  • In this episode we visit El Malpais National Monument in New Mexico. While here we explore the Sandstones Bluff Overlook, La Ventana Arch and we hike the Lava Falls Trail. We visited on Nov 16th, 2023 and the weather was perfect!
🏞️ El Malpais National Monument is a fascinating place located in western New Mexico, known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes. Its name comes from the Spanish term "Malpaís," which means "badlands" - a fitting description for this rugged and desolate area.
El Malpais National Monument is a great place to visit for anyone interested in geology, history, or just exploring a unique and beautiful landscape. There are many things to do in the park, including hiking, camping, and spelunking.
⛺While in the area we stayed in Bluewater Lake State Park Campground (Site 14) that sits just over an hour outside of the El Malpais NM.

Nice landscape! Amazing what wind and water can do to rock, over time.
pretty sure I would have knocked over a cairn or two as I rambled through the landscape!

Nah, you wouldn't have knocked them over, but they were easy to miss! We had to stop and look around a couple of times to get back on the trail!

Thanks for watching! The funny thing is, Heather actually does have a background in teaching!

So are you guys! We enjoy every episode and look forward to similar adventures in our new Bigfoot. Maybe you will plan to attend the Bigfoot rally in British Columbia this summer!!

The rally sounds great, but unfortunately, we don't think we will have time this year to make it to British Columbia. You'll have to let us know how it goes!

I kinda figured Heather had a teaching background. If I had to guess, I would say there is some engineering experience at play as well.
