Super photography. 👍🥰 Canyonlands is a gorgeous gem. So different than The Blue Ridge Parkway which I explored today. Our USA Park system is phenomenal.
You are so right, it is a magical place. I first visited in 1992, camping in Moab... when Moab was a lovely, unspoilt little outback adventure town. Again in 1994, hiking and camping throughout Canyonlands. Again in 2002, when I drove down the Shafer trail and spent 2 days driving and camping the White Rim Trail, really special place too ! Those snow topped mountains are the La Sals, just East of Moab. Loved your vid guys, took an old timer Englishman through lots of memories of my visits, so thankyou.
Oooooh you guys did the sunrise at Mesa Arch, knowing how much you like to avoid crowds I wondered if you'd have done it or not. Such a shame about the cloud but your shots of the La Sal mountains through it with the snow on top were beautiful! Your map at 7:18 🤣🤣 But that's a good hike, a good old exploration!! As you say, the view where you turned around was so cool! The green river overlook gets me every time, so stunning! Can't believe you guys drove in and out of the park in 1 day. We found the drive between Moab and the Park to feel like it took forever! I loved this video so much, brought back such lovely memories from 2019! I am insanely Excited for Arches!!! 😁😁😁
Even with the clouds and cold, the sunrise was worth it! Love that softer light in the mornings and it helped us beat the crowds at other spots! Our map looked like it was drunk hiking hahaha, it was so messed up looking! I think the Green River overlook was my favorite! Love the mix of canyons and river there! And that drive is definitely not the shortest haha, but I think after some of the long rough drives we had elsewhere, we were just thankful for paved roads!
Wow, so vast and magnificent! It makes my heart glad to see so much land that is un"developed" and unspoiled. And your camera and video work keeps getting better and better! Those slow, panned zoomed-in shots were incredible.
Dude, this makes me so excited to get to Canyonlands! It looks breathtaking. I have two parks left to visit in Utah. I'm obsessed with y'all's vlogs. You travel like I like to, except I couldn't keep up with y'all on hikes, I'm sloooooooow and steady. I can't stop binging LOL

Great video! Am planning on a trip to Utah in the fall and that's how I found you guys - you've been SO helpful in the planning process. Definitely adding Canyonlands to my list - thank you!! Plus, you guys are really fun to watch and so positive...love it! Keep up the great work! :)
Wow the rock formations and colors are just incredible. I cannot wait to visit Southern Utah. All the hikes looked amazing. So cool! And the pizza looked awesome as well! Beautiful sunset!
Great job highlighting the Island in the Sky! You guys did so much in one day, as usual. We have really enjoyed watching all of your Utah adventures so far. Your hard work really shows in all of the videography, gimble work, graphics, music and seamless editing you do. Looking forward to seeing the fun to come at Arches & the Needles. 👍😊
Heading back to Canyonlands in 2 weeks. One of my favorite parks. I drove down Schafer canyon road to where it levels out and back up in my minivan! I do have high clearance and off road tires. I loved it.

When I went in March, I went to Grand View Point trail first and ended my day at Mesa Arch. It was a great sunset, and only three photographers. Winds were fierce midday when I was on Whale Rock and the Upheaval Dome Overlook. I'm seriously considering moving to the Salt Lake area to be closer to these sites and other western National Parks. Thanks for the videos and I'm looking forward to your Arches and Needles adventures. Lots of great camping sites around there.
The winds out there are nuts! We weren't sure if they were normal or not, but we had really crazy wind everyday in Moab. Salt Lake would be a great place to live to be close to so many spots!
Thank you for your video! We currently in Utah. Your videos have been a great help for us. Just visited Capital Reef National Park over the weekend. This weekend we are in a campground near Moab. I we definitely trying the pizza!!! Safe travels.
Have a great time in the Moab area! We also love Thai Bella, Quesadilla Mobilla, Doughbird, and Moab Garage Co! Those will be in some of our future videos 😋
Milt's is a great place to get a burger the next time you're in Moab. I love your videos! One of my favorite channels to research for my photography trips!
Only recently found your channel and really Love it! You have a great blend of "letting us get to know you" with great travel information. We're heading out west in a few months and the last state we're going to hit is Utah. Your videos have been terrific in helping us focus in on those places to see and the things to do. You've also made us hungry, on occasion with your pie reviews, Yum!
Sunset was beautiful. Pizza looks so yum . If you guys enjoy petroglyphs then you can check birthing rock ( recently vandalised but yet not much ) and newspaper rock. This are very close to canyon lands and roads to these places are thrilling. Take care ❤️
Adam and Katherine have a sunset spot! What an epic, poetic, and dreamy vlog! Sorry the sunrise didn't cooperate with you at Mesa Arch. I enjoyed all the views...I'm living vicariously through you guys right now! Also the pizza looked amazing!!! Sorry this comment is so disjointed...it's late now and my brain is fried.
