  • In this look at an entry to the cross body armbar (Juji Gatame) from mount, focus a staying heavy on uke's arm to trap it and lower the risk of escape.
There are dozens of entries into juji. This is one that works even for beginners and will help build a strong foundation for later variations.
    The main keys are:
    1. Control the shoulder with a strong, deep grip
    2. Pressure on uke's elbow with your chest
    3. Lean head towards uke's leg so your leg becomes lighter, and so easier to step over the head
    4. Strong squeeze with your legs on the shoulder with your hand still in. This creates a very strong pressure.
    5. Depending on how uke is defending, take the arm north or south to get the extension, not straight back.
