- Tasting the 2023 release of Remus Gatsby Reserve, a 15-year-old cask strength bourbon from Ross & Squibb (MGP) which seems now to be an annual release. I talk about pricing and give my thoughts on whether this bottle lives up to the premium SRP, plus there's a small discussion regarding the impact of glassware towards the end of the video.

Paid $185 today and can’t wait to pop it. I’ve had the Remus V, which averages out to about the same age (maybe a little less). I’d pay $185 for a bottle of that, so I figured this one has to be worth at least as much. But, I also enjoy lower proof more than the hazmat. On a side note, great tip about glassware, thank you so much!

Have had a few bottles or release 1. After watching this I will be looking for the 2023 batch. I prefer a higher proof but really liked the 1st batch.

I’ve seen this bourbon for $279 in Illinois at our big box store Binny’s. That’s over $300 after tax! Hard pass for me. I passed on all the Wild Turkey LEs I came across as well. I put all my end of the year resources (money and connections) towards a George T Stagg and E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof. I paid up a little, but it was worth it! Thanks for the review. It sounds interesting and perhaps I’ll get a pour at a bar. Your reviews are always well done.
Appreciate the through review. I found this online $230, that's a pass for me. As a scotch drinker first this sounds right up my alley. But like you said $150-$170 is more appropriate.
Good video review! My question is not is it worth $200+ because everything is subject to whiskeyinflation, but do you regret the purchase after sampling it.
I could have got this yesterday and went with the Remus Repeal. The Gatsby was there alone at the allocated event and nobody bought it. Wish I grabbed it.
Wanted a bottle of this. Was able to try at the Century Bar in Dayton. All I got was perfume and floral notes. Easy pass for me.
If you take value out of the equations then it’s definitely a buy.
Does this have the classic bourbon acetone note?
Passed on this bottle twice after seeing this review. Big mistake, glad I pulled the trigger, worth every penny @$200. Higher proof would be nice, but it doesn’t disappoint
In retrospect, I may have been overly critical based on price, and not even realistically. Sometimes I look back and regret some of my reviews, and this one would be up there. Ugh!
I reviewed this years and last years much preferred last years bottle and both are good but not worth msrp

No not to me no whiskey is worth more than 150. If they are more I won’t be drinking them.