When we did Mesa Arch we were in among 50 other tripods at the front line, literally. There were another 50 people who forgot their tripods standing behind us. But we got our iconic photos. Awesome!
We are going to Moab this weekend! You guys gave us some great ideas!!! We will definitely be trying some of your recommendations 😊. I may just binge watch a ton of your videos now lol.
Oh man, the wind was brutal everyday in Moab. Be prepared for lots of subtitles to come. Our microphone is usually so good, but couldn't handle it haha. Thankfully this was the last cold day we have had!
We visited this Island of the sky in 2018 in full summer.. honestly the summer was horrible there; but a different kinda vibe.. Thanks for reminding us the wonderful memories.
No.. it was really less crowded.. Our most horrible experience was horseshow bend at 110°F in august'18. We are from the hot part of India where 105 is such a common thing; but the heat on desert was really really horrible
@@AdventuresofAplusK That's true.. Actually we just came to this country that time; had no idea about that horrible weather. But so far it was a good visit.
I have really been enjoying your library. My son and I did the canyon thing several years ago but we didn't make it to Canyonlands or Arches. I'm looking forward to going back. I like the food thing you incorporate but please consider adding a separate playlist for 'FOODS BY STATE' so the food places will be faster to find! Thanks.
My family loves Canyonlands! We did the Grand View Hike with my boys (ages 5 and 8). It was nerve wracking to be so high up. My husband and I kept having dreams of falling off of cliffs that night. 😂
Hi Betty! You can find all of our gear on this blog post on our website! adventuresofaplusk.com/our-must-have-hiking-gear/ Hope that helps and thank you for watching!
"Here we are at M-M-M-Monument Arch, s-s-so freak-k-king c-c-cold..." That last shot....Kathryn Scissorhands.... Canyonlands is amazing. When we go to Moab, we want to do Arches / Canyonlands then swing down to Monument Valley (but we'll wait until Navajo Nation is open). I can't quite understand why Arches gets four times the visitors as Canyonlands. Sure, in Arches you're visiting the Utah license plate, but all you need do is cross the highway and BAM! you're in another awesome national park (with a quick State Park side trip to see where Thelma and Louise tried to fly a car; can you glimpse the wreckage from above, or....?)
It is such a great park! We really enjoyed the shorter hikes here, it was a nice break! Arches is a madhouse (well, all of Moab is to be fair) and while we loved it, we loved Canyonlands (and Dead Horse Point) too!
Sir that was some next level panoramic shots .... totally NatGeo level. The iconic desert mountais of Utah are totally crazy.Felt like myself standing at Grand Viewpoint. Thanks for showing this.Notice how u inserted distance in kms as subtitles for international audience. 👍🏻
Awesome video of the Canyonlands! We wanted to make it to Mesa Arch for sunrise and just couldn't get to it (we did Dead Horse and it was pretty amazing). I wanted to die in Canyonlands so that my ghost could haunt it forever. I just loved it that much. The Upheaval Dome hike was so dope, and all those overlooks were just insane with the vast canyon views. We ended up renting a Jeep and going down the Shafer Canyon switchbacks and doing a section of the White Rim Road because, like, how do you see something like that and NOT go down it?
Those spots are so amazing aren’t they?! Dead Horse was super cool too! We wish we could’ve done White Rim Road and Shafer Canyon! Maybe we’ll rent a Jeep next time! Thanks for watching!
Love it! So many views they all start to blend together...lol. My wife and I took jus our 10 year old to Moab 2 years ago this month so this is bringing back great memories. We didn't get to Canyonlands but we did go to Dead Horse State Park and mountain biked along the canyon there. Looks very similar.
Hi! What month were you guys out there. We are planning for early March but concerned about the weather. Thanks for sharing such informative videos -very helpful for planning our family adventures!
Hey! This video was filmed in May '21. Check out our website where we have detailed guides to all 5 of Utah's National Parks. We also have a Utah National Park road trip itinerary/guide adventuresofaplusk.com/utah-national-parks-road-trip-itinerary/ adventuresofaplusk.com/category/utah/
Next time you are there, rent a jeep in town and go down the Shafer Trail and out Potash Road. Easy drive, LOTS of stunning views, and you will find out how insignificant you are when you look up and see how large the rock formations are, and you aren't even down at the river.
