I'm all in on GM right now and love this truck, I agree with those who argue the seats need to be more comfortable, thats certainly noticeable over similar models from other makers... but I don't care enough to change brands. We will see in 5 or 10 years, but for right now it's 100% GM for my money.

I just purchased a 2024 LTZ and love it so far. Would have liked the 3.0l but they weren’t discounted quite as much so got the 5.3l. It’ll still do everything I need. In Texas, at least near me most dealers have over 100+ silverados and are discounting them heavily. Neither ford or ram are discounting nearly as much and Toyota is Toyota with pricing

The 6.2 threw a piston out the engine block. My work Chevy Tahoe has a lifter(s) issues now too. You say lifter issues is not that big… but 100% of my GM vehicles with AFM, have had the issue. Overall quality of GM is GARBAGE these days. I used to be a huge fan of GM.

I own a '20 Silverado LT, 5.3 crewcab, shortbed. The only issue I had was the ECM, which I ultimately replaced($499 part,$500programming). I cannot knock the truck too much as overall it runs well. I go 1/2 on the maintenance so flushed the transmission at 33K, oil at 3.5K, radiator at 40K, rear diff at 35K. Brakes are good but about to flush brake lines. And yes, the seats could be a bit softer on a longer ride. However, I am not selling it.

Another good review Tim. I had a 2018 F150 Lariat Sport lease and moved to a 2021 Silverado LTZ at lease end. 2 immediate observations. 1) The Silverado just felt like a more substantial vehicle. This was likely partially due to steel vs aluminum panels, but the Silverado just felt more planted. 2) The seats on the Chevy were just not as comfortable as the F150. This was surprising and something that GM needs to address. Oh, one other thing. The F150 had the 2.7 twin turbo engine. Fastest truck I’ve ever owned, but the turbo lag was a concern when pulling out into busy traffic. I don’t have that issue with the 5.3 in the LTZ. Keep up the good work!

To be fair, I have had 2 of the 3.0 liter diesels, a 21 RST with the LM2, 21,500 miles at trade in and ZERO oil usage, I now have a 24 ZR2 with the LZ0 and 4000 miles on it with ZERO oil usage so far, as far as DEF, if working properly it should use 2%-3% of fuel used, if you are towing you are using more fuel and DEF usage will go up commensurately. When you get the 6.2 you run a greater than normal risk of lifter failure due to DFM, and lately spun bearings on the mains have been occuring. You just gotta pick your poison, but I believe if broken in properly the 3.0 liter diesel can be a great engine. IMHO/YMMV

Tim, all I know is the 3.0 diesel is DAF. It was designed to fail. The crappy baby diesel has torque like a big V8. GM should have gave it a 100 ft. lbs more torque and then everyone would have wanted one.
PS. 22 inch rims are almost as stupid as the 3.0 diesel.

@@wantsanewvehicle The 6.2L does have it but I will admit it is more "robust" than the 5.3L. I'm aware of this issue because it happened to my Dad's GMC Sierra about two years ago. He only had 138,000'ish miles on it and all of the compenents went on the motor that I described (and some I forgot) and it cost him $7,000 in 2021. I cannot imagine what it costs now with Bidenflation.
He did tell me in conversation he was told the 6.2L has the issue but it tends to come later do to as they said the parts being "more robust". I'm assuming it is due to the additional power and torque of the motor.
What is really said is my younger brother is driving his family around in the 2001 Suburban we all grew up in that has the 5.3L V8 and has almost 400,000 miles now on it. The 2007-Present 5.3L is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.
