    Although short, thank you for visiting. Your insight is honest and respectful. I wish I could take you fishing, marlins everywhere around Majuro now.

    As always an absolutely fantastic and interesting video! It's on the one side great to see these more or less unknown places on a flighttrip but on the other side very sad that these atolls may be gone forever in the foreseeable future! I flew the Dornier 228 once on a long gone route within Germany from Dortmund (DTM) to the now closed airport of Berlin-Tempelhof (THF), operated by an also long gone airline called LGW (Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter). What a great experience that was......!

      Yea, these atolls are quite susceptible to rising sea levels... Mili Airport is 4 feet above sea level, by the way.
      Flying to Tempelhof must have been quite interesting! I missed out on that but at least got to walk on the runway.

    My brother and his family lived on Kwajalein for 4 years back in the early 90s.

    You should’ve spent a day or two on the outer islands and see the beaches

    Have been watching since 800 subscribers. Whilst every video I've seen you have been driven to the airport, the rarity of your content and delivering the reality of travelling to these ultra remote places makes up for it. Given your love of Google maps, do you take any photos to contribute to Google maps when you visit?

      To be fair, walking to Majuro Airport would take a solid three hours in the heat with aggressive dogs along the way 😅.
      I put up pictures and reviews on Google Maps sometimes, not too often though.

      I had a flight booked to Palau in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Naturally, it got cancelled but I'm definitely looking at it :).

    Marshall islands people time their sweet time going and coming. It's called Marshallese time.

    Emergency axe? That's...interesting. 🤔

    • @walkingtoairports
      @walkingtoairports  3 місяці тому +1

      There's an emergency axe onboard almost every aircraft. Usually it's not so visible, though ;).

      @@walkingtoairports oh wow...I had no idea. I've done more flying in single-engine planes than commercial passenger aircraft, so forgive my ignorance. But while I am learning, can I ask; in what kind of emergency would the axe be useful?

    • @walkingtoairports
      @walkingtoairports  3 місяці тому +1

      For example in case there's a fire in areas hard to reach otherwise, sidewalls/panels etc.

    There no “Air Maybe” in the Marshall Islands.

    8minutes, can that beat the shortest flight time in the world??

    • @walkingtoairports
      @walkingtoairports  3 місяці тому +1

      Nope, that 2-minute flight in Scotland is still on my bucket list... There are also 4-minute flights to an island in Northern Germany.

    "This part of the world" an expression with such racial connotations.