My wife and I live in Utah and have been on a 9 day trip to Capitol Reef , Arches , Bryce , Canyonlands, and Dead Horse Point. Your channel inspired us to get out and go on a National Park tour. So thank you ! Katherine what is the Orange tracker you wear on your pack ? Thanks for the videos !
Oh that’s so awesome to hear! We love that we were able to help or inspire in any way! All of those places are so amazing, huh?! That is the Garmin InReach Mini! adventuresofaplusk.com/our-must-have-hiking-gear/
Great Video... Wondering what time of year you were out there? I'm going next week May 17th -24th and wondering what to pack? I'm from Florida so the heavy winter coat for the morning is something I didn't think of... I am a photographer and I want to hit the sunrise and sunset spots(like everyone).. so having your insight would be advantageous... thanks again... Love your work!
Top notch (as always)! That was a magical day at Canyonlands. It’s funny, my memory of this park is just meh. However, the video you shot was anything but meh. Granted I visited here when I was 12 or 13. Young and dumb, I suppose. The landscapes you showcased were drop dead gorgeous and your composition of shots was excellent. Would Dead Horse Point SP be a good substitute if you are short on time and still want a similar experience? That pizza looked amazing. I am bookmarking that for future reference.
Thanks Michael! While we definitely enjoy parks where we can get away from humans more, the views here were pretty incredible! Dead Horse Point is a great substitute! Especially for sunset!
For movie buffs; Thelma and Louise Point (Fossil Point), is where they went off the canyon ledge (not the Grand Canyon as suggested ion the film). The point can be seen from the main (last) overlook at Dead Horse State Park. Or, you can take the Shafer Trail (near Island in the Sky at Canyonlands) down in the canyon for a "selfie". Traveling the Shafer Trail; a passenger car can make it down to the point; but a higher clearance vehicle will be necessary if you plan to ride all the way to the potash facility at the bottom (where it meets up with the road that goes to the Corona Arch lot, and back to Moab). Personally; I've seen passenger vehicles ride on down; but I wouldn't risk my sedan (my Rav4 and 4Runner have worked fine).
Moab is cool. I need to revisit it again. I messed up my hike to Druid Arch. Also want to see Dead Horse State Park. What program do you use to make your maps?
Hey what’s up guys me and my girlfriend love your videos thank you guys for always posting so the question we wanted to know is if we can’t get the day permit for the wave do you think Moab is a good alternative or something else
Kanab could be a great area too! You could visit White Pocket, which requires 4x4 or a tour to get out to, but our friends LOVED it and we hear it's a great Wave alternative! But honestly anywhere in Southern Utah would be amazing to visit, it just wouldn't be the same look as the Wave. Wire Pass to Buckskin Gulch is a great spot that shares a trailhead with the Wave (that was one of our first videos from Utah) and the Escalante area has TONS of cool stuff to explore too!
@@AdventuresofAplusK oh oh yea I seen some alternative choices but wasn’t sure on those recommendations but ok great thanks keep posting them videos(Aloha) 🤙
How much do you guys color correct versus how much comes straight out of the camera? Because this place is way more colorful then I thought it would be
We hardly ever adjust saturation or colors, but we do up the contrast, mess with shadows, highlights, and white balance. We try to edit in a way that it looks exactly how it did to our own eyes! Sometimes the camera footage is a bit more washed out than in real life, so we modify the settings above to make it look more like it did.
@@AdventuresofAplusK great video guys. I am halfway through your catalog of videos. So much to watch! Wanna do the NP parks so your info on them has been extremely helpful. Safe travels. 👍👍🇺🇲
One of my mental blocks with Southern Utah has been that there is so much to see and we typically can’t take a 2 week vacation. I have resigned to the fact that we will have to split into at least 2 trips. I want to see some of the state parks too. So what would you see first if you could only have 7 or 8 days for actually seeing parks?
Ooo good question! I’d suggest splitting the national parks this way: -Zion & Bryce -Canyonlands & Arches Capitol Reef could really go with either. It’s between Bryce and Moab. For Zion and Bryce, the Kanab area is a great add on, with Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch and the sand dunes. You could also add on St. George which has great state parks nearby. Right by Bryce is also the Red Canyon area which looked super cool! We would also recommend Escalante with these parks! The Moab area itself has enough to keep you busy for a week! Our last Utah videos has some hikes that are not in the national parks, but totally worth checking out! I now realize your question wasn’t “how would you split these up” and instead what would you see first 🙈🙈 We really love the Zion and Bryce areas the best I think. We just love the mix of forests and orange rocks and canyons more so than just desert and rock.

