 5.3 all the bells and whistles you mentioned! I got mine with a 6” uplift and 35s on 20” Fuels. I love this truck, prolly overpaid a tad compared to my 2020 Trail Boss but I love the 10 speed and cameras.
I just bought a 2024 Silverado 2500hd today. Love it so far. Love the looks.
I traded a 2020 Silverado LTZ for a 2023 Lariat and I totally regret it
Is there anyway possible you can go back to an LTZ? I think Chevy has some deals going right now.
Do you like the ford better?
Thats FORD
@@phillipbaker2082 I've thought about it but I think I would stand to lose a lot of money due to depreciation. I guess I don't dislike it enough to pay more money to get back into a Silverado.
@@andysamsung3140 understand, it could be an upside down situation for you. Just keep it for a few years and than maybe something will work out for you to get back into the truck you want.
I got a 2024 with the LZ0, LT Trailboss and i absolutely love this truck. No regrets
owned chevy trucks for a long time..recently traded my 2018 silverado crewcab for 2023 silverado crewcab...new one may have additional electronic s, but does not have the "cigarette lighter"--HUGE mistake by GM...also, the "AUTO STOP" is annoying as hell..!!! it can be disabled after you start the vehicle...not having a key is also a HUGE thumbs down...the 2018 had the best average miles driven + the current miles per gallon...best I got on the 2018 was 35.5 miles per gallon (highway)...5.3v8 engine is best by far.
I have a 2020 RST crew cab. I would kept the 18 all day. CD player, bigger seats, to name a few.
Perhaps try a Toyota tundra .
I ordered mine after issues with my 2023 silverado.
GM dosen't care about its loyal customers
@@robqwertyuipp8750, that twin turbo V-6 makes me nervous.

Ford seems to be having good luck with there's.

Toyotas warranty is priced fairly and it comes with scheduled msintance as well .
GM warranties are expensive compared to Toyota , atleast here in Canada

Bought a 2024 Silverado w/3.0 Duramax and crankshaft issue of too much play at 5000 miles. Thinking of switching to Ford Powerstroke F250. Guy at truck rental place said nothing but problems with new chevys and rams but newer powerstrokes have been solid.
I drive a large variety of vehicles and currently own a 24 1500 and a 24 2500 silverado ,with no complaints. This bias narrator isn't educated about the topic he picked for discussion And did not do research to support his blog
I have one as well 2024 2500 also and love it no complaints
Sounds like you are trying to validate a bad purchase. Give it time!
No V6.
That’s not a truck.
Less than a year old truck and no complaints? I sure hope so
Had 2021 1500 and had zero issues, upgraded to the 2024 2500 6.6 gas and my radio doesnt work 85% of the time it just doesnt turn on; wipers stop occasionally upright while in use and 4x4 didnt work and now the transmissions is leaking all over my driveway and you have to make an appointment for a visual inspecttion(no touch) to then have warranty cover the part being ordered and then wait 2-3weeks for that part to come in to then make another appointment(2-3 weeks) to finally get the truck serviced and lets not forget the best part is they dont even have a dipstick to check the fluid level. Unless you crawl under while its level and fill the little fill hole on the side of the transmission untill it spills out all over to know if its got fluid(steer clear)
I love my 2024 Silverado with the 4 cylinder Turbomax engine..
I have one that's 3 years old...Great truck.
The comments make clicking on this video worthwhile!
Its amazing that no matter how much more fuel efficient they try to make trucks these days its not making much difference with mpg.
Yeah. Only making them less reliable!
Get a Duramax. Don’t get a power stroke. Lots of reliability issues.

I like my 2024 Z71 Texas Edition
This robot has never seen any brand of truck!
Most these issues can be addressed with tuning since GM has to much converter slip witch can prematurely cause transmission replacement
I agree about the adaptive cruse control. Mine slams on the brakes if the road changes colors or if sudden change in lighting occurs.
Yes Chevy is a little behind but compare prices for the same trims in Ford AND Ram. $10000 to $20000 more than Chevy
Nah chevys 3.0 diesel is a game changer. Ford has nothing to compete. Period.
Maybe the revised one . Had a lot of problems with the last generation@@HomesteaderJake

I know it sounds silly. I have one, I think it's a great engine.

2024 Silverado LT 2.7 turbo
I’m getting 24-28mpg on highway and roughly 20mpg city
Do u like it?
Mine has 13k miles on it a the heater is acting up. Still under warranty.
I've got the turbo 4 and get 12.5 avg and not that I drive hard I literally work 1.8 miles away
