    With the base terrain created, it is time to bring the asset into UE4. With the Houdini Engine plugin you will load in the full terrain with layers. Custom inputs will be used to add flexibility to the tool.

    Hello, I have a problem with geometry (or assets) inside Unreal not projecting correctly onto the landscape, any thoughts about what could go wrong?

    It doesn't identify the layers for me. Even if i use the project files, layer 01 and 02 are still missing ... there is only one HeightField layer ....

      Maybe you need to switch to paint mode right above perspective view in UE4

    Hello is it possible to make a video to explain how create correctly these texture . It's a very important step I think. to know how create the textures correctly and link them correctly for a obtimal result. If Anybody have some information it's will be great :)

      it gets way more complicated from here, but you could at least get the basic stuff setup.
      edit
      Also, the Quixel guys and in this tutorial are setting up displacement/pixel offsets. All that is a tutorial on its own. He would have to do a series on that. I paused the tutorial to learn how to make my own landscape texture. 2 hours later... i have grass and mud, lol. but hey im here for the procedural stuff.

    I ran into a problem in Houdini Engine, I don't have some inputs to work with the landscape. can someone help me with this? Don’t have asset inputs, world outliner input etc. I have only geometry, world, curve inputs.

    Anyone else getting just a HDA icon? Before you ask, Engine is installed etc. When I drag in my HDA it just shows a Houdini icon and the asset doesn't look like Simon's in the outliner....any help would be awesome as now i'm stuck.

    Hi Simon, not sure if you are familiar with Brushify from the Unreal Marketplace but how would I make an existing material like Brushify work with the Layer method?

    Hi, after modifying the landscape with the basic meshes the landscape is not getting the correct collisions for that part where the custom meshes warp the terrain. Any ideas?

    My layers aren't showing up in UE5 when using Houdini Engine for some reason, any ideas? When I use the terrina_layer_export I can see that Layer1 and Layer2 are being exported as masks

      I thought I had the same problem in ue 5.2. Here is how I fixed it: make a ue material and create a landscape layer blend node, and add the Layer_01 & Layer_02 inputs in the layer blend node. Then, copy reference to this material and paste it in a unreal_material node at the end of your terraingenerator sop before the output. now the layers should link up correctly.

    When you applied "use current selection as projection" at 13:35, the terrain changed its shape, but why? It shouldn`t be changed only where object are projected. I had a same problem but didn`t know how to fix it.

    • @joshh.5776
      @joshh.5776 4 роки тому +1

      This is because of the switch at 7:10. Once he has a geometry selected the switch will use that geometry instead of the default/debug geometry in the tool. That's why the whole terrain goes flat

      @@colbywinfield Have you done the proper license activation via the Houdini License Administrator? You can do this by searching license administrator on your computer and filling out the needed information. In there you need to make sure your engine version is the Indie version. Also make sure your HDA does not have the hdanc file extension, if it does you can find online converters but I've had limited success and have largely abandoned the projects I had started with the free version.