Have a great time in the Moab area! We also love Thai Bella, Quesadilla Mobilla, Doughbird, and Moab Garage Co! Those will be in some of our future videos 😋
Just have seen dead horse point. Absolutley amazing.
We loved dead horse point!
Milt's is a great place to get a burger the next time you're in Moab. I love your videos! One of my favorite channels to research for my photography trips!
Thank you so much Phillip! We really appreciate it. And we love burgers!
Great job!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the kind words!❤️ We are so happy that our videos can help with your trip!
Amazing views 👌 Roll us out 😂😂 I’m definitely stealing that one 👍Great job guys 👏👏👏
Hahahaha felt like a big ball of pizza dough after that one! WORTH IT!
Guys, so awesome.
Such an epic place!!
Eating a pizza from Antica Forma right now - Good call! Thanks for the tip. Hope all is well for y’all in the Nam.
Awesome! Thank you!
So beautiful! Safety before all else. The pizzas, I'll take both!! 👍 ✌
Definitely! No reason to risk our safety! And they were both SO good!
These are great videos. Would love to see a Great Basin National Park video.
We’d love to go there! Not sure when we will make it there, but we really want to explore more of Nevada!
That’s probably the La Sal mountains being in Moab that had the snow on them. Another great video. Always look forward to this content.
It is! They are super pretty, we loved seeing them from town and the parks. Thanks for watching Nathan!
Thank you for the great video and helpful information. Best regards🥰😍👍
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Sunset was beautiful. Pizza looks so yum . If you guys enjoy petroglyphs then you can check birthing rock ( recently vandalised but yet not much ) and newspaper rock. This are very close to canyon lands and roads to these places are thrilling. Take care ❤️
We drove by Newspaper Rock and it was super cool (we only saw it from the van, but could still tell how cool it was)!
Very good thanks for sharing your wonderful moments. Which month did you travel here?
Thanks and thanks for watching! July 2021
Another great video!! I now want to go back to Utah and explore more of the state! Greetings from Washington state!! :)
Enjoy WA for us! Our favorite place! ❤️❤️
Hahaha I’m totally on the fried brain train Brad! And we’re so glad you enjoyed the views, including the pizza views 😜
When we did Mesa Arch we were in among 50 other tripods at the front line, literally. There were another 50 people who forgot their tripods standing behind us. But we got our iconic photos. Awesome!
It is a pretty busy spot for photos!
Awesome informative video!!
Thank you so much Mel!
We are going to Moab this weekend! You guys gave us some great ideas!!! We will definitely be trying some of your recommendations 😊. I may just binge watch a ton of your videos now lol.
Woo! Have a great time! If you need more food tips, we loved Thai Bella, Doughbird, and Quesadilla Mobilla. Moab Garage Co is always our go to too!
Love the list you were checking off at the end, can you tell me where I can get a copy?
It's from Etsy (we added the frame)! Here is the link: www.etsy.com/listing/601895364/national-parks-map-of-the-united-states
We are visiting "Island in the Sky" today and hope to recreate some of you stops in the park. Looking forward to the Antica Forma pizza!
We hope you have an amazing time and enjoy the pizza! ❤️
@@AdventuresofAplusK We did! The pizza was amazing.
Yay! So glad you liked it!
Beautiful video as always
Oh man, the wind was brutal everyday in Moab. Be prepared for lots of subtitles to come. Our microphone is usually so good, but couldn't handle it haha. Thankfully this was the last cold day we have had!
We visited this Island of the sky in 2018 in full summer.. honestly the summer was horrible there; but a different kinda vibe.. Thanks for reminding us the wonderful memories.
We cannot imagine Moab in the summer. We got hot in upper 80s and full sunshine there, so we imagine the heat was brutal! Were the crowds bad too?
No.. it was really less crowded.. Our most horrible experience was horseshow bend at 110°F in august'18. We are from the hot part of India where 105 is such a common thing; but the heat on desert was really really horrible
Oh gosh, that does not sound fun! The dry air has been really hard on my nose and throat, so adding in heat would only make it worse.
Thanks.
That's a good idea for a playlist, we will try to make a food focused one!
My family loves Canyonlands! We did the Grand View Hike with my boys (ages 5 and 8). It was nerve wracking to be so high up. My husband and I kept having dreams of falling off of cliffs that night. 😂
There are lots of ledges on that trail, we would’ve been nervous too! I had to tell Adam to be careful 10 times 😂
Your editing is phenomenal. The quality of your video is excellent.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Love all your videos. Have been especially watching the Utah parks since we we are going soon. May I ask what brand of headlamps you have?
Hi Betty! You can find all of our gear on this blog post on our website! adventuresofaplusk.com/our-must-have-hiking-gear/
Hope that helps and thank you for watching!
"Here we are at M-M-M-Monument Arch, s-s-so freak-k-king c-c-cold..."
That last shot....Kathryn Scissorhands....
So man6 videos recently doing great keep up the great work upheaval dome was so cool thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks so much Dylan!
Sir that was some next level panoramic shots .... totally NatGeo level. The iconic desert mountais of Utah are totally crazy.Felt like myself standing at Grand Viewpoint. Thanks for showing this.Notice how u inserted distance in kms as subtitles for international audience. 👍🏻
Wow, thanks so much! And we are trying hard to convert miles and feet as much as we can remember!
So pretty, so Zen!
It's a very, very beautiful place!
Thanks for the great videos. Informative and entertaining. Also appreciate your putting kilometre equivalents!
We are glad you enjoyed the KM equivalents. We have slacked on that recent and really need to get back to doing that!
Hahaha we know the feeling! Dead Horse was super awesome! We may have even liked the views there better!
@@AdventuresofAplusK and I'm not sure how I missed that pizza place when we were in Moab?!? Next time I guess...
Dang it, now I need to go back and do upheaval dome and false kiva! Got lazy and only did mesa arch and the overlooks lol
The park makes it so easy to just do overlooks! But it’s always good to have a reason to go back!
We came back a few days ago from two weeks in S. Utah. Loved that park. Make sure you go to Goblin State Park and Dead Horse State Park.
We did Goblin Valley in our previous video and will show Dead Horse Point in a few videos! Super cool spots!
Hi! What month were you guys out there. We are planning for early March but concerned about the weather. Thanks for sharing such informative videos -very helpful for planning our family adventures!
Hey! This video was filmed in May '21. Check out our website where we have detailed guides to all 5 of Utah's National Parks. We also have a Utah National Park road trip itinerary/guide
adventuresofaplusk.com/utah-national-parks-road-trip-itinerary/
adventuresofaplusk.com/category/utah/
Next time you are there, rent a jeep in town and go down the Shafer Trail and out Potash Road. Easy drive, LOTS of stunning views, and you will find out how insignificant you are when you look up and see how large the rock formations are, and you aren't even down at the river.
We definitely want to! Had to save our pennies for a Jeep rental elsewhere, but will try to do that in Utah next time!
Absolutely amazing. We are watching your Canyonlands video right now. Heading there tomorrow. Eating chips and salsa too lol.
I just missed you by a few days!! I tried out some of the places you went in Little Rock a few weeks ago too!
Ahhh nice! Hope you enjoyed them and enjoyed Canyonlands!
Hi! We were there in early May. You’ll definitely want layers for the sunrise and sunsets! Thanks for watching!
Looks like a beautiful time! Any tips on how to prepare for the weather & the best time to go?
We have a guide with tons of tips on our site! adventuresofaplusk.com/visiting-island-in-the-sky-at-canyonlands-national-park
I don't know if you see my comments but, excellent, skillful;, welldone, and well, sweet. Thanks alot!
Thank you very much!
When I saw the overview I immediately thought, "looks like a meteorite hit there" and then you told the theories. I like the meteorite theory best lol
We do too!!! Isn’t it so wild looking? It reminds us of some of the craters in Hawaii!!
Thank you for this. I was tempted to try it in a rental car next month, but maybe I'll rent something with a little more ground clearance.
Moab is cool. I need to revisit it again. I messed up my hike to Druid Arch. Also want to see Dead Horse State Park. What program do you use to make your maps?
Dead Horse State Park is awesome! We use Adobe After Effects for those!
Very professional and beautiful videos, you have two new fans here.
Question, have you encountered any rattlesnakes in the desert?
Thanks so much Keith and Kathy! We have actually never seen a rattlesnake on a hike, even in Texas!
What month did you guys hike? I'm heading there next month (mid Oct) and wondering if I need to bring a winter jacket for the colder mornings?
This was in April. I'd definitely recommend bringing layers
@@AdventuresofAplusK ok thanks!!
@@AdventuresofAplusK if you aren't touching saturation then I'm way more impressed by this park. Way underrated
Woo! Super glad you enjoyed the scenery!
@@AdventuresofAplusK great video guys. I am halfway through your catalog of videos. So much to watch! Wanna do the NP parks so your info on them has been extremely helpful. Safe travels. 👍👍🇺🇲
Thank you so much!!!
I’d suggest splitting the national parks this way:
-Zion & Bryce
-Canyonlands & Arches
Capitol Reef could really go with either.
@@AdventuresofAplusK That is whatI was thinking. Thanks for the advice.
